tenrecs and hedgehogs should both be on insect diets, its just that people suggest catfood because they dont want to feed insects. its a misconception

i had pet hermit crabs, they need high humidity and 😮i made the mistake of buying a hermit crab kit (from petsmart what a surprise) and the kit was a glass tank instead of a bin. They need a bin for humidity because that tank was atrocious in terms of keeping humidity inside the cage so i agree with 9:11

Hey Tori! My 2year old has serious tremors when standing and walking. Vet says Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome isn't diagnosable but I am assuming that is what this is. He doesn't seem to be in pain and the vet says he probably isn't either. He is eating regularly, and running a little bit less, I assume it's because it is difficult to do so. I am just wondering if you have any experience or thoughts on this. Thanks!

This is all good advice but let's be honest it's very hard to bond with an animal that just wants to be left alone. Hedgehogs can't help that they're solitary creatures that prefer their own company. Guinea pigs make much better pets.

THANK YOU! I turned off the heater a couple days ago because the weather is warmer, but it got cold meanwhile the heater was off. So I was just cleaning out the cage and noticed the simptoms. Right now we are skin to skin.

Noticed my hedgehog didn't eat three nights ago, she did the night after, but then didn't again last night. I put some buggies in there and she pretty much ignored them and then started wobbling a little. I think she's in a cold/hibernating attempt. Our temp where I live was up the past week so I turned down my heat, and it just dropped again the past couple days. Her temp was only at 66F inside her home, and her tummy felt cool to me when I finally got her out from a spiky ball of doom for me. I turned the household heat back up and also turned her tanks heater thermostat up too. Thank you for sharing all these videos!

I recently went with my mother to check out a new school, and while the principal gave us a tour, she showed us a room with lots of reptiles and class pets, but they had a hedgehog there because the children wouldn’t take care of it… I offered to take him and I’m researching about them to make sure I have all I need because otherwise the poor thing may be put in a shelter ❤

Ugh..... my worst fear is walking into my hedgehogs room and seeing her walking and shaking again like i did when i found her cold one night 😢😢😢 i sobbed for straight HOURS after..... worst experience ever.... so glad my babygirl Pepper is still here with me today❤ she was found with over TWO HUNDRED other hedgehogs in a hoarding situation in metro Detroit Michigan just over 2 years ago. The rehabilitation woman the state placed most of them with, said within 1 month the number she had went from 80 (mostly) adults to over 200 adults and mommas and babies! I'd be SO overwhelmed! 😮

Aw, I work with both. I do love the tenrecs the most, although I have received a full tenrec chomp, and those teeth are no joke. We did have a very outgoing hedgehog, but our current one is much more shy, although she's young and she might come out of her shell more as she gets older. Tenrecs are fascinating; I wish I could go to Madagascar and look for them in the wild.
