    I had surgery 10 days ago 19 teeth pulled six implants on the bottom six on top two of the six on the top where zygoma implants in the cheekbone!! Very painful I’m just sore still have some swelling but overall, this is a painful procedure. I guess it sells better if they say you’re only down one or two days.

    How was your recovery? Im getting mandibular osteotomy done

  • @gordonchow4611
    @gordonchow461117 күн бұрын

    @@avisena6445 honestly for me it wasn't terrible. The first 2-3 days were easy and I thought that I could comfortably live on soft foods but on days 4-6 it became a living hell and I was barely eating, no appetite and naseous all the time. That being said after a week and by day 10 I was feeling really good. I played golf, went out more again and the days started to go by faster. Appetite wise I could eat eggs, avocado/guac, chili, and by day 15 I had my first lasagna which was hard to chew at first but by day 21 anything pasta-like or softer was v manageable. For me having the elastics in were annoying and made my teeth hurt but it gets better but I had to use 2x extra strength elastics on both sides. Mobility wise it wasn't bad, I wasnt wired shut or anything and I could open my mouth slightly/chew to eat for the most part and this got better fast as time went on. my last takeaway is that you wont really notice how fast time and your recovery after 2 weeks post op. it gets much easier and tbh you can challenge your mouth to chew more and more. its only the middle part of the first 10 days where you get really sick of liquids, the medication (antibiotics, painkillers, etc) and extra teeth cleaning routine becomes really draining. Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes :)

    What about numbness after implants are placed? My lip, chin and a few teeth on my lower right side are still numb one month after the impants were placed. The implants have felt fine. No pain. No infection. The dentist said the nerve gets pressured and there can be numbness for weeks, even months. It is not uncommon. What can be done to get the feeling back sooner? Massage not really working. Massage the nerve area or massage the numb area? B Vitamins were recomended to heal the nerve.

    I had mine the Monday after Thanksgiving. For sure you loose the feeling in the face: above the upper lip and below, both upper and lower lips, and nose. As of today I still have numbness. Worse part of this surgery is the inability to open my mouth all the way. It’s been said this will improve over time but I can say this and everything has been very, very frustrating. If I had to do it over again I personally would have to think it over.

    Hi Doctor.. You are in Atlanta, and I am in Los Angeles. Can you recommend anyone you like or think is really good at this? I need to have surgery, as I broke my jaw today, in two place. Ugg. I ended up going home, because they didn't have a surgeon available, and I could not see myself staying in that hospital. They left me sitting most of the day, and I don't want people like that working on me. I was thinking I'd reach out to UCLA or County USC. I just want a surgeon who knows his stuff when it comes to this type of surgery. Hope to hear back! Shawn from Los Angeles.

    Had my upper and lower jaws repositioned the Monday after Thanksgiving. The doctor is spot on. Almost no pain post op. I spent three days in the hospital then went home (I had a low O2 count). As far as energy I was wiped out for about a week and half. I’m at the stage of using the rubber bands. Finally I can remove them to eat soft foods. Today I had pasta with eggs and salsa. Took me a good while to eat but it sure felt great.

    Would have been nice to know much sooner! With dental work now I have such bad dentalphobia due to extraction of all wisdom teeth. Only one came out whole. They didn't spend the time to fully remove the shards. I will be fully going under hopefully soon, as suboxone destroyed my teeth (presided for pain at 12mg daily, no I didn't help). I went in to get my teeth fixed much sooner, even telling them my needs, after they say sorry, you will have to find a provider licensed (for NO2, since I was coprescribed benzos as well as opiates). You sound like you care about your patients, where as the last time I felt that was was with an amazing pediatric office.

    Just had my double jaw surgery almost a week ago and the pain is minimal from the surgery itself however, I did get wisdom teeth removed while they were in there and it is THAT, that hurts like crazy at random times with pulses. I agree that yeah it’s super annoying to not eat properly but for me it’s been breathing and the hooks from the braces. My nose is like ultra sensitive and anything above a warm temp air, BURNS my nose. I’m ordering a steamer to help minimize that. The hooks just rub the cheeks a bit. The days do get better and better honestly but it’s just the small discomforts that make it. Time for some One Piece and soup.

Day 1 was meh, nothing Ibuprofen couldn’t handle. Mainly just slept. Day 2 was mainly yogurt, pudding with protein powder, and some protein shakes (plant-based muscle milk or something). Again not much. Just felt like a bruise being pushed constantly. After day 3, I stopped needing Ibuprofen, and started walking daily again. On day 6 currently, and back to lifting weights again.
