    Very thoughtful. Feeling inspired at 55. My husband has always let me know he likes me in dresses, but I feel less comfortable in them. My mil is a lovely example of femininity and I love this about her. Your explanation of the "whys" to consider it really has me thinking differently

    I have been looking for an historically accurate book about the history of South Africa and when I saw you mention Bulala I ordered it right away. I got my copy today and cannot put it down. How incredibly eye opening. Thank you so much for the recommendation! I cannot wait for my kids to read it because I’ve been so ashamed for being an “Afrikaner” and a “Botha” for far too long after moving to a America with the liberal influence, that not even subtly, has made me out to be a racist colonizer. Well no longer. God started me on a journey a while back to study my heritage. This is a great tool for my road ahead.

    Every woman needs to understand that from a man’s perspective, he is the captain of his ship that is sailing the seas of life. He invites a woman to join him on his journey as his primary helper, to help him in the cabin (house), the crew (children) and general navigation. He invites her onboard so together they can have a better journey than being alone, so he can travel farther, and eventually leave a trail of other similar captains with their ships who can sail on without them. No man who wants a wife-for-life invites her onboard so he can dedicate his life to making her feel happy. He does not invite her onboard because he needs more drama - the normal storms of life are drama enough. No man in his right mind invites a woman onboard to abscond with half of the cargo of his ship, to lead a mutiny, or run off with his crew at the next port. This is the general idea of what is automatically in the mind of a man who seeks a life-time commitment to marriage. Sadly, most modern women think that they have their own ship to sail, and this leads to shipwrecks.

  • @kevingeorge1095
    @kevingeorge109515 сағат бұрын

    @@homewithkelli Sure. No credit is needed. There is a sad story behind it though. I'm a father of 9. First a widower, left with 2 little boys. Then remarried and 7 more kids. My second wife became bitter about being a second wife. She told me directly that I was supposed to MAKE her happy. Nothing I could do would convince her of my love. Her bitterness led to her wanting me to kill her (so she would not kill herself). That went on for over a year, with her begging and even shaming me to do it. (All the while, posting Bible verses and portraying herself as a great Christian example.) Finally, she recently started saying that since I would not do it, then I should go to my first wife - meaning, kill myself. Since she refused all help from family, pastors, professionals and friends, I finally decided I had no choice but to ask for a divorce and a restraining order to keep her from doing something crazy to me or the kids (5 are still at home, ages 7-17). A couple months ago in an attempt to help her with her wrong thinking I thought of this ship analogy and drew it as a diagram (a ship and stick figures). I explained it to her with others present. She was highly offended, and it really bothered a daughter-in-law also. I was half-shocked. This was just basic knowledge decades ago. Sadly, the pervasive influence of feminism has so warped the minds of women, even Christian women, that they would rather wreck their families and build another man's business than to build their own man. They are incredibly proud of their accomplishments - other women (but not many men) give them lots of assurance, making them very bold. I fear for my young sons being able to find real wives. (Two of my married son's wives unmasked themselves shortly after marrying - going from sweet gentle ladies to being either boss bitxxxs or emotional childishness.) I am trying to feed my daughters content like yours. I'm not sure how much they get it since they see no living examples. It may seem like me being self-serving and manipulative, but time will prove me right. Thank you for your content. I am glad to notice that many women (and men) are starting to wake up and push back.

Not trying to be rude or anything just saying. 😊

    What a great video! My husband and I found it much easier to be neighborly when we lived in the suburbs but now that we live in the mountains, it’s much harder. Most properties are large and fenced in with large (sometimes scary), dogs. So unless a neighbor ventures out to the road or fence, it’s really really hard to make contact; very hard to get to know people. I also am afraid to go onto properties with dogs - otherwise I’d bring cookies! I need to pray about what I can do, where I live :).

    I've taught both of my daughters this life lesson that I have learned. People in this country tend to be so self-absorbed that they are NEVER thinking about you, they are most likely focused on themselves. And if YOU are worrying about what THEY are saying/thinking about YOU, then you are guilty of the same behavior - self absorption. Sad, but true. My husband has a saying; "it is none of my business what you think about me". I pretty much only wear dresses & have done so off & on over the years. I prefer dresses/skirts & can accomplish everything (gardening, farming, housework, etc) with them on. Unfortunately, even though my husband tolerates me wearing dresses, he prefers me in jeans. I just don't find pants physically comfortable anymore. I have had 2 c-sections & can't stand anything constricting me around the middle. I just feel more free & ladylike in a dress.

