Hi there my name is Martin and welcome to Vildmark, Adventures outdoors. Vildmark is a Scandinavian word meaning wilderness. Although many of us wish we where out in the wilderness all the time, life sometimes gets in the way.
This channel is all about making the most out of the time you have and the places you go.
Join me on my excursions around the UK and abroad where we participate in bushcraft, canoeing, kayaking, packrafting, hiking, camping, fishing, hammock camping, outdoor cooking, rooftent camping in my Tentbox Cargo, projects, gear reviews and micro adventures.

Love it. What a lovely place. Would very much like to visit myself your inspiring me to make that happen ❤
Easy to do.
Fab part 1 of Sweden mate, wish it was longer! My goodness! I want those ribs!!
Bacooon!
Looks like a good adventure. Did you annoy one of the others or a mozi bite on the lip
No that’s snus! A habit I’ve had for years.
Looks nice there mate
have you got a chance to try other packrafts on ww? if so, how do they compare?
I’ve used the mrs Microraft on WW and that doesn’t compare to how this handles.
Can we use the small dehumidifiers( small single use ) to catch the moisture in the tent ?
Yes, I have brought the ones you reactivate in microwave amzn.eu/d/07BiL6v6
Can you review the x1
By aquaxtreme? I’ve tried it and they are rubbish. Poor quality material, poorly made and bad customer service. I used one when I made this video and as you can see it failed. kzread.info/head/PLC4XQXYeQTQReSAEGd7lY3zjqjbsWN1FX&si=iJ0rnWXIVivkR6QF
Would you recommend the self bailing version ?
I wouldn’t recommend any aquaxtreme packrafts
@@Vildmark there quality drop or something ?
@aaronlacroix3722 just think they are bad design and poor quality
Brilliant to watch. Thanks so much. As far as I know there's nothing even close in Europe in the price range, is there? I was originally literally looking for something I could stow a pack in while swimming across lakes, downriver when there are no paths, etc., but no one seems to make such a thing.
There are swim float you can store bags in I believe.
WOW! Losby is a childhood area! I have camped here myself.
Good laugh that. Another stunning area of Norway there mate. I'd have definitely been happy with the catches you caught. Looking forward to Sweden
Cheers. Will start them on the weekend.
Really great video. Thanks for making it.
No problem. Thank for watching
you sawing towards your hand while 3 inches away from your fingers is hard to watch
Nice video! You've inspired me to try to get up there at some point. Maybe next summer. Can I ask you about transport? I live just outside London. I noticed you flew, but you also had a car. Did Matt drive up from the uk, or get a ferry? Or is the van a rental? Any recommendations on what's best? Thanks again!
Hi mate I’m in the process of sorting through this years trip to Glaskogen. This year I flew to Oslo then hired a car. It’s only 2.5 hours from the airport. You will go through a town called Charlottenberg which has a massive supermarket so you can stock up on route. It is really easy to get there from the UK by flight although the car rental many cheap (but worth having it)
SUPER useful
Well I was just about to order this for my awning and thankfully came across this honest video I shan’t be ordering it now
Great review! If you don't mind me asking; how tall are you and how heavy are you? Been looking to buy this, but I'm uncertain about the 'regular' or the XL.
I’m 183 and weigh 95kg. I’m at the maximum weight really with a 10kg bag. Link to the product: www.packrafting-store.de/?wsa=cj1bi35ed12fd and a 5% discount code: Vildmark5
@@Vildmark Thanks for the quick reply, as I am slightly heavier than you I should probably go for the XL.
@SilentDude95 sounds like the best idea. You don’t want to look like a submarine.
😂 101 ways to prepare bacon! The snoring hog might need to watch out. : )
😂😂
Great first episode Martin 🙂🤙
Looks beautiful! X
It was.
Fab first episode Martin, really enjoyed that. Bacon, Bacon then absolutely more Bacon 😅. A ropey start with the weather but looks to be picking up nicely pal. 👌 thanks buddy. P.S. I'm looking for a decent water proof Jacket and remembered you talking about your green one, do you happy to have a link pal
Hi, great review. I’ve seen some ford ranger vids with the roof tent on the rear canopy of the truck, would this be an option for you, depending on canopy weight limits etc?
Had thought of that but it’s not possible due to weight.
DIY Packraft Atlin Model is designed for bikerafting with a larger square nose.
Looks very nice. Do you know if MRS has plans to sell those to the wide audience at some point, or they are still experimenting?
They are available on request.
@@Vildmark How does that work, do you contact the distributor store staff? I mean, there are multiple MRS distributors (like microrafting in the US), but taking customized orders for models that even aren't on their website is probably a feature of just few of them?
