You usually have a hose lock connector at at the end of the hose anyway. Just get a double connector and then you can use the cut section with suitable connectors if you need a longer length.

Yes i have changed the primary right hand turbo without removing or lowering the engine on my 2011 4.4 tdv8 L322. You will need a lot of patience, and the right tools , took 4 hours on the hidden nut one of three you can only see with a mirror, keeping the manifold bolted to the head, The other two awkward screws which were the last to undo are the water pipe 2 torque screws . the new turbo went back in half a day , turned out low turbo pressure and limp mode was not the turbo but a blocked DPF.. if some one wants to try this i suggest put the front up on stands and lay underneath with a pillow as you will be there for ages, and a ramp will kill your neck and arms , all done within a week, at 65 ..

Does the engine really need to come out to replace the turbos on the L322 , just like does the body need to come off on the L320 to replace its turbos or is there a way around it
@pwcclient18992 жыл бұрын
You can just about remove the smaller of the 2 turbos with dropping the engine, the larger turbo requires a body separation as per video
@TomsShedProjects Жыл бұрын
You could probably strip down most of the engine to squeeze them out. But it’ll be impossible to see any of the bolts etc.

Hi Tom what’s the difference between tdv8 and sdv8
@TomsShedProjects Жыл бұрын
No real difference. They both snap crankshafts and they are both turbocharged. Plenty of smaller differences.
@bmcpheat6 жыл бұрын
Land Rover seem to design high work load or specialist equipment repairs into their cars and then do things like install insufficient drains to turbo's almost guaranteeing plenty of work for the Dealers. A simple transmission fluid change requires the chassis to be disassembled on some models. It's like asking a decorator to do the hall through the letterbox.

Same with mine. Chassis is in fantastic shape but the sills, inner arches, and the sides each side of the rear door behind the arches are non-existant. I have replaced the sills with box section and I am going to do the same with the rear crossmember and like you I am going to fabricate as much as I can to save money. Keep up the good work. And in England we charge book time regardless of how long the job takes. It took 2 hours to have the engine out, and 3 hours to replace the turbo and refit. I worked for a Land Rover dealership and this is how they did it

Yes I know you don't have to, but when replacing both it is a good idea as it saves time

You do not need to remove engine and gearbox on L322 tdv8 just for turbo replacement . I have done few turbos . One side turbo replacement takes about 7hours in main dealer workshop . I believe you charged customer double time for turbo replacement than main dealer would.

poolcz hi, few days ago Turbo (on driver's side) died. It started leaking oil. It is 2008 RRS 3.6 tdv8 . Everyone is convincing me the body needs to go out. I don't want to believe in it. Is there a manual or something where it is explained how to replace it without removing the body ? Thank you, I will really appreciate if you answer me back 😁 tnx

poolcz it is possible to change right turbo without remove the engine?
@TomsShedProjects Жыл бұрын
Poolcz. Absolutely not. For a start the warranty that the customer has would not pay for a main dealer. I am JLR trained and decided that I would remove the engine, change the turbos and replace in 2 days, rather than struggle doing each one in (like you say) 7hrs. This allowed me time to replace the feed pipe and inspect and clean the intercooler, pipe work etc. So, in essence, you’re very wrong.
