    Alex, in order to compare FOVs both lenses need to be focused at infinity. FOVs can be different because of the focus breathing.

    Great point about clinically sharp images across the companies. So I have been buying a lot of Nikon F Glass with Character (Imperfections, Flaws), but the images that they produce is a WOW factor or Vintage CDC Grainy type of look. Nice thing that I do is to buy adapters which I can share these type of lenses across the board in the camera world. Leica M to Z or E or L. Nikon F to M or L. Next week I will be getting the Brussels Prix Mir 1 37mm f/2.8 from Customs and the Bokeh off that lens has a swirly effect. We are living in great times. Buying used or new does help with the imagination of what You are able to do now for Enjoyment, Hobby or Professional. Cheers!

    Guessing it's a Tamron, so Nikon's controlling image and build quality as Sony does for e-mount, get what you pay for

    Why people say this is a Tamron lens?...everywhere is said that this is Nikon lens...Tamron had one of the best 35mm f1.4 ever...this is just lower quallity Nikon lens, and that's it :)

    I have the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 is more like the F Mount Version. Also having 40mm f/2 seems to be the same crop size as the newer glass. When Nikon decides to release their f/1.2 version it is going to be enormous and heavy. Cheers!

    It look pretty good...with a little bit of sharpening, dehaze, and removed CA, it looks nice... :) And this lens is not designed for Z8....45mpx is too much...I think this lens works great on 24mpx sensors :)

    For those who do not need autofocus and/or like to do manual focusing, then get the excellent Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical, which have outstanding optical image quality, second to none ! The build quality are very high and the Voigtländer will last many years.

    Great video, I pre ordered this lens for portrait shooting and have been undecided whether or not to cancel. I think you did a great job showing the look of the lens across different subjects, its maybe a bad choice when shooting landscape or high detail shots but I think this is going to look awesome for less harsh portrait rendering. I think I’m gonna be happy when I pick it up later today from what you’ve shown. Thanks!

    I personally like the bloom and its means I dont have to buy another pieces of glass to add or I can really lean into it and put a mist filter on The L glass has more character and Sony more clinical both have there place and pick you poison. The canon is also not quite as bitingly sharp at least on the R6 which can also be desirable. end of the day it really doesnt matter as you'll buy the one for you're system but it is nice to see what you get if your on fence for purchasing either system.

    If a camera takes great photos with excellent resolution and good color pay off would that same camera translate over into better video quality? I’m wondering how they differ from each other. Is a camera that produces excellent images going to capture videos just as good? Thank you!

    thanks so much - that was exactly what I was looking for. As an owner of the X100V I'm always running back and forth upgrading to Q3 or X100VI. Problem with Lightroom and the Fuji files is always the sharpness. Therefore I've converted the Fuji files with DXO pure raw 4 to DNG and now you could absolutely find the sharpness on one level or even better with the Fuji file. If you convert both Leica and Fuji via DXO Leica is again a tack sharper but not as much as before. give it a try with the test version . For me it's now to upgrade to X100VI whenever I'll get one... in the meantime I'm very happy with my X100V

    @ABarrera interesting and thoughtful commentary, have been talking over this very topic with my daughter (a photojournalist by training). I had passed her two of those shots, and she gave me the other! Agreed these 3 photographers were the consummate professionals, ready to act in the moment. Their skills, experience, and most of all preparation were the foundation that enabled each of them to act ... in the moment. I think it's interesting that the two Sony's were actually reversed, in terms of which was ideal - the resolution specialist captured the bullet, and the speed specialist captured what was essentially a dynamic portrait. While we like to search endlessly for the `ideal camera`, in reality when push comes to shove the camera in your hands (especially mainstream modern) are just so enormously capable that what we are using can get it done, if we can.

    I've used the R5 now for almost 4 years, and I shot with RAW for the first almost year. The 3 years since, I have exclusively shot CRAW in every scenario, indoor/outdoor, strobes and low light, clubs and portrait sessions, everything. I have been completely satisfied and never felt I was getting any less out of the camera. And the fact it just seamlessly works with lightroom and Apple photo library? Amazing. Such an underrated feature.

  • @ABarrera

  • @jimb2500
    @jimb25006 күн бұрын

    @@ABarrera Alex this is so freaking untrue, that you should be ashamed of yourself for promoting such nonsense! I am a working professional and have used the camera daily since I got it in May and have not lost one image or had the camera freeze up. Let’s address the real issue. Digital cameras are not designed to have their batteries hot swapped. If people are pulling batteries out while the camera is on or in sleep mode, that’s on them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did loose images, damage the cards, damaged the camera, or corrupted the firmware. And that’s the issue it’s user error, I mean how dim witted can you be to think you can just pull the batteries out on any camera while it’s on???? For real, what happens on a Mac computer if you pull the memory card without ejecting it first? You get an error message and cards can easily become damaged. It’s not a professional practice, and I commend Leica for issue a statement telling people not to pull the battery while the camera is on or in sleep mode. If you operate the camera normally it works like a dream!

I have a Q2 and Sony A7R3, and i have never had to underexpose an image more than I have with the Leica. I saw some info stating that fuji used a different kind of glass for a couple elements on the 55 1.7 vs the 80 that help resist purple fringing. The only downside to that is they have lower light transmittance in the blue and purple wavelengths so you will see slightly less saturation in those colors. Sounds like this is a good trade off for the much better CA performance of the 55.

    Might have improved since I owned and sold the Zf, but the "eyelash-AF" would miss focus on the iris of the eye too often when shot wide open. Drove me crazy. The R5 I used to own, even with the original firmware would nail iris focus at f/1.2 all day long on both people and pets.

    I have a A7R5 and am generally happy, but I'm thinking of going back to Nikon with the Z8. I just miss the Nikon look. I liked the video files straight out of camera as well. I owned a D750 originally and the AWB and Auto ISO worked well as they do on the A7R5. But I just miss Nikon, I liked the photo/video switch. So I'm torn because I also like my Tamron 20-40mm it fits my work just right, and it's not available on Nikon.
