As a tiler, it looks pretty good to me in 'setting out', i.e. It's all lining up and square. My only advice is to have a clean bucket of water with a sponge handy at all times. You need to clean the joints as you go otherwise you'll be scraping out the dried up adhesive. Well done though!!

It appears from the look and from the difficulties that you were having that your mortar was very dry. You start with poor adhesion and it just goes downhill from there. I feel your pain. Tile work is tedious and relies on so many different factors. You keep saying you're not a tile guy, but your cuts are clean and your lines are level and square. I've seen pros do worse. I wasn't there, but it really appears that your mud was too dry. No offense, mate, but that is looking like one dreary room. I hope you are planning a very light grout to help it pop! Nice work. You should be proud of what you've shown us.

Once I started I couldn't stop myself As for the room looking dreary you could be right I'm just hoping the ceiling and rad wall bring it back... Check out the next room . I do... Bedroom.. I'm not having any say on it. Will be all my wife's ideas.... Lol Once again. Thanks for feedback

poor choice of title my friend calling this "the right way". i'm a big fan of silicone profiles for siliconing; the idea being you get a nicely formed 45 degree slope which has two primary benefits, 1) the 45 degree slope sheds water better, and 2) there's more volume of silicone for a stronger joint. when you take your finger over it for a final pass you completely undo the work you've just done, 1) the joint is now concave with a lot less cross-sectional area, 2) it's much more likely to hold pockets of water which will quickly go black as bacteria grows. lastly, the soapy water is compromising your silicone before it has a chance to form... you've sprayed it onto the wall and counter immediately next to the nicely formed silicone and then squeezed the silicone out and onto it with your finger meaning it is now touching a surface it is less likely to adhere to. yes it means the silicone doesn't stick to your finger as much but again you shouldn't be using your finger in the first place. a quick once over with IPA before you start will also improve the adhesion. forgive the diatribe, I wasn't searching for this video but youtube loaded it for me and thought I'd share. nice tiling though.

What plaster did you use on brick / block work? I think you suposed to use hardwall or at least bonding. Then wait for that to go off, then skim over the top with multifinish. Brick / block is a very high suction background that combined with being a very hot day.. Multifinish or magic mix? multifinish with a bit of bonding, wont do the job.
