Watching this again for the third time. This guy should be mandatory viewing for all coaches and parents. What a hero.

Just wish I had millions would of never let this school Close. What a man to volunteer his time to impact kids with difficult circumstances. This man is a hero. And absolute hero. Money for this program should of been easy to find. What are we doing as a country.

He may have been a good coach but when he was my 8th grade phys-ed teacher at Emerson I had my arm broken by a bully practically twice my size in the locker room. He and Coach Horton lied and said they were in the locker room at the time when they were actually out in the gymnasium talking with the girls' phys ed teacher. Good coach, dishonorable man.

I was there when coach arrived at Roosevelt. I think it was 1967 or 1968. we had a terrible team and the old coaches were on the way out. Coach De Matteo had FIRE! He took me out on the field and drilled me. That was the first time I had actually learned anything about the game. I knew he was going to be a great coach.... nice to see him again in this interview....
