I always thought Frederica Von Stade sang THE best Song to the Moon.

Where is the rest of the footage from that Mahler 8th concert? I would love to see/hear the rest of it. Sweet is extraordinary.

I heard it twice in London and it was vivid and spectacular. I went a pre concert talk with Tippett where he talked about Star Trek amongst other things. The emi cd is awful boxy sound recorded live but very badly. This cassette is much more like it should be!

This is much better than the Andrew Davis recording on EMI/Warner. Someone asked why Colin Davis didn't record it, but I can't find the comment now. The reason is that Sir Colin wanted to record it but the record company, Philips, said no. Because of that Colin Davis didn't renew his record contract with Philips. Thanks so much for the upload!

A fine, stylish, well trained, musical singer. Lacking only the ultimate ping and glow on his top notes. Danise must’ve been a fine teacher.

You can tell real dramatic tenors/sopranos from the speaking voice. James King's speaking voice is big and fatherly and would sound like a baritone to an untrained ear.

He isn't the King of Opera as has rarely performed in opera...and is unlikely to ever do so again. He has made a boatload of money performing popera concerts using a mic and is only popular with people who don't know much about opera...but hey...he makes more money than even the top actual opera singers make...as popera is more lucretive and easier to do .
