    Amazingly helpful video. Thank you!!! I do have to say I had trouble getting through the whole thing because your voice audio is a bit painful to listen to. Not sure what it is. Built in mic? Glad it helped! When I recorded the audio my interface merged the voice and the music whereas it should have been recorded separately so I could affect the volume of each independently. It was very annoying. I have then tried to do stem separation on the audio to get round this. It works for most of the video but I know some bits still sound odd. Recording these videos is a lot more complicated than you might imagine!

    I bought the H90 cause on paper it had everything I wanted but it's totally NOT fun to jam with. I find myself just using the same 3 factory presets and then using the software, but if I'm going to use the software I may as well just use a VST for a fraction of the price. It sucks that you needed to make an hour and a half long video where if this stupid thing just had a better user interface we wouldn't need all of this.

    Your videos have been super helpful man thanks. Question about using snapshots with external 3 button control foot switch. Do you know if I would be able to set hot switches (snapshots) to the 3 buttons on the external foot switch control, and still be able to access the snapshots without going into performance mode? I’d like to be able to stay in bank mode so I can easily switch to different programs or even programs on different banks relatively easily, while still accessing snapshots on the currently used program. While I know that I can assign the external controls to the snapshots, my question is, do I still have to be in performance mode for those switches to activate a snapshot? Or will they still activate the snapshot while in bank mode? I hope that question makes sense, and I appreciate any feedback you can give me. I would also be super interested in your take on efficient ways to utilize the external controls with a pedal and/or 3 button foot switch, or 2 pedals or two 3 button foot switches. And how these controls can be used in conjunction with midi, or in place of midi control, or leaning specifically into midi control and not using the external control options. I am interested in how these external controls can be used to unlock greater control over the unit. I have never really used midi before, so learning from experienced users is helpful. Thanks again. Cheers!

    Hi Do the different "snapshots" also include changes to different "insert" conditions? if so this would make things truly flexible with snap shot one which also that includes insert 1 (but in a "Bypassed" state then "snapshot #2 hot-switch includes insert 1 but now engaged "active" (on say preset one (or "A")...then snapshot "3 hot-switch then engages insert 1 (but active/engaged) and now affecting both presets A AND B (of original program) So what is happening is Each program has two presets and each of those presets parameters can be modified @30 different ways and also each program has two possible inserts with several possible locations and also each insert can be programmed to be engaged Or bypassed...and this is all handy when it finally comes to "snapshots" because each snapshot is a recipe of different presets, parameters, inserts (and their "active/bypassed states), then finally all the a-fore mentioned now to include "snapshot" hotswitch variations.............. IS that correct???

  • @JonKayeLearning

    Yeah sounds like a good idea but that's not how it currently works. The insert / routing can't be allocated to a HotSwitch snapshot. Once you have chosen a snapshot, you can mess with the routing but it can't be done automatically.

    I can't get a stereo sound from my headphones when I plug it in the output port of the h90. Is there a way to fix this?

  • @JonKayeLearning
    @JonKayeLearningАй бұрын

    No, this is not possible. If you only connect out of Output 1 the H90 automatically functions in mono, even if you were to use the stereo insert last in the chain. If you will not be combining two algorithms per program, the workaround is using Dual Routing Mode and spitting your signal before the H90. Feed one to Path 1 (mono) and the other to Path 2 (stereo). Use the same algorithm for both.

  • @Markuson3
    @Markuson3Ай бұрын

    You’ll need to output both left and right…so if the output is loud enouhmgh, use a L/R to balanced adapter with a female balanced (stereo) out. Or… Run L/R outs to another stereo pedal with a stereo hesdphone out, or a headphone amp.

I for example am In my twenties, part way through a degree in Cyber Security and just dont really know where to even start if I want to 'own' something or build the skills to put myself in a solid position later on in life, or I suppose even what kind of business I'd want to build. • @JonKayeLearning

    Good question! I am planning to do a video on just this topic. My short answer is to do two things. One quick. One a bit slower. First, read about business and starting a business. View this as an education just like your degree and starting learning. I would start by reading: The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco. Second, you should experience business. So you will need to get a job. Some people can start a business from their bedroom and drop out of university but they are the 0.001%. Learn how business works (the good and the bad) and keep learning how you would want to do it better and do it differently.

    Great video Jon and a great message and take-away at the end. It will take me some time to digest and reflect on this but you hit very important and key points. Do you think someone can get rich by taking their salary and putting it in stocks and bonds? So you have equity ownership that way. And what happens if you fail your business? I think most people are afraid to fail so they stay stuck at a job they hate to afford the bills. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. You are right that this video opens up more questions which I plan to cover in future videos. Most new businesses fail (for example) so why should you follow my advice and start one? Well, I think there are ways to improve your chances of success. I also totally agree with long term investing in equities in order to get an element of share ownership but I don’t think people go about this the right way - there are too many people on KZread giving out dodgy advice just to get views! I’ll keep putting out the videos hoping to address a lot of these concerns.

