I would be a little concerned about the toxins and heavy metals these things can build up. Purging will only remove what is in their digestive tract, the only stuff is in their fatty tissue and will just sit there. Eating a few is fine but any regular consumption might cause a lot of heavy metals to be consumed. In clean waterways it wouldn't be a problem.
