    I’m not sure what I’d be best fit for but I have a deep compassion for each and every presenter in some way which feels like this is no coincidence I’m seeing the video. I’m not real tech savvy. But I want to be apart of the team where I fit best.

    It is true they will reach out to you. However, that happens once you have submitted all of the documents. To relieve yourself of a lot of headaches you will want to have all your documents ready to upload. Scan them ahead of time and save them in one folder. After doing all these things I had to wait quite a while before anyone reached out to me. I do not want to deter anyone from getting certified. I am super excited about the opportunities for my small business. However, the wait was long. I submitted all of my documents on January 16, 2024, and I did not hear from anyone until May 2024. When you first submit your documents your certification is "pending." After a couple months, it switched to "waiting." Then finally it changed to "approved." Before I was approved, I received an email to submit a few more documents. The lady was super nice and helpful. She gave me an extension so I could get everything submitted. It was a really great experience once I was finally contacted by someone at Caleprocures. I am so excited to get started bidding on some contracts. Good luck and Godspeed.

    as someone married to someone who's 'done business' with the government, its employees are very childish, very wasteful, very corrupt, and very abusive. not knowing this will set you up for failure unless you possess these traits yourself

    59:40 - Re: “high risk high reward”, perhaps an example is best. Government wants, on SBIR, to solve a fuel inefficiency problem in military vehicles. Low risk low reward is to propose a minor improvement in current engines that has already been demonstrated in civilian applications and vehicles (low risk) and has led to modest fuel efficiency improvements. High risk high reward is a new hydrogen fuel cell design that has never been demonstrated anywhere before (sounds risky! what makes you think you can do it??) but, according to your calculations you have triple-checked, IF it succeeds then fuel efficiency in the military’s fleet of vehicles and aircraft will be *quadrupled*! (big reward and payoff). Since it’s government $, the risk is mostly on their side that your calculations were naive and their technical people were naive and didn’t see the flaw either, or some unexpected physics gets in the way and you don’t succeed with your fuel cell in the end.

    58:11 - After those 20 years though the Government can do whatever they want with it, so it’s not your exclusive IP forever, but 20 yrs is a long time before the data rights expire.

  • @xxyyzz8464
    @xxyyzz84643 ай бұрын

    57:46 - That’s not necessarily drastic. Say University is taking the lead, writing the bulk of the proposal, has the “big name” PI, and has the main technology that the small business is going to leverage in one of their systems to give them a competitive advantage. Then darn right the University partner deserves 50%. They usually have “free labor” from grad students though, so 50% for them should go a longer way than 50% for the small business so 55% seems like a lot unless the small business is really bringing little to the table.

    Have you ever had someone who was in a hubzone (waiting on hubzone certification) and new owners of property jump property costs to high market value to try and kick someone out? (Who's hubzone certified?)

    She didn’t seem like she wanted to be there or to answer these questions.. she just seemed bothered. There was no kind of excitement, joy or happiness in her tone. She sounded like she dreaded being there and just wanted to get it done and over with. when the questions were over she said yay! 🎉 She’s a bad representation for that company. someone asked a question and she replied with I already answered that. Or a couple of times she said I don’t have the answer to that . I heard her say I can’t answer that and I don’t have the answer to that a couple of times.. she never answered any of the questions with any extra details and never elaborated on the answers. I can’t get over how she sounded and the answers she gave for some of the questions. Whoever thought it was a good idea for her to get up there and answer those questions need to be fired along with her. I never comment on anything but I was bothered by her tone, her answers and her energy. She just seemed so negative.
