I am so glad you talk about this topic. I am 16 days post op and really struggling with food thoughts. Prior to surgery, I had a nutritionist that I was seing for over 2 years, she was telling me the same thing. I need to be ok with having those foods and be comfortable with it. But that advice didn’t get me anywhere, just ended up gaining even more weight.
Congrats on your journey. I am 18 years out. Best thing i ever did. Regain is about food usually.
I am in the stages of trying to get Gastric Bypass. I am about half way through and in about 2 months I will hopefully have my surgery date.
I am currently on the pre-op diet. My surgery is on the 10th. Your videos have helped me so much. I found your channel about a year ago and did not subscribe and could not find you for some time. I'm so happy to hear you now!!!
I found your channel when I started my journey a year and a half ago. I barely got my surgery date after a lot of trouble. You have helped me so much!!!
I am in line to have surgery, just went to the introductory session on Monday. I also know, being in Canada, that winter is a hard time to stay active. Intellectually, I know that just dressing for the weather and getting out in it is the best thing to do, but it is harder said than done! I am very interested in your book! Don't lose heart, everyone gets fluffier in the winter!
You're making your videos too long to talk about things that are really not important and you really just need to tell about what you're weighing and what you're eating
It would be nice if you let us know how much you have lost.
That's what I am afraid of. I am in full fluid stage right now and I am taking the smallest amount on my baby spoon as possible ... cottage cheese and yogurt are my staples right now
I'm so grateful to you for making this video! It's soo helpful for me! ❤
Thank you so so much!! You are such an inspiration to me! I find your videos very helpful and informative, genuine and empathetic. Please keep making them! ❤
What about hairloss?
congratulations
Curious…what medication did you take for your migraine? I suffer from them and was told my go to, Excedrin Migraine, would no longer be allowed.
Thank you for sharing. I’m having a gastric sleeve revision to the bypass due to developing severe acid reflux. I got diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus which was caused by acid reflux. Surgeon says a revision to gastric bypass will fix it. Pretty nervous. Never wanted another operation but I’m sick of the acid reflux and Barrett’s esophagus. So yes. Nervous. Kinda excited. Also. Just curious. Can you have a beer here and there after bypass? Like a year out? Anyways. Thank you for sharing. My surgery is in a week.
Looking beautiful! So glad to see your video ❤. Take care 🌸💗💝😘💕
Hi! My name is Debbie…I just found you! I have my surgery scheduled July 16th! I’m so happy I found you! I am excited and scared too! Listening to you has been a real blessing…Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your health journey! You are beautiful! And girl, your skin is gorgeous!! ❤
Thank you so much for your video! It's very helpful for me to understand the process! I hope your surgery went well!! ❤
You are looking so well and healthy and the trendy new bob really suits you ❤
U got this . One day at a time . Uve already Come so far . Nice weather outside for à good walk with the fam . Keep it up!!!! U r glowing 🥰🥰
Thanks love. I appreciate you !!!
Your hair looks adorable and so healthy! Love the color! Years ago I worked overnight shift and YES…. That can affect your weight….. it is so hard on your body. I am 19 weeks post op RNY and down 65 lbs….l only lose 1-2 lbs a week lately….. I know that is still good, but just thought I would still be losing more each week at this point….. not complaining…. I will take any loss. Just curious - did you have the same experience? When did you notice that your hair loss started to slow down? Thanks for any info….. thanks for another good video. Appreciate you!
Hi Mary Renee! Congrats on taking the big step! 19 weeks post op is a good place to be. You've gone through all the hard phases and now you're stabilizing. It is completely normal that the weight loss slows down. In fact, I was losing and gaining, and stalling during that period. Make sure you monitor your protein intake and drink enough water. I started to lose the most amount of hair at 4 months post op and it finally slowed down towards 10 months post op. However everyone is different and I also have hypothyroidism which also affects my hair growth... I'd love to learn more about your experience and how you're feeling. Have you found your new "normal" yet? Keep me posted xoxo
Good to see you again! I'm 8 months out from RNY in Guelph. Living close to Goderich Ontario and I'm down 80 pounds from 297. Winter is hard here in Ontario. I've got myself a treadmill (used) to try to keep active during the winter. Seeing your progress is very inspirational and motivating. You look great! LOVE your hair!
Hi Heather ! Congratulations on your progress. You're doing sooooo well ! I love to hear from my fellow Ontarians, you understand the weather struggles. Thank you for watching my videos and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. I hope you're feeling fine and that you continue to have success on your health journey. Keep in touch :)
So proud of you on your journey ❤❤❤ You are an amazing inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it !
Hi girl!! Looking amazing!! I love the haircut!!❤
Thank you so much!!! It's such a simple haircut that I just walk out of the shower and not have to worry about it. How are you doing? Any plans for this summer?
