Thanks for all the great info. One minor thing, The a7iv is shown to have practically the same dynamic range as the a7iii, but more resolution. Not a huge deal but just incase any sony folks see it ;)

I just got this on my A7RV and I thought it was "pretty good" (especially considering the price). If you're not a pixel peeper, it does perfectly fine. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$$ since 50mm isn't really my thing and I have zoom lenses that cover 50mm, but I wanted a compact cheap lens to carry around. The autofocus is really bad compared to my other lenses, but it's still workable.

There is a lot of distortion on this lens at both ends - 24 and 70. The 35-50 range is pretty good, but I think its a return unfortunately! This was my first l mount lens for the BMCC 6k full frame and it was a bit of a let down. However, I am a hard critique as my other 24-70 is the RF f2.8 which is very incredible.

@JacekSopotnicki I think I actually like the distortion now haha, not for everything but overall I think the lens is fine, and 24mm on the cinema cam with no lens correction is gonna look wider than my crop sensor hybrid brain can handle!

Seen all your videos and should of found them sooner, I've been buying drones for the last 12 years and I found them difficult to operate. So I put them into storage until I retire, well I'm retiring this week. The question is, all these drones are not even close to the tech today. I paid $19.00 to $90.00 but basically worthless today. Do you have anything in your storage of great products I can try or buy. Thanks, Frank

I have this lens, using it mostly for video with the FX3. Image quality is every bit as good as the Sony GM 70-200 f2.8 which I also own. My only complaint is that Tamron did not include a tripod collar. Fortunately, there are several aftermarket collars that are made for this lens.

Excellent review- thanks! I actually prefer cat's eye bokeh in the corners; especially when I have soft sunlight filtering through leaves in the background. It gives more "pop" to the centre of the image. I just love mine- for general use and portraits.

The kits lens is what casual shooters get when they buy an interchangeable lens camera. For many people, it could be the only lens they ever buy, so it has to be sturdy, reliable, flexible, and generally good enough to satisfy. If the supplied lens is total crap, a lot of buyers will simply return the camera instead of shopping for better lenses. Camera makers obviously want people who buy their cameras to keep those cameras and also to buy more lenses, something they won't do if they've returned the camera. Pros and enthusiasts often buy body only because they think the kit lens is useless to them, but if I were buying a new body, I'd seriously evaluate the offered kit lens. In some cases, the makers are all but giving it away, and it's always useful, even if only on a backup camera or as an emergency spare.

In low light situations, I use the hand held High Res Shot mode, which cleans up the image considerably. Then, if it needs it, noise reduction in Workspace or Lightroom removes the rest. I get completely clean shots and great dynamic range at iso 10,000, which is the maximum I have set for auto iso. I haven't tried going past 10,000, because I've never needed to. There is a down side to this of course, that being having to wait between shots for the camera to process the files, so it's not much good for fast shooting. It's also no good for moving subjects. But I was really surprised at how well this camera handles noise when you use this method.
