Does this fish also go by the name of black and gold chromis? looks just like one! Do oyu know if they are aggressive like damsels or is this just undersea footage?
@Exallias113 күн бұрын
Yes, it is mistakenly referred to as the "Black & Gold Chromis" but it is in the genus Neoglyphidodon not Chromis, so the aquarium common name is a misnomer of sorts. I have never kept this species in an aquarium so I can't advise you on how aggressive it is. But be sure you notice in this video how large (and drab) they get as adults. I would not recommend them for most aquariums just on the basis of their size as they get older.

Great coverage and uniform growth! I was late for the "like" this time... #3. Thanks for sharing. This short video completed the great day I had. Hope you're both doing great! Aloha. 🙏

Tried to imitate their tune and talk to them ,they talked back to me ! They kept going until I laughed so much that could not go on talking to them anymore.( After talking back and forth between that cardinal bird and me for quite a while).To my surprise,once I stopped talking ( by imitating their tune),the cardinal bird stopped talking to me too. So cute!

The corals in this video were so healthy!! Amazing fishes! I remember back then talking to Karen about having a Caribbean exhibit at the aquarium, but it was too risky in terms of bringing diseases in. Can you imagine a tank with those corals here? I love this video! Thanks for sharing!!!

I just finished asking if they were agressive. I need to add 20 bucks to my cart for free shipping lol. But if hes that aggressive then I wont especially if they wont remain so pretty! Would you say he is more aggressive that a less aggressive damsel like a yellow tail? Do they just loose some of the yellow! I thought I had a good score for 20 bucks lol

Amazing color and shape!! Constantly eating, what makes most "Anthias" very challenging to keep in captivity. We might think fishes are "going with the flow" or enjoying the scenery as we would while diving, but they take their diet very seriously and that is mainly what their job is in the ocean, besides reproduction!! Lovely video as always!!! Thanks for sharing such precious images! Aloha.

Very cool! I've always been fascinated with these guys. I don't know if you'll remember, but back in the early 90's I had an opportunity to get one and while I was trying to gather information to be ready for him, I found almost nothing but what I found always had your name attached. So I called the Waikiki Aquarium and you spent a good bit of time on the phone with this crazy high school kid who was getting a nautilus. You also sent me a big package of information on keeping them. I've since been to Waikiki Aquarium and Georgia Aquarium hoping to be able to say thank you, both times to find out you'd recently left. So this will have to do. Thanks so much for taking the time with that crazy kid and know that I was able to keep that nautilus for over a year in a 55 gallon aquarium in my bedroom at my mom's house.

Charles, thanks for the interesting comments and story. I will have to admit I only vaguely recall your phone call - I would get a lot of calls back in those days asking questions about west Pacific marine life. Glad I could be of help back then; in fact, that really was my job: helping people learn more about marine life. FWIW, we left Hawai'i last year and moved back to Georgia and now live just north of Atlanta.
