    hi dana can you put music from a computer or PC into channel 1?

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker112 сағат бұрын

    Yes you can and you have a few ways to do it. The first is by using a audio interface which is expensive and unnecessary. The best way is to use the Aux In Remapping feature in Routing. Select "Card In 1 & 2" and then go to channel 1 and under the Config tab, select Aux In 1.

    The scale on MS is indeed fader position, just like on the B app, with 10dB of boost from unity with the fader at the top. He just didn't align the meter readings with the scale in the same way. It looks as though the scale as it applies to the meters puts 0dB at maybe -15dBFS signal level (in other worlds, the meter scale is what you'd see on an analog console).

  • @DanaTucker1

    I made this video because nobody seemed to know just where these meters were reading from and I think you are 100% correct.

    Dana, so this is the interface on an X32 mixer console, correct. I see a much simpler interface on my iPad. My question is, can I saves settings on my iPad Pro (12.9") just using the rack? I looked for a OS for my mac but its not available for my macbook? (I'm running current versions). thanks

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker123 күн бұрын

    Good morning. AFAIK, Mixing Station Pro is the only app that will save a scene to your iPad. Most people will save their scene to the mixer, and then simply recall it from their iPad using X/M 32 Mix.

    If you only wanted just a click track to come from your DAW do you have to sacrifice 8 inputs for that one click? Or could you use the User in function and have just one input receiving the click from the DAW? I don’t have S16 so I only have the 16 inputs from my rack so I’m hoping to not have to sacrifice 8. Thanks!

  • @DanaTucker1

    It’s just like you said. By using the user in your can use one input from the card and 15 from your mixer. Make sure that your card routing matches your user in routing as well.

    Dana, Thank you so much for your videos! I have an X32 Rack and I'm outfitting it with a DL32. I think I figured out how to route my inputs but I'm having a heck of time figuring out how to route my outputs so I can send signal to stage monitors... Do you have a video on that? I know the Behringer 32 channel stage box and the Midas stage boxes are very similar. Would you please shed some light?

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker1Ай бұрын

    it sounds like you have moved your default AES50 routing. All you need to do is set your Rack as the Master and plug in your DL32. Everything should work as expected as long as you set your inputs to either AES50 A or B and leave everything else to their default position.

    Great video Dana...thank you. The one piece I'm struggling with, and maybe I'm just overthinking it, but can safes be set to protect against recalling snippet elements? Or, am I missing the point of snippets - similar to your original confusion - in that I control what DOES get saved into the snippet, so therefore I shouldn't need to protect channels/params on the recall side? Backstory: I don't want to use scenes for each song our band does, given the time it takes to load a scene, so I'm using snippets to save effects, some fader settings, etc. But if I want to protect against a certain snippet element from being recalled is there any way to do that other than *don't* save that setting to begin with? Thanks for your help!

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker1Ай бұрын

    Scene Safes are hard to grasp as everything is backwards. Snippets on the other hand are nothing more then a mini scene within that same scene. AFAIK, you really don't need to do anything to a snippet or a cue, other then to set it up correctly.

    Dana, you have helped us all many times, and thank you again for what you do, brother. I need help once more. I have an x32 Compact at my drum kit. I send 8 buss mixes to our Foh full size x32 via AES A 17- 24 through 2 S16's. Am using backing track and click into the compact aux 5 and 6 and sent to buss 9 and 10 with signal visible. All buss settings are identical yet, I cannot get the signal FROM BUSS 9,10 AES A 25,26 to FOH X32. I have tried all of the routing tricks I know with the board and X-Edit.

    A couple questions about USB Sticks. Is there a way to tell if the stick you are using is compatible? Should something come up on the main X32 Rack screen to let me know I have a valid formatted stick? Last night I tried to record our band and when I clicked on the record button - either on the recorder screen - or on the right side panel, the record light would flash once very quickly and then go right back off. Is this a sign I don't have a compatible stick - or am I doing something else wrong? If I set to Post Fader I am assuming I will get the L/R mix just as I have all the various levels set, correct? Thanks!

