Weylin Tracking - Worldwide
If you are into wildlife tracking, then this channel is for you! In my vlogs I take you with me while I try to track down and photograph the wildlife around me. I am a full time professional tracker, based in the Netherlands. For my field guides I make all photos myself. Anything related might come by at some point. Such as planning photo's, technical aspects, tracking animals, equipment reviews and editing photo's on a computer.
If you have any questions or comments, drop them on the discussion tab. Thanks for stopping by!

great video and fantastic tips

What a wonderful vlog Jeroen; I haven't smiled so much in ages! This is definitely the cutest video I think you've uploaded, as well as being educational too. Thanks❤
Thanks Stephen! These little critters are amazing and very cute indeed :D Perfect father/son trip :D
Hi Jeroen, great to see you here again. Wild Hamsters; cuteness overload right there! As an old geezer having come up through the sixties it can be difficult to think of hamsters as anything other than the Golden Hamster which (correct me if I'm wrong) is either a different or sub-species of those in your video and which I can only ever think of as a caged pet. Lovely to see them in the wild like that and so confiding too. Cracking images and I particularly liked the pan blur images (I think the 'Hurry Hurry' shot was my favourite) mixed in with the portrait images to give a nice bit of variety. It's also really nice to see that your son is still interested in the natural world and is happy to accompany dad on his trips. Take care my friend and best wishes to you and yours.
Hi Robert! Great to hear from you again! I do try to post something now and then :) You are right, the golden hamster is a different species. The European wild hamster is the species name. They are becoming really rare and are expected to become extinct in 30 years... :(
These little fellows are so spectacular! Well done, Jeroen. Austria is my home country and as you know I am living in Switzerland ...
There are amazing! But so sad to hear it is expected that they disappear in 20 to 30 years...
I don't have a UV filter and all my shots are back-focussed. Looks like I'll have to send the bad boy in! Damn.
So sorry to hear. There are appears to be several issues possible.... :(
Really nice to watch this video this morning in my work coffee break! Awesome to see Thijs is also into wildlife and tracking too :)
Thanks Geoff! How are you doing? It's been some time ago we were in Scotland. Starting to miss it... :)
@@weylintracking-worldwide we're doing well thanks - second baby coming in the summer so busy preparing (and trying to get a few trips away in before that too!)
Oh wow, you are going to be busy again Geoff!
@@weylintracking-worldwide Yup! More chaos :D
Hey Jerome, it's so good to see you again! It looks like you and your son had a great day and adventure! Thanks for sharing your day out with us and lots of great information as well. Greg
Thanks Greg! I plan to make more, but the channel is struggling a bit because of the switch to more tracking content....soon more!
You must be so proud of your son. I hope mine grows up to so love wildlife. For a lightweight lens, do consider the new 300 F2.8 GM - it is absolutely incredible, so lightweight and pin sharp with or without teleconverters. Since getting in March has become my favourite lens.
Yes, Thijs is doing awesome! Very curious to see what he will gro into later in life :) I have been thinking about it. But the difference in focal lenght compared to my 400mm f/2.8 is so low that it feels so weird to buy that one. If I did not had the 400mm, I think I wouldve bought it already. The 100-400 is also a leight weight lens with a little more compositing possibilities. How do you compare the 300mm against the 100400? I guess the 300mm has a lot more bokeh :)
@@weylintracking-worldwide The 300 has bokeh near the 400 (which I also own), but what it has over the 100-400 (which I traded to buy the 300) is the much better low light ability, being more comfortable in the hand (the balance near to camera makes it feel lighter than the 100-400), better optics, faster autofocus and most of all for me flexibility, I have either a 300 F2.8, 420 F4 (with 1.4x teleconverter) or 600 F5.6 (with 2x) as required and I really can't see any drop in image quality with the teleconverters on this lens. I now use the 300 nearly all the time when mobile, only using the 400 stationary like when in a hide, or shooting from a vehicle.
@@Jonathantuba the f/2.8 would be brilliant during darker hours and in the woods for sure... I might go for it, but I have been investing in good glass so much already. It also sorta feels like I should be happy with what I have now, as it is kinda ridiculous to see what I own while it is only partially providing income. 90% of what I photograph or put on video I could do with a RX10 as well... But that is how I feel now. Tonight I watch a few YT vids on the 300mm and I might think entirely differently, haha.
Your son has a wonderful trainer !! 😊
We're having loads of fun together :D Thanks Klaus!
Excellent video and Amazing photos..Thanks for sharing!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! It is a bit of a oldy. In a few minutes I have a new one up :)
Hi ! I feel sorry for happened to you ! I don’t know if it comes from this but I saw on Miops website that the laser mode is not working during the day. I don’t have the Miops trigger but I bought the Pluto trigger. I knew the same problem will occur. But I managed to use the laser mode during the day simply by placing a camera ND filter in front of the sensor, it worked for me !
Thank you for the amazing insight. Kingfisher Photography is so interesting, but for me it's hard to get atleast close enough for a normal shot. But I see your a real pro at this topic. Keep up the great work.
Wow that's amazing video
Thanks for being so precise on how to take such a hard shot like that.. that was hard!!!! Appreciate your work!
Thank you! My method might not be the only or the best one, but it worked for me :)
Welcome back!! Missed your videos!
Thanks! I have more planned, including wildlife photography. But no weekly vlogs i'm afraid....
Oh my goodness, I’ve just had a terrible day with my lens and now this could be my issue. Thanks you for sharing. 😊
Hope it helps! Many don't know this, and it helped many to fix their issues...
I thought I heard the Chinese greeting. Wow! You. Certainly are getting around Jeroen. Nice to watch a few more of your videos. Thanks.
