Move the hot air back and forth don’t point and hold. R.I.P to that little capacitor that was ripped off the board too. I don’t even solder and this made me cringe lol

If you want solder that mcu again you must clean pads with using solderwick and then solder that mcu. That technique which you show in movie is not correct.

How much air temperature did you use for removing the chip ?

  • @Petex90

Don't want to even mention temperatures, that are needed with this s**tty rework thing, but with good weller tool with enough airflow, I use typically 365C

Indian repair shops always state that "Chinese soldering connections often break and cause white screen death". So this is pretty much the same as soldering a twenty pole LCD connection.

DIY tip: I'm no fan of gimmicky RGB lightning, but I used the MSI Tomahawk Z390 RGB's function to show CPU temperature as a visual indication. Since I have the closed case (so no glass look trough) version of the R6, I soldered a 4 wire lead with 3 resistors (leveling the R-G-B brightness) to a single 5mm RGB LED, connected it to the RGB-jumper on the motherboard and attached it close to the HDD-LED on the front panel (white milky plastic on the inside, thus shining trough, just with a tie-wrap, so gluing needed). So while blinking blue on drive activity, the indicator turns green, blue, red with the temperature. A useful visible "non-visible" extension to this case. :-)

so what was this about? youtube just randomly gave this video to me, and watching it... it doesn't make sense to me :| is all your doing is replacing a microchip?

It's the image quality demo of my self-made soldering microscope. Maybe the next video should have some more context, so also the viewers that aren't watching this in through the embedeed video window on my blog, would catch the point! This would be actually very horrendous soldering or chip replacing demo :D

Think would be better to make vertical racks on the top. So no airflow issues but you are blocking the top fans. Clever idea though!

This is a demo of how not to smd. You need to use a bigger nozzle and not lift one side of the chip - that's a sure way to stop the tracks or damage the chip.
