  Hi Sam, I always get the veg bags, and I started getting fish and prawns in it. I mentioned it to them, and they said some vegetarians eat fish. I said that's a pescatarian, not vegi. They made me feel so awkward and ungrateful that I've decided not to bother with them now. Very hit and miss with them xx

  Joined the scheme but havent taken any bags yet. Just cant afford 17 pound family bags not to be good enough. You can get a lot from Aldi for 17 pound after all. Your videos helped me.

  Mine wasn't great this week, I have been getting the £17 one because Iv been feeding my grandchildren during the week. 2 packs of dripping not seen that for years and never used it, i have it given it to a neighbour. A bunch of bananas were unusable and had to be put in the compost. I did get 2packs of salmon but I don't eat fish. I have frozen that and I will give it to my mother when I see her. 4 loaves of hovis that was 3 days out of date. Did I get my moneys worth probably, but it was not the best week Iv had. Yes I would complain that your requesting vegetarian but not getting it, but it is possible that a volunteer has just handed you the wrong bag.

  hi Samantha i would mention to them about the cupboard staples not always being what you have requested. i didnt ask for one last week as i knew i couldnt get there to collect. the week before i got the family one but at £17 its not great. its not anything extra to the £8.50 one its just double bags of each so im sticking with the £8.50 one from now on. in the last one i did get 2 massive bags of quorn battered 'chicken type' nuggets though, i think they were 2kg each bag so i was chuffed to bits with them. id say them alone would have been worth at least £6 maybe more. ive requested one for this friday but wont know until tomorrow if ive made the list or not🤞❤️

  Yes you can put potato waffles in the toaster, daughter does this all the time. Pecorino is the vegetarian version of Italian hard cheese. I would mention it to them Samantha, they may not even realise these items are not for vegetarian's.

  Yes, you should remind them to be more watchful of ingredient lists on jared goods. If it’s all volunteer help packing the bags some may not be as aware as others of what is or is not suitable. Susan

  @user-sh6um1ns6k I don't tend to meal plan, I do have a lot of produce in the cupboards and I can a lot of my own food so I can grab a meal by putting together from what I have. Tonight's tea was flatbread pizza using the free fkatbreads I got from Olio with homemade rhubarb ketchup and veggies I got fresh, last night's was a couple of bags of stir fry mix that I then wrapped in rice paper parcels I got earlier this year and air fried them off, we added fake meat pieces I got from The Bread and Butter Thing a couple of months ago. Just a couple of things I've made to give you an idea 💡

  @janepennock6933 Olios is a bit hit and miss, so when I see stuff, I know I can use, I grab it. I'm probably going to get a TBBT next week I'm averaging about 1 a month.

  I freeze extra pasta sauce, pesto and Greek yogurt in ice cube trays (mine hold exactly a tbsp). Once frozen put in a freezer bag and just take out exactly what I need. It saves wasting loads of half used jars/containers of things-always a good thing ❤

  With the pesto Samantha, if you turn the top one upside down would give you a flat surface to use.

  Let me know what he thinks, it is totally a new favourite for us. I froze 3 portions and Chris is going to use them when he goes to his friends on a Monday and saves him from buying something for his tea. He said it microwaved really well. 😊

  another brilliant TBBT haul.. i got one yesterday but was going into town with daughter so asked hubby to go queue and get it for me, expecting him to have a melt down & huge moan but he didnt mind and texted me to tell me all the goodies that were in it. he is very impressed with these and asks me now every week if ive made the list or not😂. i dont think i will be on next weeks as ive been fortunate enough to be on the last 2 weeks. i can honestly say we have never been dissapointed in what we have received in our bags. have a lovely weekend❤

  I'd do stuffed marrow with that courgette, as you ate veggie I'd use lentil and rice pilaf as the stuffing, rather than meat.

  Hi Sam, great haul. Thanks for the cheese tip! Also, you can make pickles with the courgette or you can combine it with the raspberries to make jam. I have recipes for this using raspberry or strawberry jello as the flavoring but I'm sure you could use the fresh fruit. That would go well with the cheese and some crackers for a snack!