Hi Steve! Hongkong is an amazing city.... Was there for my sport :) How are you doing?
Amazing
Thanks!
Cool video :) I know osprey have zygodacty feet and that might be true of other fishing hawks or owls..?
Ospreys would be a possibility there Geoff! I came ill prepared for this morning... ;) Should have brought a bird field guide... How are you doing Geoff?
@@weylintracking-worldwide ah well, you can't always have every guide with you! Doing fine here thanks :)
BRILLIANT!!!! nice one buddy, good to see you back doing what you love! Happy Days my friend 🤗 Such a shame to see all that rubbish on that beach, HUMANS! 😡.....I'm still looking to get out to you to do some tracking and photography! I haven’t forgot lol x JP
Thanks JP! How are you doing? Saw you are running a channel as well now :)
All great here buddy!!! ❤😂 you know I had a channel 😂 all going great 😊 👍👌
Yesssss, but it is growing now I see! It's really A CHANNEL right now!
@@weylintracking-worldwide doing ok buddy! I’m enjoying your tracking stuff on your socials! 🤗❤️
Welcome back Jeroen!!
Thanks Klaus!
@@weylintracking-worldwideWhen will you come to Switzerland?
Well, actually, this summer! We have our summer holiday planned :) We booked a cabin on Riedelalp. Is that close to you...?
@@weylintracking-worldwideIts a very very nice place 😀No not really. I am living near Zurich.
@@klaustomasinibeen there beofre with my oldest son. Really looking forward to visit the area again :)
So cool just goes to show wildlife shows up in many unexpected places!
Exquisite!
i must say that low shutter also kan give you that, undsharp picture, i say too foks, after vi have soo many pixels, i have said my shutter too the dobbelt, ass when ist wass before, and ie have allways my 1,4 on det 200-600mm, i can send you som files best regards Torben Callesen Denmar
Loving your videos! They have inspired me to try out camera trap photography this coming spring. I tried your discount code on Camtraptions wesbite but it doesn't work. Do you have an updated code available?
I get good sharpness on the 200-600 + 1.4x and A7R5. I think you have some image shake in both samples, as even the image without the converters looks pretty soft to me.
I have your setup and thinking of getting the 1.4x. Are you still using the teleconverter? With it I would hope to not finding myself cropping every image.
Great test example, send me the link for the cine comparison. Thanks
Unfortunately, I am no longer making new vlogs for this channel... I never made a comparison with video...
Great video 👍🙂
Excellent work. I am trying a similar project at the moment and appreciate all you have highlighted.
Jeroen, you can turn off the recording lights (tally lights) from inside the menu. Go to menu and navigate to the bottom (brown suitcase), and then scroll all the way down to number '12' ('Video Light Mode'). The rest is self-explanatory. Cheers!
Super wonderful sharing. Thank you so much 👍🏻
Which UV filter were you using? Would be interesting it seeing you test a few different clear filters. I do a lot of work where my lenses are exposed to water, mud, and grime so UV filters are great way for me to make sure I’m damaging my front element with hasty cleaning in the field. But I too suffer from soft images with the 200-600 and also am running a UV filter.
I really can't remember... This was a long time ago ;)
@@weylintracking-worldwide I understand. Was just hoping it could be due to inexpensive UV filters and maybe not all UV filters.
Super awesome sharing. Thank you so much 👍🏻
hey Jeroen, I use the 1.4x with the 200-600 on the A9 and yes I loss some light, but the image is fairly sharp...maby it depends on how much mgp (in my case 24) your camera has?
Hi Bram! Hebben er elkaar daar ontmoet afgelopen bronst?
Nice to see that you are in back garden Dyrehave i denmark. Next time you are here to make pictures in Dyrehave let me know. I can help you with other locations as well.
Will do Jakob!
So, this tool is crap? It's on sale now.
I was very disappointed. But I bought it with s specific goal in mind. Maybe for yours or works fine. Also, I think there are newer versions. Please note the release date of this video!
It is so great to see you posting videos again Jeroen. Have missed your amazing work for the last couple of months, I hope all is well with you and family etc. What a video to return with too, there is something very special about the Red Deer Rut.
It's so amazing to watch this spectacle! I will try and see if I can make more of these 'silent' vlogs. No weekly vlogs for sure. But when I can release something, I will :)
@@weylintracking-worldwide No matter what your content, it is always top notch and completely wonderful. Be assured that along with myself, there will be many fans and viewers, waiting for any content that you post. Your enthusiasm and love of wild animals is so contagious. Take care my friend. ☺
Deer 🦌 park !! Wild is proper hard work !! But still a great film 🎥!!! 👍🦌🎥
Thanks!
I am a beginner and want to start travel and wildlife photography should I get A9i/A7riii/A7iiior save more money to get A7iv. Should I get 70-200gm mk2 + 2x tele, 100-400gm and 200-600g please give me a recommendation?
Oeh, that is all so dependent on what you want to photograph Tommy. With the limited space I have here I can easily give you a wrong advice....
There is something magic Jeroen about the photo at 5.35 with the lighting, the colour, the framing, the contrast in trees. Very nice. Great documentary on Red Deer. Good to see your videos again.
Thanks Steve! This location is amazing. Very happy with that photo :D And the others ofcourse...
Thank you for this video! I have tested the 1.4 converter also with my Sony 200-600 lens and came to the same conclusion ! My bird images are much sharper and more detailed without the converter. Thanks so much!
Absolutely amazing!👍
Thank you Oliver!
Wow!!! That was great! Thanks!
Glad you liked Jon!
Superb video Jeroen great to see you back.
ThanksKevin! I will try to post something every now and then :)
