One bit of history I feel is very important too is Spyderco, Sal Glesser specifically. The creator of the company is credited with creating the first "tactical" one hand opening folder with a pocket clip. Bob Terzoula, who carried a "clip-it" spyderco model for years (along with others like Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel, Spencer Frazier of SOG) coined the term tactical folder, but was inspired by Sal and his Spydercos. Al Mar had asked permission to use his clip design and Cold Steel even paid royalties voluntarily to him for using the clip design. Sal inspired others to make tactical designs too such as Les deAsis of Benchmade and Tony Marfione of Microtech because of his clipped knives. It was because of Mr. Glesser that we even had the other companies that created those other modern innovations like the Axis Lock and such. A clip is just as important to a reviewer as the steel these days. "How deep does it carry? What's the tension? Reversible? Tip up?" Very good video, short enough to be to the point without rambling but gave a great broad overview of everything.