  @amandac9210 Yes we're both vegetarian, Chris is just veggie I tend to be more plant based, I will only eat eggs that come from my friends chickens and only occasionally eat dairy cheese. Welcome to the channel.im glad you are enjoying it 😀

  Ours had ten Tom of onions, carrots and red cabbage this week, I'v cooked the cabbage down with Apple, onion and mixed spice today and it's now in the freezer. I'm making carrot and coriander soup tomorrow and the bulk of that will also be frozen. Iv also had pukka tea bags for the last couple of weeks and they are about £4.50 a box

  @@leahmorris343 me too, cant believe my hubby didnt mind going, we got prawns and lambs liver yesterday so for his dinner tonight hes having liver & onions with yorkshire puds and im going to make a prawn mayo sandwich filling to go in the fridge for my lunches. cant thank Samantha enough for telling us about TBBT . i used to use olio but havent had anything from there for months but dont really need it now as TBBT helps out a lot ❤️

I got spicy carrot and parsnip soup going at the moment made from what I got to be shared with my friend who comes with me. We share things and batch cook then freeze if we need to

  What an excellent haul! Well, aside from the Pop Tarts... I sometimes had them when I was a child (I'm Canadian), but they certainly don't evoke pleasant memories - and I imagine they haven't improved since then! Making jam from all the fruit is a great idea, and I bet raspberry-nectarine-peach jam will be absolutely delicious.

  Daughter loves Colemans Tartare Sauce, only buy when it's on offer. Started keeping the jars, realised they are a really good size for keeping spices. Originally was using Tesco's cooked Beetroot jars, over 20 years ago before moving to Ireland I used the Dow Egberts coffee jars (when I used to drink coffee). Colemans ones are great, really good size, win, win; she's get to have a more expensive Tartare Sauce and I get a new spice jar. One spice I have is, Korean red chilli flakes (coarse) really good flavour and not too much heat. Still use the beetroot jars for whole herbs like bay leaves and cinnamon sticks.

  Oh great shopping that meat ball mix you could make burgers with it my son loves wat noodles and hads thin steak with it you got some bargain in the sticker rang I got milk Monday with a sticker on a 4 pint milk for a pound and the usd by date is today and always pick bread up when it's gif a sticker on .and my son at the moment loves chips made with peeledpotatoes he always says mum make your own chips I'd ratherhave my own chips and one of my favorite teas is chips egg and beans I've got to have beans over chips love fran ❤xxxx

  @@tryingtogetby mum always said so long as you have potatoes in cheese beans eggs and bread butter you can always make a meal I love beans on toast and a fried egg on top I put the egg yolk down and press it with my fork so the yolk goes in the besnsyumyum love fran xxx

  Great result - especially with the spaghetti and meatballs. Have you any garden videos planned - we've done well on currants and raspberries but no sign of any courgettes yet, tomatoes are only just flowering but pulling cucumbers now. Had a really poor crop from gooseberry bush but used them with some from last year, added raspberries and made a crumble, whilst we were cooking a batch of rhubarb crumbles for friends. Growing rhubarb makes us very popular this time of year 😂 Enjoyed the video -- brilliant monthly result.

  I won 4 packs of avocado's free on the Lidl app, and I've no idea what to do with them. I've never actually tasted one, but I like most stuff, and will try to use them. We won, melon, strawberries, 2 mangos, 2 grapefuit, oranges and grape too which all got eaten, and yet to try plums too. I guess it was a special offer thing. Thanks for your video

  We've not been to Lidl for a while it is possible they have stopped doing them. However before I found them hubby asked and was told they didn't know. I found them after the till in the past. Hope this helps.

  That's my kind of recipe - chuck bits and bobs into a pan and see what happens! (Love that even the jar does double duty as potato smasher 😆) For tins, most frozen foods, cheese and yogurt, I don't really look at best-before dates, except when it comes to which one I'll use first.
