I'm planning a trip for this November. My flight will go to SDQ, so I was thinking of staying at Hotel Maison Gauteaux for 3 nights then head to Whala Bavaro for another 3 nights then back to SDQ for a flight home. Any advice?
It's the perfect itinerary except the stay at Hotel Maison Gautreaux, I would not recommend it to you as a I am assuming female traveling solo. It's really budget friendly ($30) a night but it may be a bit too rough and tumble for your liking. Are you going to Whala Bavaro or Whala Boca Chica? I can tell you how to get to Whala Bavaro without paying $150 for a taxi
OK, where is a good stay in Santo Domingo then? I want to be close to the Colonial Zone and where I can do several activities. I was thinking Whala Bavaro because I want to go to Punta Cana. I'm really just looking for an affordable all-inclusive stay in Punta Cana.

Whala Bavaro is like 3 1/2 hours away from SDQ and Whala Boca Chica is 15 minutes. I can tell you how to get to Whala Bavaro from your hotel in Santo Domingo via a clean air-conditioned bus for under $10. It's a charter bus for locals and tourists. When you get to the airport you can connect to the airport WIFI and call an Uber. You have to go to the top floor of the airport. There is an escalator in the arrival lounge which will take you there, it's easy to find as it's a small airport.
Oh.. .and before I forget you can get around via Uber, it's super cheap. Avoid taxis!! This hotel is close to everything, Uber and walking distance. You can walk to the Zona Colonial from there 10 minutes. And you can walk to the Malecon...1 minute

I am really reluctant these days to post certain destinations aka hidden gems because there is a portion of the new wave of travelers who go and ruin these places. I have nothing against guys traveling and enjoying themselves but the boorish over the top behavior is what has made Colombia super dangerous, ruined Sosua and it looks like Thailand is going that same route as well. I just do my thing, live my life and try to stay as safe as I possibly can. And helping guys along the way who ask for help or tips. At the end of the day,I want to see everyone have a good time but be sensible about it and not return home in a body bag.

No extra charge for the guest. However, you have to book the room for two before you arrive. I have a short video (videos that are 1 minute or less) on the channel in the shorts video section of my channel where I recorded my guest being checked in at no extra charge, she only had to show her identification. Watch that video if you can.
