    dear, I am modeling a marine slope with increased pore pressure in the abaqus using the Can-Clay model. I found the following error. " The sum of initial pressue and elastic tensile strength for the porous elastic material in element 1 instance ground1-1 must be positive." What was the solution you found to overcome the problem?     Mam, I am doing simulations concerning cables. Abacus only showing up to elasticity. But I want it for elasticity. Can you please provide any reference for that. I want to capture after elasticity points with the help of subroutine with 1d elements ( strain hardening, necking, and rupture).

    Hi Chathurika...The video is nice.... i have written a UMAT based on a FRP composite. But the abaqus software is returning output as problem in compilation. Can you pls help me in this regard?.... 2) Before writing the UMAT should we load the ABA_PARAM.INC file?.....so as to not face compilation errors...if yes how can we resolve it?...     Hi Mam, This is most informative video I have seen about UMAT. Thank You for this video. There one question: in XY data from ODB field output the position you have taken is unique nodal not integration point. What is the difference between the two? Thank You.

    Hi Ravindra! Thank you for the comment. An integration point is one of the nodal values within an element. For example an eight node C3D8R continuum element has eight integration points, one at each corner of the element. Element nodal and unique nodal positions both involve reporting results at the nodes of the model; however, reporting of unique nodal values produces only a single value at each node, whereas reporting of element nodal values produces one value for each element that has a contribution at that node. Only unique nodal values are provided in the case of node-based variables such as displacement. For element-based variables such as stress, extrapolation and averaging must be carried out to obtain unique nodal values. Therefore, I was intersted in one single node having displacement, U1 and U2 variable. That is why selected unique nodel. Hope that I answered your question. Thank you.

    Hi Mam, Your video is very useful. The mesh element size of your model is increasing towards right. Is there any specific reason for that? Can you upload a video on progressive damage in composite laminate if you are familiar with it?

    Hi Ravindra! By changing the mesh size of the rigid body, the geometry of your object changes. So, it is expected to affects the results. You should decrease your mesh size (especially in the sharp parts and critical loading regions) to achieve a more accurate results. Generally, in finite element modelling the meshing size increases when it aparts from the loading point. www.comsol.com/multiphysics/mesh-refinement#:~:text=As%20these%20elements%20are%20made,the%20model%2C%20and%20the%20results. This link provides more details on meshing. Sorry, I'm not femiliar with progressive damage in composite laminate. Thank you.