@@thistothatlife Looks really good!!! I’m doing well thank you! Struggling a little bit with the coffee because is lower my high blood pressure but i can quit and I don’t like decaf. I start taking a pill if my blood pressure is lower than 95 the high number. It is crazy!! This summer we are going to a cruise soon and also later on i want to go back home to Puerto Rico to visit my family and my niece and nephew. How are you doing? Do you have plans this summer with your beautiful family? By the way let me know if you don’t understand something my english is not the best one 🤣 Take care and have a good night!! 🌙❤️
Hello. I'm 3 weeks post op gastric bypass thank you for your informative and encouraging videos❤
Hi Michelle ! Congrats on taking the steps towards better health. You've made it through the difficult part. Now, at 3 weeks post op you're still getting used to your new stomach and what you can handle and what you can't. I wish you courage and patience as you traverse this phase. I promise you that it gets easier with time. Reach out if you have any questions. Let me know how you're feeling. Sending you lots of positivity :)
You said all the words perfectly!!! No shame, English is hard!!! I'm learning French and your English is wayyy better than my French, be kind on yourself ❤
Thanks Jenn, you're too kind. ❤ English is my preferred language but I struggle with the pronunciation of certain words, particularly words that have a Greek or French root as I tend to want to pronounce them in their original form. I hope all is well with you. Thanks for watching my video. Enjoy your weekend ❤
I love your video . Thankbyou
It's my pleasure Joanna. I hope they help :)
I am in week 3 of my liver shrinking preop diet. It's so very hard. Thanks for making this
Michelle ! ! ! ! It's the hardest part of the journey. Everything after is easier, I promise. Did you have the surgery yet? How are you?
On day 6 of my 2 week liquid diet. Allowed 4 shakes a day, 2 cups of broth, 1 cup of raw vegetables and water (allowed tea and coffee but I don’t like neither). It’s going good. I’m a little hungry, but not craving too much. I am very emotional. I have my gastric sleeve surgery April 18th. Kind of scared. Should I be ? lol
OMG you're done the ;liquid diet now. How are you? How are you feeling? I hope you heal quickly. Keep in touch :)
Thank you so much! I'm on a liver shrinkage diet. Surgery next week. You give me hope. Best of luck with your cookbook.
How are you Margaret. How are you feeling? I hope the surgery went well and that you heal quickly. Keep in touch :)
Thank you so much for the information. It is greatly helpful ❤
Glad it was helpful! 🙂 ❤️
Thanks Katherina for another great video. I appreciate all of your advice and telling us about your experience. I like what I am going to call your “Katherina-isms”…… “ it’s not a bad thing, it’s not a good thing…..it’s just a thing” ….. and also…. “Things change in your life and it’s OK.” We need not be so hard on ourselves….. just try to do better today than you did yesterday….it’s a journey. I am 14 weeks PO RNY and down 56 lbs…… one day at a time. 😊
❤ Hi Mary Renee 😊 Congratulations on being 14 weeks Post op. How do you feel? What's been something that surprised you about this surgery? I remember being very surprised at the fact that things went back to normal so quickly ✨ Thank you soooo much for watching and commenting. I always look forward to hearing about people's journeys. Wishing you all the best. Stay healthy and happy, always!
Thanks for your videos. I'm 20 days post op today. I've had my ups and downs, that's for sure. I'm at that weird phase where I can start trying normal food again, but I'm almost scared to. A few things I've tried haven't sat too well. So I'm relying a lot on yogurt, oatmeal and things like that.
That's exciting ! You're now able to eat "regular" food. You're probably going to be surprised that you're no longer craving foods you used to crave. Take your time reintroducing food. You might react a certain way this week and the next week will be different. I had a hard time with raw onions for a while and now I can eat them without issues. THANK YOU for watching my videos and for commenting. I appreciate your time. Wishing you lots of success on your journey. Stay in touch !
Congrats......ill be 1 year post op in June 2024
CONGRATS!!!! That one year mark is a BIG one. At one year, I hadn't met my goal weight and I was a little disappointed but then I remembered all the things I can do now, like play with my sons and wear clothes from "regular" shops and how I don't have Diabetes anymore and I forgot about my woes :) Keep in touch!
Sorryfor the spam....but i dont get to talk about this with anyone around here.....everyone i go out to eat with just eats normal and i have to pace myself now...but one beauty is i always have another meal for the next day....
I do understand why its triggering to some folks....i love certain foods but i dont wanna be sick from overeating
Buffets are hardest tho cuz i cant just eat and eat.....ive saved alot of money eating smaller portions
absolutely !!!! We save a lot of mine for sure! I use to eat out 2 to 3 times a day. Now I prefer eating at home and if I eat out, I will definitely have left overs.
I still eat alot of my guilty pleasures i just cut way down on portion size....i even eat icecream....but ive learned when to stop
That's perfect, you've been able to moderate yourself. That's a great skill to have.
