  1 of 1st places I was shown by my mentor Neil Korelas. 1968. He was obviously older and show me every single spot from Sunset Cliffs Carlsbad I mean every single spot! There was a lot of open land on the beach in some areas . And the cliffs and blacks we're by far the most special

  I still wish I was able to go to this show. It sold out rather quick. Belly Up Solana Beach is a smallish venue. CraY to compare this to his crowd at WWWY festival with blink

  Surfed that place a lil smaller than that but not by much back in early 2000s on 6'2" fish...like 14 " tail.....6 guys out all on guns.....was shitting myself the whole time...rode 2 waves and couldnt keep the tail from sliding with small trailer fin....spookiest surf session ive ever had in so cal... Was lucky never caught inside and at that tide waves let you in " fairly easy" so was fortunate Could have been my biggest nightmare easily.... From the cliff you think ah its maybe dbl overhead on sets, when you get down there its always alot bigger.... Very deceiving, but also surfed it perfect head high to cpl ft over and just reeling dtl Magical spot for sure When it gets big, whole different world

  Road a 5’8” swallow quad Rusty on one of the biggest swells of the year in 2005. I’m 6’1” lol, it was so hard to paddle into waves but I caught 2 stand up barrels at north peak and a giant avalanche set, then I got complete obliterated on the biggest set of the morning caught on the inside, two wave hold down because my leash hog tied my legs together, I just went in after that. But I would surf there almost every single day for a few years as a teenager, it really paid off.

  Beautiful angle but you were filming the wrong peak. Check the right side of the screen @ 1:35 ...better than any wave you filmed IMO.

  That pitch on that wave is so intense . I almost died at Blacks back in the late 70's. I also have had some great sessions there too.. I have total respect for Blacks.. I haven't been down south in five years. One thing about Blacks there is no other wave like it in all of SD.

  Is there a consensus of opinion on how big the biggest of those waves were? Does the overhead position of the drone (looking downward) make a difference in the estimate of size? The largest waves look to be at least eight feet.
