Thank you so much - just fixed my shower £14.95, you're a star!
Pleased it helped and thanks for the comment!
Merci pour l’explication très claire
I thought the grass cutting video couldn't be beaten, but H Wren yet again doesn't disappoint. This might be my new video to watch when I'm struggling to get to sleep. My only criticism is that you time lapsed it. The drying stage should have been shown in real time, that would have been awesome 👌
Ha Ha Class! Pleased you enjoyed it Pal, maybe if I have nothing at all to do I will do a real time one, maybe painting some war hammer models or something interesting like that.
Hi. Are panel works - can hear resident, they can hear visit, resident can unlock door - we just can't hear buttons buzz and no buzz sound in flat. This is all 6 flats. Any idea what this can be? We have an Elvox 8202. Thanks
I am not familiar with the Elvox system, however I would guess the problem will be in the call panel next to the door as the buzzers in the hand sets very rarely fail especially all 6. If you look at my very first you tube video, this is a fault which appears to be the same as you describe, but on a Videx panel but may be of some help. Thanks for watching and the comment!
@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD thanks for the reply. It's just the buzzer which isn't working. Any idea where the buzzer sound on the outside intercom panel comes from, when you press the buttons? Thanks
Assuming this is similar to the Videx systems, there is a buzzer built inside each handset in the flats / apartments. The call panel at the front door then has a button / switch for each flat number. Pressing this button supplies voltage to the handset buzzer in the flat. These can sometimes be fixed by spraying the back of the button where the contacts are wit some contact cleaner spray. Just a thought, or were you referring to the buzzing which can be heard by the visitor (so they know the door is open) when you press the door open button on your handset in the flat? If so, that noise is actually produced by the electric lock release at the door. If thats the case it could be a faulty electric release or power supply to the electric release.
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD both, flat no buzz sound and no buzz sound to buttons of outside wall panel. Everything else seems to work.
TBH not sure what that would be. I know videx use a power supply with two outputs, one AC for the buzzer and door release and one DC for the speech. If its the same on your system and the AC side failed you would have speech but no door release but your release is working, strange. Its probably going to need a engineer to have a look at it, without actually seeing it its all guess work from me anyway. Sorry I cant be of any more help than that. When you get it sorted, let me know what it turned out to be.
Top man, great review. I have pulled the trigger and bought one after your detailed review.👍
You wont be disappointed, mines still going strong after 7 months or so of daily use! TBH I sometimes cant be bothered using the cover and have still used my old towel LOL, (thats if Im just nipping from the van and its a light shower) and the tape measure does sometimes get knocked off being on the inside as I thought it might, but thats the only minor issue. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Hello this video is very helpful - but though I have a similar system I cant seem to stop the drip outside to the overflow - the bit that you tightened so that the water level can be adjusted - mine doesn't seem to have much scope for tightening or loosening. Any helpful tip ?
The adjustment will work only if the diaphragm washer in the fill valve is in good condition. If this has worn, adjustment will not not fix the overflow problem. have a look at another one of my videos where I replace the diaphragm washer. kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6iIyNqPkpW2oag.html Hopefully that will help! Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD thank you!
is that a westwood you use?
Yes it is. Very old around mid 80's but still going strong, it has had a the bigger 16HP V twin engine fitted to it. Thanks for watching and the comment!
how long does round up have to be down before rain?
All it says on the bottle is not to use if rain is likely. I would say it would definitely need to dry before it rains and ideally I wouldn't bother using it unless it was going to be dry for a good few hrs after, at least 5 or 6.
Im having this problem now. But no sound at all both ways. Happened after storm
Probably rain related. I did have one where the microphone on the external call panel had water leak into it and failed. From memory I think it did still work slightly but extremely quiet / muffled. You might be lucky and may start working if it dries out.
Nice to see the surgery have got rid of the bushes out the front and got the fence sorted out the back. Might have to come down for one of them company haircuts!!👍😁
Company haircuts ha ha! we actually go to the barbers now believe it or not, no more DIY workshop haircuts LOL. Aye much easier now the bushes and tress have been removed and a lot less leaves! New fence at back but the side one is about to fall down still.
Hope it works my van has a similar peoblem
Perfect seems like a magic spray I will invest in some for My poorly van cheers
What sort of van do you have? You will have to let me know if it works. good luck!
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD I have a Bedford
Hello great demo. I am setting up something very similar, where did you get the land drain from? And how long thanks
I have an account with JT Dove and pretty certain I bought it from them. I honestly cant remember what length it was but I know I had a few small scrap bits laying around which I used. I think it will probably have been a 25m coil I bought plus maybe 6 or 8m in scrap bits. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Legend! This just fixed my shower!! Thanks ☺️
Pleased it helped. Thanks for watching and the comment!
where did you get the new solenoid from please
I think I bought this one from The Shower Doctor through Amazon, but not 100% certain. I have put some info in the video description which will help you source one. Hope this helps.
