There's some folks floating a *very* interesting theory that Erenville may be like Gaia - a shard/reincarnation of one of the Ascians we haven't seen yet. Halmarut if I recall - the cultivator of mythical and botanical creations and who's soul crystal is the same shade as Erenville's eyes. Yeah sure we're going on a new grand adventure but honestly I'm most looking forward to learning more about husbundo. :'3

I did not see any death flags in the trailer. Just ominous wording for possible ominous content and future expansions to expand upon, but nothing death-related. :o But to each their own! I'm personally glad the Scions are alive. They make the journey fun. :D

Thancred borderline dies on screen with death speach and all only to be saved offscreen like that shit doesn't matter... I like that they are alive and I like the story, but this fake death stuff really numbed me to worry about scions. Also last 20 seconds of Endwalker Teaser is Alphinaud planting 30 death flags around himself... how could you miss that? And this trailer is almost 1 to 1, but not as in your face.

Endwalker's trailer had finality all over it sure, as it was indeed the finale of the Scions and the Hydaelyn/zodiark story, so its theming was purposefully done that way. But Dawntrail's trailer doesn't have any warnings of possible Scion death, just "danger, excitement, mystery" and the last few seconds of the mysterious girl talking about her own sacrifices in a probable attempt to get the player to sympathize with whatever is going on/what she has possibly done. :o Trailers are always done up in such a way to invoke interest. FFXIV's trailers are of course gonna show the Dangers of the story like an anime trailer would. XD As for the characters themselves, I'm not gonna get on that topic. Views of the Scions and their story arcs vary from person to person, and often people cannot agree to disagree and posts will get lengthy. So I will simply say: I'm sorry that it's left a numbed taste in your mouth, and I hope that your Dawntrail experience is at least a fun one regardless! :D

'Hoooly crap, your Ifrit's on steroids!' Horribly out-of-character for my main, but still the first thought that came to my mind. XD I will freely admit that I've not yet played XVI, so I didn't know what to expect here. The questline was neat, and the Metian chest piece is my main's new primary glam because it's exactly the sort of thing she'd wear. My reaction to this was delayed because I hadn't done this until... this past Sunday? So I was cutting it close with how much time was left to actually do it and stuff. >.> Still, glad I did it!

(Also, was just fun seeing Erenville be all 'so done with this'.) Love how she was arguing with the giant colibri, too. XD I'll be taking Dawntrail much slower than usual - I normally do it alone, but this time I'm planning to run it with a group of 3 other friends. Imagine if the Amal'jaa had seen Clive's Ifrit and decided *"You know what? **_That's_** our Ifrit now!"* and that opened up variants of Bowl of Embers where instead of fighting the FF XIV variant of Ifrit, we instead fight the FF XVI variant of Ifrit, but only if we've completed this crossover event in it's entirety first. Might have been a nice little side bit they could do in the same vein as the Manderville stuff, where the FF XIV Primals get replaced in their respective boss fights by the FF XVI Eikons. :P

Little neat detail I found out when watching a filmmaker’s analysis of the demo, that moment when the candle flames get really intense and sephiroph’s shadow just gets huge on the wall? They accomplished that by just shutting off the rest of the light sources in that environment. Effectively treating it like a movie set.
