    I don't think that even meets the minimum requirement for being called an odatchi it is more of an okatana. Being just a few inches long, then an average longer length of a katana of the period.

  • @rvakatana
    @rvakatana19 сағат бұрын

    @@Joe___R it's 88cm long, technically 2cm short of an odachi, but Tanobe-sensei, one of the most respected sword experts evaluated it as a nodachi

    This is a decent debate due to the fact that you can argue that its not a 400 year old sword but only a 400 year old blade. Its like me taking a barrel off of a 400 year old musket and slapping it on a M4 lower. I can also argue that any blade thats made out of iron is a few million years old with that type of argument, too. Its all about symabtics when you come into this and being as direct and thorough when describing it.

    A lot of people are assuming that a sword shop owner WOULDN'T tell the customers about not touching the blades upon renting one out. That just makes absolutely no sense and dude shouldn't even be a shop owner to begin with if he doesn't have signs and warns everyone interested about what to do and what NOT to do with a real blade. Jfc.

    Not only someone actually made a sword out of a metor, but that someone made it as a refrence to a metor-made sword from a beloved animated childhood tv series. I do not care how much that sword costs I really need it in my life and to praise the genius behind it.

    I always thought that the Tachi blade down display looked like a Tori gate. Considering some of the superstitions surrounding swords in Japan I just assumed it was mirroring the symbolism of the gates
