@@TumishangMasinti no, you need to wind it up all the way so that the power is in the spring. Then the spring is released and runs the motor. If it’s not wound up all the way it very likely will not play.

Awesome job !! I bought a little 4-3 off Craigslist for $25. Did a complete restoration like yours and it sounds great. I was lucky the peuter ortho reproducer didn’t have a single crack in it and the original grill cloth was perfect. I did have to buy a repo tone arm support bracket.

I talked to you recently about an S19 with a stuck recorder arm. I tried pushing it down with no luck. I tried moving it from inside the cabinet with no luck. Any ideas on how to get the arm to move? The pipe going down inside the cabinet is at the center back of the cabinet and will not move from that position.

I buy packages of 100 steel phonograph needles, SOFT TONE or MEDIUM TONE off eBay and I use one needle twice and then I throw it away and get another needle. The needle wears in the groove which shapes the tip of the needle so using the same needle multiple times can harm records. I do not use tungsten needles because they chew up records.

I just did a full restoration a 1926 Consolette this past April it was in really bad condition delaminated, legs coming apart. Purchased a sound box from Wyatt Markus . Now she is singing again. What a nice machine.

As per usual, excellent video. Since I've been making my own belts, I've used Loctite Gel Superglue with excellent results. Unlike other super glue products, it is flexible once dry so it works well for this application. Nowhere near the usual amount of drying time before it is usable.

@@1974hurt You're welcome, Brett! It's a fantastic product. It will even work on rubber. Best of all, the one in the plastic dispenser has a long shelf life after opening. I could have it sitting in the drawer for well over a year without it drying out or the tip getting clogged.

these cylinders are 10 bucks anywhere, it's a lot cheaper and a lot easier to replace the cylinder.
