The reason i’ve fully opened that phaser ring is because I will be using a much higher definition phaser effect using addressable high density LED strip on its side. Placing the individual LED’s in those 5mm openings so close to the surface of the strip may very well give you a low res effect with very visible individual light sources.
@sprueVerse13 сағат бұрын
Makes sense to me. I’m still analyzing my options. I think I will daisy chain the supplied addressable smd’s together and test them.

Clearly, Phil, your real estate negotiations with Mrs. S. have been moved to The Hague. And I wish you a lot of luck. Me--? I'm not in favor of working this large on anything. The last thing this size for me was my wife's car. I replaced the front end body and am still nursing various grudges. I did learn a valuable lesson: don't do that again. I am finding their FaceBook and web site pages remarkably empty of price structure for this thing. I may not seem terribly mercenary but when it comes to models-- especially a model big enough to motorize for personal transport-- I get mercenary. The one price I noted was 7,000 Euros for that 6" Ent E. A little math and I am getting $5Kilobucks total for this Ent D. Which is a big number, but not ridiculous, all things considered. Otherwise the site is modest enough considering the effort involved in all their projects. In fact, your one declaration of something wrong in that wonky bridge is utterly bewildering when the level of material science is so extraordinarily top-notch. I'll make a suggestion-- and I hope this doesn't arrive, through accident of time and space, too late-- but you might ask if there's a replacement insert available for that mushy bridge detail. It seems it was made to be popped out and replaced. The one thing they *don't* show on that website is the mold used to make those gigantic resin casting-- those windows alone are unnerving me. That would be fascinating. I also didn't catch a glimpse of what must a huge custom pressure chamber for that casting. Big enough for a turkey platter. Using a 1-inch pipe seems like overkill to me. I have minimalistic tendencies for any of my model mounts and I'd run that down to 1/2-inch. You edged up to the idea of housing the circuit board light/sound controller, out of the model and in the base. That makes sense to me for all sorts of reasons. Then, that smaller pipe might pose a tight fit for the entire suite of wiring from base to model. Then I might begrudge 3/4-inch... As for the LCARS "suggested" model base size-- well, they may have you there. Whatever your base turns out to be, it's gotta be sizeable. With all that being said, this is BIG modeling and I hail you for getting involved-- I hail Lou too (all this carrying on applies to him as well-- though let's see his bridge!) -- though can you imagine his mask set if the decals ran to 28 pages!!! It's going to be a fun ride.

Military modelers have been embracing “unusual” subjects like WWI armored cars the last few years which you didn’t used to be able to buy kits for. The tug is that kind of subject not for its age in context but because it’s kind of a background character among Star Trek space vehicles. For me it’s right up there with the Workbee in under appreciated Star Trek ships. I almost stopped watching when you changed the engine exhaust lighting but then I thought that there have to be different classes of tugs which may all have the same general conformation but different towing capacities just like in the real world of tugboats, so your choice is easily justified even if you didn’t think of that particular reason. That kit looks to be like a lot of resin kits that appear to actively resist being assembled. You have every right to celebrate defeating it. 😅

Hi Phil. I have another 'rookie' question on the lights. Regarding the motor spindles that turn the dome on the front of the nacelles, am I supposed to glue the dome and the spindle? I currently have all the lights running, but the interior dome is not rotating as it should. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this.
@sprueVerse8 күн бұрын
The spindle of the motor should friction fit to the inside dome that has the bars on it. Those bars are either painted by hand, photo etch or black vinyl. You don't glue those parts together. If you send me a quick video to [email protected] I can understand what is wrong. Cheers, Phil

Tip: Those fins to the rear are pretty good but you should try next time to use spacers. I stunned that they are loose! An invitation to an attack of nerves. You can guess spacing with something "found" and line up as many as you need-- with uneven ones to either side of center for symmetry. OR measure and stack styrene strip to the needed dimension. I use a caliper for accuracy. Either way works good! For garage decals I would recommend an overspray of Testors decal coat. Helps a lot and toughens them up. But, yes testing is a good thing. I am surprised that TimeSlip went with the Load Masters from some cargo plane that the model shop used back in the day. That giant crash helmet is not Federation issue. But the overall ship is nice.
