Actually if I remember the story then it was ravana's sis who lord Rama cut the nose who take the shiva ling there remember she was a girl and the hijab it covers the nose area just keeping the eyes open others closed, well it's said that after death of ravana his sister took and placed it there so it would be away from the Hindus, that's why there is no mention because the books talks about India and it's neighboring countries but didn't streached till that far.