    Let's just count money. There are few types of fx you need. 1 Drive 2 Modulations 3 Delays 4 Reverbs and 5 (Maybe you don't need it) Harmonic fx. H90 Has ALL of them and more. We can erase drive from th list we all know why. So we have four types. Three of them we all need. There's a few brands who make multifx pedals with one type of fx. For example, Strymon. If you go this way you have to buy Mobius, Timeline and Bigsky. Each of them about $600. $1800 total (I don't count shipping and I take prices couple years after release). But how many of them you need at once? Mostly 2. So H90 has two. And it costs $900. Twice cheaper than a bunch of Strymon. And that is not all. There are some algorithms that has two fx in one in fact. For example TimeSpace (Delay+Reverb), Just simple delay and simple reverb, that is everything we often; or some of harmonic algorithms have delay in itself. And you can still add something more, any modulation or harmonizer, whatever, to second preset of the program. And this is still not all. H90 can do muuuuuch more FX than a Strymon "holy trinity", Strymon don't have none of harmonic fx and even if they does, Eventide do it BEST. They are still producing new algorithms that are free to update your H90. PolySynth is a game changer in some terms. Yes you can buy Merit Enzo, but then add +500$ to the first 1800$ and you have four pedals instead of one. And yes, there are something like TC Plethora. This is good if simple drive/mod/delay/reverb is enough for you. No need to say that all brands mentioned here are making HI-END STUNNING sound. So there are two ways. 1. Cheap. You buy Plethora or some cheap processor for all FX and 2. Relatively expensive - One H90 if you want super flexibility, fancy, modern, experimental sounds for AAAANY case, if you want to sound unusual an fantastic some times, not only excellent like everybody. The third way of buying dedicated pedals for each type of fx have gone IMHO. It still works but time goes and some really interesting products are appearing, why not to use them?

    Great video! Curious of how you calculated the $5M loss. Also, it sounds like you didn't make more money, but had more purpose and more flexibility on your schedule. Is that true? Being a business owner means you likely worked just as much or more than you would have at your job. Would you say the sense of self accomplishment and flexibility were the value diff? Or? Might seem obvious to ask but you didn't say you made more, or less.

  • @JonKayeLearning

    That’s a good question. It’s complicated and it slowed down the narrative so I cut it out of the final video. I had to give back some of the share ‘slivers’ that I owned at the time I left. Those shares went on to be worth £5m. The journey after that was still successful financially but you’re right that it was the driving purpose we had and the freedom it gave us that was the biggest win. I probably worked just as hard (sometimes) but had so much more choice as to when I worked hard and much more input into what I worked on so I rarely felt it was wasted time. Hope that helps.

    trying to find robust and winning backtest using python is the only thing I really like to do, so I am willing to give up on everything to achieve the goal of having multiple robuste strategies running on my trading account and then starting to show my performance to people in the hope of having them onboard, I have no clue about the hassle that I need to go trough to setup a fund, but I guess if the performance is good people will want to join, with that being said it's not easy to build a portofolio of good strategies (maybe someone know how but for me it's a reel pain to achieve this). you know Jon when I was younger, I had this bad habbit of quitting algotrading each time I fail, I quitted algo trading multiple times for months during the past few years, each time I quit I focus on something else like ecommerce or web development or ethical webhacking and each the same thing happen, I just come to the conclusion that everything else is draining for me and it's just not something I willing to do, unlike algo trading, when I am coding a strategy even if the strategy backtest suck I feel a sense of achievement because I atleast discovered something. I backtested hundreds of strategies the success rate is low but at sametime I gave up quickly when I fail but after quitting multiple times and comming back I can clearly see a pattern in my behavior : I will never quit.

    Well great questions. Here I am still trying to figure out what my purpose in this world is at 35! Hopefully this gives me some push.

    Well I'm not sure you ever find out your real purpose. Just keep doing what you feel is the right thing to do right now. Today.

    I've just spent 10 hours straight on front on my pc, trying to find another uncorelated strategy to one I already have ready to go live, I am trying to reduce drawdown of the first one trough a second one (still work in process), the sadness is massive at this point because I've spent 6 or 7 years trying to create a portofolio of winning strategies but still not there yet, I am building my skills slowly, hopefully someday I will start looking for investors like you, thanks for the encouragement.

    As someone who loves building or creating useful things when i feel like crap i try thinking of new things to build and it always makes me feel good especially when it comes out perfect! The process can be tedious but that's what pays off!

    Thanks Mr K, This is the goat of pedals IMHO, I knew this when I bought it, however I also know I was in for a ride and I didn't spot your Vid Comp until I broke the seal and made my own attempts at releasing the trickery of this unit, for the english speaking of use your video is a unparalleled pairing to actually move from tinging fool to Expert. I can't image the painstaking time you spend to break down this unit, but I really am glad you did and for me this is the easiest like and subscribe for this alone. I can now affirmed this unit will be part of my setup for a longtime with the endless possibilities. Again thank you 🙂 one comment if I may, for those thinking to buy this unit, the pain barrier is high, but as the saying goes no pain no gain excuse the pun 😉

    Hello. I've learnt in life that I'm responsible for my own happiness. I'm in my sixties, and yes i am in my comfort zone . We all look for pleasure in things. Interesting listening to your experiences.

    Thanks for watching! Good to hear you’re in your comfort zone. I don’t think we should be constantly pushing ourselves. Life ebbs and flows. I just think that taking the hard road is often the best route to happiness even though it doesn’t feel like it as the time.