This is what maintenance videos should be! Very simple and straightforward instructions, and well-shot and well-lit video. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment!
Just out of curiosity do you use the same handset to test every kind of system?
All but one of the blocks of flats I look after have the Videx 8000 series intercoms so I have only ever used this Videx handset with the those. I imagine they could possibly be used on other makes but have never needed to as yet so honestly not 100% sure.
where can i buy one of those primer pumps from
The primer pump for the fuel filter is part of the van, so no need to buy anything else. Hope that helps.
Helpful vid mate, bit concerned about the fact that you carry a small tub of Vaseline around with you in your back pocket tho
Ha Ha, that vaseline has come in handy many times for various things! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Used that strimmer returned it straight away, it's poor. Too short for a start so u have to lean over so bad on the back. Single strimmer line so struggles with any slightly thick grass and takes a long time. The larger strimmer Hawksmoor do appeared to be decent but already seems to have a fault. Cuts out on first use, so taking that back as well! Expected better quality from Toolstation.
Yes it could do with the handle being longer or adjustable. To be fair, mine is still going strong and does the job I need well, which is just trimming the edges of the lawn which aren't very long. I would called it a grass trimmer rather than a strimmer. Thanks for watching and the comment!
before I watch to the end of the video... change loudspeaker in ext unit and the problem is fixed. am I right?
:))) I was right. And everytime the caller who reported the problem is NOT HOME so we can't test it with him !!!!!
One of my pet hates, making appointments and the customer not even being there. Thanks for watching and the comment!
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD years ago I got job to install 121 intercoms, biggest building in my town. Urmet, digital, three access door control units, with 27' TV integrated on external wall for nubmers and caller id names. Everything went well, but at the end there was ONE LAST IDIOT in that building that I couldn't get to change his speaker in his apartment. I had to postpone 1 month to write a check to get the whole money because of that man. waaaaa
Yes unfortunately there is the odd customer like that, touch wood I haven't had one for a while!
Thank you very much...!!!
Thanks for watching and the comment! Hope it helped.
Thank you ! So it is easier ,if I' ve seen how to remove the panel.
Pleased it helped! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Thanks for the video. Just one thing for feedback and info. I got one of those exact Mulga valves from Screwfix myself that you are using here. They are generally well reviewed on Screwfix and do have a 10 year guarantee, but the hand dials for pressure and temp are really very difficult to adjust when soapy and wet because of the design of the dial itself - almost impossible to rotate. Thought Id mention this as I would definitely question their suitability in situations where this may be problematic for some more than others. Also, the reason I am reviewing your video it that I have had to replace the valve after 10 months use as the cartridge within the valve is broke! Thankfully Screwfix will cover the replacement as it is still under guarantee. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks for this info. Up to now there have been no issues with this one I installed, however it is only a guest room so probably only used a few times a month. Hopefully your replacement will last longer. Hope all goes well swapping it over.
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD 🤞
Just wondering, if the valve is linked to a shower pump, is it just a matter of closing off the flow and return to the pump and then go ahead and replace the valve? Thanks
If linked to a pump, there will probably be hot and cold feed to the pump and then from the pump to the shower valve. Yes, isolate both of those at the pump then double check you have no water at the shower valve and you should be good to go. Thanks for watching and the comment!
This helped, Thank you!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching and the comment!
This was so useful. Thanks.
Glad it has been a help. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Great job Haydn I remember when we were putting central heating into my parents house in the 70's and we were taking out the storage heaters, they were the big ones and they weighed a ton,we thought we could just disconnect them and lift them off the wall,no chance, had to strip them down and remove the bricks to shift them, another enjoyable video, looking forward to your next one,the variety of jobs you do is brilliant 👏
Those bricks weigh a fair bit! Even that little one in the video would be fairly heavy to move with the bricks in. The even bigger ones would probably weigh 150kg at a guess, certainly not light!
Keep having to search for your content Haydn as I'm not getting any of them suggested, that's why I'm late commenting, great job fitting that arm rest, you would think it was factory fitted, another enjoyable video
Just double check you have clicked for "all" on the notification bell thing on my channel. If thats still not working, not sure why? Having that armrest makes it feel far more comfy to drive around in. Thanks again for watching and the comment.
That's brilliant, never seen one with a cover, it's amazing how many different tools we use,I used to look forward to the Snap-on tool van coming to the garage in the 70's,as you say it was like christmas when you stepped up into the back of the van and saw all the tools on display, another enjoyable video Haydn
Tbh the cover is good, but I find sometimes I cant be bothered to unroll it so end up putting my towel over it like I always used to with my old bag. tools for us are defo like toys to kids! As always thanks for watching and the comments.
