    I just finished my sophomore year in high school, and I'd like to know what courses I need to take in my next 2 years of highschool to succeed in this field. According to the site. It looks like you need biochemistry, calculus, anatomy, psychology, and physiology etc etc, but do I really need to do all of that in high school?

  • @RyanReflects
    @RyanReflects11 күн бұрын

    I would focus on courses that make you a well rounded individual and allow you to get into the college or university of your choice.

    only serve working weekends _for_ and _only for_ essential workforce, like emergency services, clerks, firefighters, cops, etc. there is no point non-essential jobs require working weekends, like designers

  • @RyanReflects

    A fair point. If everyone was off over the weekend, there would be no one there to serve in industries like hospitality and tourism.

    Hi Dr.Corte! Just want to ask that i am doing my 5 year optometry program from Pakistan and want to practice in US so do i have to study in optometry school for four years again or i can also jump through the optometry bridge program?

  • @RyanReflects
    @RyanReflects16 күн бұрын

    Possibly a bridge program but you’ll have to chat with the schools that offer this to confirm.

    Good afternoon! I've been watching several different videos from multiple content creators, which has sort of been growing my interest in the field. I've decided that I wanted to commit to the schooling and hopefully come out with my O.D. My predicament is that I'm currently enlisted in the ANG and I'm working 12 hour shifts on base (full time) in an area that disallows technology with cameras and wifi connectivity. From your experience thus far, do you think online schooling would be a good idea? I've looked into online schools with the course prerequisites I need for the optometry school I've chosen but am still trying to tell myself it will be worth going through with. Of course, there are still unspoken variables at play but as far as the time I have outside my job and less access to the sources I may need. In short, I guess my question is, comparatively to in person schooling for undergrad/graduate courses, would online schooling be worth the effort?

  • @RyanReflects
    @RyanReflects11 күн бұрын

    Online schooling for some of the pre requisites could make sense. However, you’ll need to have in person schooling that incorporates the necessary labs required for optometry school admissions

    It's not supposed to! You probably did it in your 20's and now your prescription stabilized. Your surgeon did not overcorrect you and you now think your LASIK faded. Which it did not. It cannot. Laser eye surgery is permanent. It is forever. I had my LASEK with Dr Chynn 12 years ago (in my 20's) and am still seeing better than 20/20.

    I've been told by my childhood eye doctor that I would be the perfect candidate for LASIK since my vision hasn't changed in years(this was a few years ago i think it has changed a bit tho but I am older so it's bound to happen), I came across your video doing research and I have to ask, do you think you only got your complications due to your dry eyes? I'm sorry that they ingored your issues and coaxed you into it anyway.

    Unfortunately the major employer in my town is going under and I am going to be forced to potentially move. Grrrr. I have moved for a job 3 times and have come "home" each time... that "should" tell me something, BUT, the older generations of my family are mostly gone, many friends and family have moved away, not sure what is anchoring me to this area anymore other than my house is paid off, hate of change and comfort of knowing my area. Each time I have moved to a new area it has been so exhilarating and fun, but needs of family keep drawing me back... maybe it is time I need to walk away and let them make it or not on there own...
