    Need help. I talked with an installer and I'm looking for a simple LiftMaster opener for a single car door. I want a one piece rail and belt drive. Really liked the model 81550. Issue is in California need to comply with the backup battery requirement. What belt drive LiftMaster with backup battery do you recommend for California?

    Hello! Thanks for your question! There are only two options for the moment. 1. The LiftMaster 87504-267 2. The LiftMaster 84504R Both of these openers are stellar. My favorite of the two is the 85404R. I have videos on both openers. But they both offer a lot of bang for your buck. Currently there is no contractor series belt drive garage door opener from LiftMaster offered in California. I wish I had better news for you. What area of California do you live in? What type of garage door do you currently own?

    Thank you for your kinds words. There are some other brands that might be worth considering. For example, the Linear 661 garage door opener offers a great belt drive option. Marantec also offers a belt garage door operator that's super quiet. And of course there's also the Genie 2128B.

    Great video. Liked! Question using your example of standard Wayne Dalton 8000 uninsulated 16x8 garage door. You said 250x2x30 or 250x1.75x33. Well I have this exact setup with 250x1.75x33 and I can't find find exact replacement spring from Dura-Lift or DDM. Closest 2" ID spring is 250x2x33 (not 30). I can't find any info online to say if that will work. Any thoughts? Just looking for 2cents.

    Bought for Homekit smart integration (FAIL) using my Q app works 50/50 usually door sensors causing failure. Why unreliable. If the sensor activates it takes time to reset if at all. I need to go to the wired opener to shut it. Horrible, when I am driving away having to unlock garage door and lock garage door, go through the house open and lock the deadbolt and security window. 50% failure rate when closing.

    I live in Fargo nd. I have the Wayne Dalton 9100 garage door. The conditions are extreme. From rain, to sleet, snow, and ice. It was 20 years before I had a spring break. All repairmen in my area wanted to convert for $1200. I purchased a new set of springs for less than $200. It was not very difficult to change. This is a 16’x7’ door. I am VERY satisfied with the quality of this door. It puzzles me when people say that they don’t stand up. How poorly are they treating the door? How can it be worse than frozen shut from an ice storm. Or packed in tight with a 6’ snow drift from a blizzard? I can’t understand how people can say these are bad doors. They must be doing something very wrong. Michael k

    Not going to lie...thought this was a horrible release by LiftMaster. Battery life sucks and it uses micro usb to charge! Takes hours to get to a full charge. Not to mention that then you're taking away your keypad and camera just to charge so nothing's being monitored. So if I wanna use it consistently then I have to buy another battery? For that cost. Hell no. Was really going into this product hoping it would be a gamechanger but I think it's a flop.

    @@kaywillis5258 I’ve been a genie and Moore-o-matic door opener guy since 1974. The genie’s seemed to last about 8 years on average, the Moore-o-magic was 10 years old when I sold the home. Since I ran into the belt drive by Liftmaster (Chamberlain or Craftsman) that my son-in-law bought down the street, I won’t buy a genie. The belt ones are very quiet, especially if there are bedrooms above the garage door. I have a rental that I just replaced a Liftmaster change drive opener that was installed when the unit was new in 1995. I replaced it with a Chamberlain B2401MC, 1/2 hp belt drive (also bedrooms above the garage, tenant loves them and the MyQ). My grandson has 2 Liftmaster 1/2 hp chain drive units that are still operating and they were installed in 1996.

  • @theshazman
    @theshazman7 күн бұрын

    @@sosgds Absolutely, it's a Security 2.0+ 41D7675 Liftmaster. As for RATGDO the interface is what you want it to be. That's the beauty of Home assistant is that I can pull all kinds of telemetry, control things I never even had access to in MyQ like turning on/off remotes, utilizing the occupancy and obstruction sensors to do other things and choose how much the door should open in % value. I can also see number of bound remotes and total number of openings through the lifetime of the motor. You can build widgets and different UI cards to integrate this into whatever dashboard you're using. All of this in an air gapped environment, with no 3rd party services or a connection to the cloud. I mean I don't really think it gets better than this. Full control, no cloud telemetry, your data being siphoned or god forbid a company closes their doors and takes their servers offline.

    What misdirected advice. That vicegrip is to hold the tension on the cables before adding tension to the cables. Rather put a second vicegrip facing the other way (behind the drum) to prevent the door lifting until you have finished tensioning the springs.

  • @sosgds
    @sosgds7 күн бұрын

    Just installed a Genie 3053-TKV with the 5 piece rail. It seems to allow some flex at times that bothers me. Could the motor sense the flex as an obstruction? So, I thought about tack welding the rail pieces together (cheap). Would you bother with this? Haven't seen any Genie 1 piece rails available anywhere for sale. Thanks!

  • @sosgds

I would ensure that the belt stays tight (not too tight) and keep the rail as level as possible above the door to allow a smooth open and close experience. Even with a one piece rail there is very minor flex, yet it's not as prominent as the rail garage door openers. Hope this helps.