That's a nice bit of kit Haydn, certainly very handy in your line of work, another enjoyable video
Yes, its one of those things that I use only a few times a year, but definitely it very handy.
Just did mine following your instructions! Job I’ve been putting off for a year and took 1 hour!
Pleased it helped! thanks for watching and the comment.
Life saver! We have a Peugeot expert and could not find instructions anywhere on how to get the centre bit of dash off to access the heating control bulb etc. Much appreciated!
I'm pleased it helped! Thanks for watching and the comment!
The son lamps are brighter and a nicer coulr
Yes I agree, the SON give out much nicer light. Unfortunately they are going to be unavailable in the near future so will be more LED. I changed these mainly to save on electric cost as ours went through the roof. At first I didn't like them but TBH got used to them now. Thanks for the comment!
Not that easy is it
Job is wrong to start with.
New kac call point
I have a question. I recently just moved into a flat, now we had a friend put up the light fixtures and yesterday they both just stopped working, we've checked the fuse box, they're all on, but it's affected my use of the kitchen sockets. What might be the problem?
Without seeing it, I cant advise for certain. Have you checked RCD in the fuse board as well as the Mcb? The only thing that springs to mind is that one of the lights may be faulty and tripped the RCD which will protect multiple circuits, hence affecting your sockets. Other than that, the lighting circuits should have no effect on you sockets.
Thanks for sharing Some companies reckon they do 300 - 400 items a day. This is impossible to test and visual etc. properly. I recently did a local church which in fact I do every year as my wife attends there. I`ve done it around 10 years now so I know most of the stuff there and my wife helps me with locating stuff and filling in Pat labels as I don`t have a printer. I tested 46 items and this took around 2.5 hours with the wifes help. I probably could have had it done in 40 minutes if trained as a "Sticker engineer" Cheers
I recently did a PAT test which had been done previously by a big testing company. I found 13A fuses in table lamps along with a few other small issues which proved they either didn't open the plug, or were not competent. (at a guess probably both hah ha). Thanks for watching and the comment!
Excellent video on showing the removal process. I have a intermitent fault with the heater blower, changed the resistor and still the same. Fuse is ok as it works sometimes. Been advised it could be the control panel itself. So, much needed info on how to get it out. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it has been of use. Good luck with the job, thanks for watching and the comment!
Great video and thanks for your help Haydn 👍 this saved me a lot of unnecessary bother
Glad it was a help. Thanks for watching and the comment!
What happened to testing for safe isolation ?.
Ah, good old storage heaters. Takes me back to starting out with you, nice to see you've had a trim for the video!! 😁
I have a trim every 3 months, whether I need one or not ha ha!
Why do I suddenly feel like a coffee?
Cheers lad. What volt stick do you use here?
There's no markings on it that I can see (had it a long time and have worn off), but I'm pretty sure it is C.K. Just googled it, I think its the CK T2272. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Great video cheers, doing mine tomorrow with a part from the breakers yard
Hope it all goes well! Try and get some door card clips as you are more than likely going to break some like I did. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Great video! I have same from 2014 and I can't find the DPF sensor, DPF was flushed and the garage told me I need a new DPF sensor. Thanks
I'm pretty certain mine doesn't have a DPF on it. when I turn the ignition on, lights such as the EML light up but not one for a DPF (I can see on the dash where it should light up). Usually there are two thin pipes on a DPF filter, one to the front and one to the rear, and these would lead back to the sensor which I believe measures pressure before the DPF and after the DPF. Thanks for watching and the comment.
God u can come and sort my wiring out any day lol ❤ 😉 x
Adhesive will only work for a limited time, that's why we need a mechanical fix like a copper strip. I've never found a slate or tile that had been stuck down to still be stuck down by the time I got to lift it.
The bane of all mechanics lives, rusty bolts that shear off,I certainly don't miss that especially when it included skint knuckles, another good video, you have a great mix of skills my friend and I look forward to see what you are doing next,I take it the H stands for Hayden going by your van reg
Yes I always expect things to be seized, if they aren't its a bonus! Yes, actually spelt Haydn so the reg is quite good, I wanted H4YDN but someone already has that so H4YBN with a screw through the B does the trick! A bit naughty using the screw with a yellow cap, but touch wood, had it for 20 years or so and had no bother except for MOT when I have to replace the screw caps. Thanks for watching and the comment!
@@HWrenMaintenanceServicesLTD I've seen a few private reg's with strategically placed screw caps yellow and black so as to change the plate,as long as it doesn't trigger an NPR camera then your ok,I wanted R1 CKY for Ricky or C4 ROL for my wife Carol but no chance of getting them and if they were available the would be too expensive