    Kelli! You just walk up the drive and "Hello The House" Its an old colonial tradition that our region still carries on. We walk up the drive & give a lusty, hearty "HELLO". We have tons of new neighbors. We just show up, holler 'Hello", whether they like it or not. LOL YOU have to make the effort, not wait for others. We have made some of the best, new friends this way. People we have come to totally depend on, & they depend on us. Nothing is private where we live - we are all plunked in the middle of pastures, no fences, no 'backyards', still have front porches, and we all walk back & forth into each others' backyards by going 'cross lots'. We don't take the road most of the time. I am realizing that it is a pretty unusual culture, after our discussion at our women's group. Where I live, rural CNY, the tea & coffee thing is VERY popular. I am up & down the road all week long - people popping in to my house for coffee (everyone claims we make the BEST coffee & we keep a pot on all the time) or me popping in to their homes to have coffee/drop things off/borrow things etc... I have the opposite problem with neighborliness. I sometimes have TOO MUCH of it going on & it is very hard to get work done. We are also in the unique position of being related to almost every household on the road; both my husband's side & mine as we grew up 5 houses away from each other! We definitely look out for each other. Our power was out for 3 days recently. I have a generator & could live like usual. I had my next door neighbor's food at my house, she cooked her dinner in my kitchen, my BIL was responsible for keeping my generator running while I cooked their family dinner, among other help. It was like a super highway; food, coolers, buckets of water & diesel running up and down our street for 3 days! LOL We worry about our 'street' before worrying about anyone else, town, state, out of state friends, charities, etc...We are hyper focused on our actual neighbors. Our women's group has been discussing neighborliness & our Christian responsibility to others. There was very thought provoking discussion. Proverbs 3:28 "Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back tomorrow and I'll give it to you"- when you already have it with you." this is what my husband & I have been working on. This WILL definitely inconvenience you! In order to follow Christ we MUST be/deal with the inconvenience. It is not about the 'good times' hanging out, having coffee with neighbors. It is about fulfilling others' needs thru your own sacrifices. It teaches you to 'die to self'. Take the Good Samaritan story for instance. totally inconvenienced, but did what was needed for his fellow man anyway.

    I have been meaning to ask you, what is your color pallet? I am thinking maybe a soft autumn, but just curious! I’ve been trying to figure out what season I am myself! Also, I have been struggling to find dresses that fit me properly since I’m 5’1, has anyone had any success with finding dresses that fit smaller/shorter women? So far the only place I can fit in is Old Navy when I buy from their petites, which I don’t mind when they have sales, but I’m hoping I can find petite dresses at some local thrift stores!

  • @user-rf1zf5jb9c

    Any time that I find linen clothing at thrift stores I buy them. I will use them in some way. Right now I am making a patchwork skirt from all linen clothing that I have thrifted. I made a full slip from one of the really thin linen dresses that I got, but it was see-threw, so I cut the sleeves and the neck off and sewed it up to fit tighter and now I use it as a slip. I have quite a few linen dresses that I feel are see threw even though my husband seems to think they are not, but I still feel more comfortable with the slip on. Also, I have found that I personally like skirts better and am much more comfortable wearing them. I recently found a full length linen skirt at a thrift store and I really love it. It is a little big on me, but I use a safety pin to tighten it up. I will probably sew it before I wear it again. I have not found any dresses that do not have sleeves on them. I may take the sleeves off of one of mine, so that I can wear a top over it. Now, that I have started sewing and really looking at clothing, I have found that it is so easy to fix the things that I don't care for with the clothing that I do have. I really like the dresses and the different ways that you show that you can wear them. Showing these gives me a lot of ideas about my own wardrobe. Thanks for sharing.

I’m about to tackle sewing liteweigh 100% crisp cotton sleeveless nightgowns. I bought three of the same at Kohls a few years and they have just about had it. A little intimidated but going to give it a whirl. If it turns out okay I may tack skirts next. Thanks for sharing!!!

    I love long flowy dresses, in fact I’m uncomfortable in short dresses. I’m 5’4 so I always pray I can find petites but it’s never easy to find them. Yes the low cut dresses are issues as well. I’m using small safety pins right now. I am a pocket girl also! I can’t stand it if I end up without pockets. Also I have a dress that’s meant to be off the shoulder. I found a tank that matches it. The tank gives it something to grip on so it stays up on my shoulders. I didn’t think of wearing shirts over a dress, thanks for the tip! And can we talk about slits in dresses and skirts? They come up so high! I can handle them better in them in the fall and winter when I can wear leggings or tights under. Thank you for showing us your wardrobe and how you wear them! 🩷

    Love this concept - and I love that you acknowledge that this is not a concept of 'modesty' or 'you can only be feminine in dresses' - it is simply 'I want to wear more dresses, because it makes me feel good'. ☺ It is actually interesting that the simple act of putting on a dress can cause people to judge you. (not everyone of course, but a decent amount of people) And it is a good example of how society seems to view femininity as something weak and less worthy of respect. (I am not a feminist, just a disclaimer) The "who do you think you are" is too real. I think in many ways that women are being 'cut off' from their femininity, and encouraged to be less feminine to be taken seriously. Not necessarily out of evil or hatred, but because it is seen as something inferior. I always wanted to wear more dresses, but working in economics, I am worried about how people would react. I don't have costumer contact, or a dress code, but they are only used to seeing me in dresses/skirts in summer if it is very warm weather. But as soon as fall/winter sets in, people would look at me strangely. I also believe Denmark is currently in the dark ages of fashion, where everything is black, ridiculously skimpy or in a masculine style. So I currently would not be able to wear dresses every day. I am considering doing my own 'ode to Mean Girls' and wear a dress every Wednesday (though not in pink). 😅 And every weekend, so I get more used to being in a dress, learn how to style them better, but without co-workers catching on too much, at the start at least. Then I can start sneaking in dresses more and more over the week. 🤫

Dave Ramsey basically says the same thing every podcast, yet it continues to encourage many. The popular culture is constantly pushing degenerate values through media (ESPECIALLY on young people), so I will continue to share and give testimony to a different way of living.
