I like the idea of keeping old video out there for preservation in the Internet Era. I collect commercials, particularly in their original context, mainly VHS recordings from 70's/80's over-the-air broadcasts.
Abusive, inane, redundant, incomprehensible, and bother-bot comments will be astrally projected.
My blogs:
oldtvads.blogspot.com (old TV commercials, particularly 70's and 80's New York City-area);
sitthroughable.blogspot.com (the 70's Newsday movie reviews of the ever-pithy John Cashman);
and dontparade.blogspot.com (my writings and other nonsense).
And if you are enjoying the NYC-area content, be sure to check out my “Retro New York City Local TV Stations” group on Facebook, with bonus clips and back-in-the-day pages of listings and ads from TV Guide and the Newsday TV Book:

WOW. I can't believe the flashback I got from seeing this commercial again for the first time in years. They really don't make commercials like this anymore. I miss them.
Benson and Webster
Do anyone have the WABC TV commercial for best of class of 1983?
😳😲🙂🙃.
ALTHOUGH I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS, ALL I CAN SAY IS: IN MEMORIAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE THE MEMORIES OF LIBERTY WEEKEND AND THE STATUE OF LIBERTY CENTENNIAL, AND THANKFULLY, I WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Bill Fyffe
Must be 12 years & older to use Vote Toothpaste.
It was Phil Tonken.
so sick of how classic fairy tale "tropes" are considered sexist now, so the format is now dead and buried, never to be revisited. we've lost an integral part of our folklore's history.
I can't believe they gave him the Penske file.
I was 2 years old at the time
We did this cool adventure. Not sure how my husband convinced me. It was grand but too over the top for someone not in love with flying or traveling over the ocean. 😊
*ALL NEW!* But… this film was 18 years old in 1985, that’s funny because WOR put a trailer there.
During the summer, my brother and I weren’t allowed into the house until after 11 PM. Thankfully, my neighborhood was well lit. However, it was still weird being the only two kids still out after the lights came on.
I'll have to take Artie Johnson's word for it that a blister on your thing can be painful! Lol
Shea stadium lets go Mets
I hope y'all will reply to this wasn't this aired after CBS Late Night??????!!!
Correct, although there wasn’t always a second (late late) movie.
These commercials made me want to grow up to be a pampered wife.
The audio sucks!
Sounds okay in my earbuds, just a little tinny. I’m sorry the audio of this forty-year-old VHS tape recording didn’t live up to your expectations. Refunds, as always, at the door.
Clara Peller in these moments: -Wendy's "Where's the beef?" -Prego "There's the beef." -After getting fired from Wendy's "There goes the beef."
I was 2 years old living in Manhattan nyc with my mom
Awesome
All voiceovers by Chuck Caron.
Fookin' death trap now innit?
I just watched screamers, and was impressed with her ultracool and relaxed style. In a parallel reality she has been an A-lister up there with Angelina Jolie and co. Maybe she was Trinity in place of Carrie Anne Moss in another reality’s version of the Matrix. Billie Eilish channels a similar cool.
A guy banging a door with a sledge hammer..😂😂😂 They just don't have awesome commercials like that today, everything is too literal and serious..
i needs me some gebco
We had a Castro Convertible couch (w/ matching easy rocker) and the coffee table that converts into a dining table.
Back when hit songs were made into TV movies. 😂
0:25 …And that’s for the best that there isn’t.
I used to work in the TV department at TSS in West Babylon, NY while going to school back in the early '80's. We got full medical and dental benefits, we received commission in sales along with our pay rate, and time and a half on Sundays and holidays. For a young kid this wasn't bad for a part time job. During most of the summer, they would let us work full time. This helped pay for my college education, which was much more affordable back then. A different era, to say the least.
We need this movie! The song is great!
One White, One Black, One Blonde, One surefire recipe for Checkered Justice. The Mod Squad was squalid crap.
Yes and I remember this being on WCBS between game shows back in the day! As well as WWOR!
Fun fact: Suzette Charles, Miss America 1984(b), was considered for the role of Sondra in The Cosby Show.
You uploaded the Lifetime network from October 1985.
You've got it, Victor.
“Dress to Impress!”
Tom Kennedy Was A Great Host On The Price Is Right!
To bring out the movie “Remember When” was supposed to be the 50th anniversary of a made for TV movie starring Jack Warden. And Jack shared the same birthday as me. Even though he passed away back in 2006 due to cardiovascular disease. And he was a a New Jersey native back then.
Who was the voice in “Remember When” slide on The Late Late Show 2?
$43 today would be around $125. That's still not too bad, especially for a New York hotel.
"What ever happened to solar energy?", a question that has been asked(and will be asked), every few decades.
I used to love these commercials for some reason 😊 something about the voice and the swingin groove ❤️
Been on right before Wheel of Fortune ever since
The Late Late Show 2, I didn't think there was such a thing. It would normally be The Late Show then the Late Late Show. WABC in the 90s would also sometimes have a "Late Movie 2". This is the kind of stuff I always love to see, especially when there's an announcement about the next movie!
How late was this aired? 2AM?
@@AdamJ617 Safe to say around that time, the first movie started around 12.
Can you upload the Lifetime network on-air promotion feed from pre-1986, 1986 brand, 1987-93?
This commercial simulates hearing loss
I'll bet she enjoyed watching Jeannie turn him into various things.
When I hear it now it brings tears to my eyes.
1:27- "I took my pet duck out for a walk because my pet iguana is afraid of heavy traffic."