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker1Ай бұрын

    There is nothing on the mixer that tells you everything is correct, other then what you experienced. There are many thumb drives that will not work with the X/M32 Mixers but the ones I use, can be purchased just about anywhere. I use the 8 gig scandisk cruser. This is the thing, you want the highest read/write speed you can get. The only requirements is that it is formatted to Fat32. Once you setup your mixer to either 44.1 or 48, make sure that you NEVER switch back and forth between the two settings.

    Hi Dana, Thanks so much. I've had this issue for over a year now and finally fixed it. There's a quick bailout for this, you can set all the channels on a DCA instead and ride the fader down 6 to 8dB, that keeps the system from ever reaching digital clipping.

    I've been scouring the internet for 2 days looking for an Android app to control my XR18. I'm coming from the analog live mix world to digital and I chose this mixer in order to be able to control the full front-of-house mix, as well as stage monitors, via my tablet. Problem is: the "X Air" app on the Play store doesn't exist anymore - only the X Air Q which is basically for individual musicians to control their personal monitors. It does not provide full mix view access to control everything needed for FOH! (Behringer apparently doesn't like to talk about that, nor can you find any information re-directing you to a different solution.) All of the information I've found is outdated - even the Music Tribe community's info regarding the app is outddated or non-existent. Unreal! It wasn't until I ran across this video that I realize the MX App will do what I need it to do. I downloaded a few minutes ago and looked at the Demo Mode and I believe it will do the trick. Thanks for posting this! (And yes, I know you're saying not to depend on this app - but I'm not aware of another FOH solution other than Mix Station?)

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker12 ай бұрын

    Behringer has been working on their new app for close to 1.5 years now and everyone is very upset with them, that relied on these apps for their mixers. If you decide their new app will work for your needs then you should download it and put it through its paces.

I am quite comfortable with the mixer in live sound and studio but I did a new set-up in my studio and everything was working perfectly. This morning I turned everything on and the sound was distorted then it only played through one monitor and then nothing was playing!! I was so confused! I watched this video and saw you setting the sample rate and I thought let me check that... It was set at 48kHz so I changed it to 44.1kHz and PERFECT! I have no idea how it changed because I didn't change it but now I know and I'm so happy! Basically... thank you for the video!!😊

    Interesting ! A few things to consider though : - on a X32 rack at least : even if a dynamic mic seems to have an incoming level that is very low here (and especially compared to the condenser mic you tested), in a live situation you can get it loud enough (did that many times) with no issues by using the "talk level" encoder that is on the front panel. With a band i tour with, encoder at 11'o clock is often more than enough NB : the same knob is also present on the regular X32, so i would believe both consoles would behave the same in that way - in this video you tested it in a quiet studio-ish environment (we hear no bleed from a loud PA and a loud stage n your example, and i believe you did this video from your home studio). It would be interesting to hear the same test in an actual live environment, and i'm pretty sure in this case dynamic mics are way more suited than condenser mics for talkback if you use them like a regular handheld vocal mic like a sm58 (by talking into the mic, instead of having it on a stand far from you, which is how a lot if not most people use talkback mics live) , you would precisely have more talkback voice signal and less bleed than with a condenser mic. EDIT : i think a condenser mic would be more suited if you leave the mic on a stand or on the table, instead of getting it next to your mouth each time you speak (and that is also why the X32 built-in mic is also a condenser mic)

  • @DanaTucker1
    @DanaTucker13 ай бұрын

    You will find that I am just as straight forward on my YT channel as I am in my FB community. Your lack of knowledge in the X32 Talkback system is overwhelming. Your comment is full of misinformation as well as incorrect statements. I did a video using your suggestion of setting the input gain for the talkback mic at 11 O'clock. This produced a output signal of around a -50dB. If you think that is except able as a output level, you don't know the first thing about audio engineering! Just as I told you in our community, this is the last comment I will make to you concerning this issue. Here is the video following your suggestion. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2t4yrOpiKXck7g.html