Im almost a year out post op and i still cant eat white meat chicken
I get that. I am 15 months post op and there are some foods that still don't agree with me. It's part of the journey. Our bodies have changed and so have our taste buds. Chicken and Turkey are dry meats. Sometime doing a stew makes the meat easier to consume. You have to experiment and find at least 10 foods that you can eat and be happy with. I found that I love salads and soups now as well as pulled meat and beans. Those were foods I didn't like prior to the surgery so you have to keep experimenting to find what works for you. Sometimes the way that you cook something makes a bug difference. I find stews are easier to consume than just a hard piece of meat. Wishing you the best of luck :) Subscribe to my channel. I will soon be releasing videos with recipes so maybe that will help :)
I’m on day 3 of my preop diet. I work from home so it’s not hard so far but my cycle started the same time 😂 So I am actually retaining fluid like crazy am craving a nice steak. I was given the option of my own protein powders and shakes as long as they fit the parameters. I actually found a chicken soup powder that taste good warmed. So I’m not overwhelmed with sweet.
That's GREAT! Where are you now? Have you had the surgery yet??? If so, how are you feeling? Keep in touch, I'd love to hear your story. Wishing you all the best on your health journey, and THANK YOU! for watching my videos :)
The day you asked was surgery day. Feeling good now the main thing is to make sure that I am hydrated.
I have heard a lot saying that they have lost some height after the surgery but i didn’t get what is the relation🤔
I think it's because my feet got smaller. I don't really know exactly but I am shorter now LOL
I have heard a lot about losing some height but what is the relation between surgery and losing heights 🤔
I lost height and shoe size after having lost over 120lbs. I don't really think that the surgery is responsible. I think that I lost weight around my feet and head and that's why I am an inch shorter now :) I looked it up and apparently it's quite common to also lose a show size..... I donated most of my shoes. It gave me a good opportunity to go shopping :)
So inspiring 👏👏
Thank you :) I appreciate your comment. Have you had WLS also?
14 May 2024 is my date and I'm 66. Thanks for all your good advice.
CONGRATULATIONS on taking this step. It's not an easy journey. It's a lot of hard work, mentally and physically. However it is Definitely WORTH it. Wishing you lots of success in your journey. Keep in touch, I would love to hear how everything goes. Thank you for watching :)
I had my gastric bypass February 13, I am back at work and looking forward to my journey of better health! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
It's My pleasure :) Thank you for watching my videos. I hope they help you and give you hope. You're already 2 months in so the hardest part is over. Now it's all about getting your protein in and making sure you stay hydrated. I wish you lots of success on your journey. Subscribe to my channel to make sure you don't miss out on my next videos. I will start sharing some bariatric meal ideas :) Keep in touch!
Katherina I always look forward to your videos. I totally get the experience you had with the hammock. Twice recently my daughter has told me I’m not as large/ heavy as I think I am. She’s a photographer and I helped her at a father/daughter dance. She always does test shots and wanted me to sit on the bench she had set up. I was leary that it would hold my weight. She convinced me and no problem. It’s the everyday day things that mean the most. Also, I’m shocked you have 50 more to lose. In the pictures at the end, you look fabulous. As always, your sunshine and inspiration.
Thank you Valerie. I appreciate your comment, and I am so happy to hear that you're experiencing the day to day non scale victories that make this surgery worth while. I promise to upload more videos sometime soon. I am dealing with my mother's health issues right now and it's a little consuming, to say the least, but I will get back on track, soon. THANK YOU For your kind words and support xoxox
@@thistothatlife I completely understand being tied up with parental caregiving. All of last year was like that for me. Balance and self care are so very important to your physical and mental health. Sending good energy to you and your Mom.
Thank you! I am having surgery on March 19th! I am really excited to change! Congratulations on your weight loss success and health life ❤
Hello lovely :) I hope the surgery went well. Take your time to ease into this new lifestyle and remember to keep on sipping on water. Don't worry too much about getting in all your protein in the first few days. WATER is vital at first. The rest will come in time. I hope you heal quickly and that your health journey is successful. Keep in touch. I would love to hear how it went. xoxox
@@thistothatlife thank you so much my friend ❤️
I love hearing about your NSVs, not silly at all. I discovered that I can sit down and reach down to tie my shoes without having to pull my foot up! My balance is definitely better. At nearly 5 months post RNY I’m still trying to figure out my little stomach. Some days I can eat without any issues, and on other days even water doesn’t feel good! But everyday I’m grateful that I chose to have the surgery.
Hi Sara! 👋 I love to hear that you're grateful for the surgery and that you're able to do things that you couldn't before ❤ Thank you so much for watching my videos. Much love!
Hiyas, thank you for sharing, im 4 months post op, so im very interested to read whats to come, well done on your weight loss, take care, xx UK 🇬🇧
👋 Hello. I love seeing comments from across the pond. Welcome to my KZread channel. I hope my videos inspire you or at the very least ease your worries. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching ❤️ xox