@some_developer in the US contact Microrafting and mention that you’ve spoken to martin at vildmark.co.uk and asked about having a nomad xl made
@@Vildmark Aha, thanks a lot!
Hi great vid first timer just what need purchased the sigma from your link for me and my husky 😊
Great. Let us see some photos on Instagram. @vildmark.co.uk
Hi. You briefly mentioned, but didn't show. Does your unit show when it's getting juice from a solar panel. Ive attached my panel, through the input next to the Andeson, as i dont have that connection, and i get no reading at all...
Yes it does, it shows the wattage in
@@Vildmark ... Okay. I may get an Anderson cable and see if it makes a difference.
Excellent review !... Thanks for doing that.. I have just ordered one..
They are brilliant bits of gear.
Śląska, Myśliwska, pieczone ogórki...& smacznego ❤ Do you have a polish family? 👍
moja żona jest Polką
@@Vildmarkto już wszystko jasne!! Now all is clear 👍👍...
enjoyed it
A well presented video. There are many reviews for the S300 on Ytube, unfortunately none of the reviews have yet to show that if you do not charge the S300 for 2 weeks, then you will find a completely dead battery, as the Quiescent current draw is very high. This renders this unit useless as a reliable emergency backup power source. Fully charge the unit & then let it stand for 2 weeks & see what capacity you have left after that time. Its a known to Allpowers fault, that they wont offer a fix for, which is a shame as the build quality & options this unit offers is very good for the price.
That is something I have just noticed as well
I bought mine, left it for 12 days and it lost 10 percent, so I can kinda believe that.
Hello! How is ventilation and do you still recommend these bad boys?💪🏼
There’s no real ventilation as these are a pure leather boot. Wool socks and dry them out.
I can't find Ginge Made anywhere on the internet. have I spelt it wrong? thanks. awesome video
Find him on Instagram: ginger scarf official
No fishing pack rafts?
How much weight can this pack carry?
States up to 25kg
@@Vildmark I read about your 10-day trip in Sweden, was it without hiking or were you able to limit your pack to 25 kg?
@Packraft_Stories it’s with hiking. Pack weight is 17kg
@@Vildmark Wow, that is impressive!
I enjoyed that bro..... What a beautiful part of the world 👌😎
As you, I really enjoy the planning process as well :). Thank you for all the inspiration you provide through your videos! You've also reminded me of what great and magical adventures are to be had in Glaskogens Naturrreservat (where I basically spent a Summer a long time ago) via your videos, as well as all this interesting and insightful material you've released on the topic of packrafting. I'm aiming to try packrafting out in the Summer (in Tiveden, Sweden) and then decide on what gear to get. You seem very happy with your MRS Microraft and The Flex PR packraft bag. I am looking to see what options there are for a "raftpack"/"packraft" bag here in Sweden. So far, I've lucked out but I am hoping I'll be able to get better answers in the coming months.
Maybe I should add as well that weather here in mid-Sweden has been sunny and warm basically the last two weeks. Here's hoping you'll be able to soak up some sun when you get here and that the bug-situation won't be too bad.
Thank you so much for the reply and thank you for becoming a patreon. There are a few Swedish Packrafting companies and groups on Facebook. I’ll send you the details to them when I get the chance. Packrafting is a great sport for the Swedish environment, just wish I lived there permanently. The MRS Microraft is a great packraft and many people in Sweden / Norway use these.
@@Vildmark Thank you :)
There is a german company called current-raft, they have also specific bike rafting model(s).
What brand is your PFD? Make and model if you can please. Hard to locate here 🇨🇦. Good idea about using an emergency blanket. I will too going fwd
Those are not made and tbh not recommended after I’ve used it for a while. I have since found the buoy boy by Anfibio which is perfect. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5iBxqNxoqrLfbA.htmlsi=qvJHA3pPvqQ5qa1z www.packrafting-store.de/?wsa=cj1bi35ed12fd
Well what can you say about that, everyone loves a gear load out vid, thanks for sharing this with us, must have take a bit of time to put all that lot together and add all the links below, looking forward to the video thatll be coming in the future off the back of this one
A little flask for nightcaps? 😀 hope its a fun trip.
Oh yeah. Forgot to add that I decant a bottle of rum into a plastic bottle to save weight.
Next to going on a trip I get a lot of enjoyment planning and getting kit ready for the trip. Looking forward to your adventure. Thanks Jim
For me the same! It’s perfect for the cold dark winter nights, researching, planning and preparing.
