    But now, except for fire and partial spray fireworks, other fireworks effects use flash powder, whistle fuel and so on

    I never had the desire to open up a shell because I value each one for my demos. But since you did, it saved me from having to do it. That clay / concrete/ composite bit is why I’m glad that I moved my shoot site farther away from cars this season. I know that one hit my neighbors windshield on my New Year’s shoot. He made me clean it off and I was embarrassed. One may have cracked another windshield as well on a different shoot.

    had a lot of problems,we tried to take out the street light.i was in a rush to set up.a couple of my talon clips didn't work,neither did some of my taping.but had some good stuff and I think next time I will keep ot simple.but all and all the 76 shot all went the salute were loud and it looks like everything that we made that got out went off and looked pretty good.well new years I can do better.still got stuff left.

    I screen mine through a screen and then sift for grain size and mill for 3 hours a kilo at a time I seen no difference in power from 4 hour mill to 12 a good mill don't take all day

  • @zerocool6698
    @zerocool6698Ай бұрын

    I will have to agree with you on that,it is all about your mill,and how long it takes to max out your bp.a good mill 3 to 4 hours should be plenty.how ever if your mill isn't up to par it could take someone longer.

    Since neither charcoal nor sulfur are soluble in a polar solvent like water, why do you continue to mix this?

  • @zerocool6698

    that's just the way the directions I had said to do,this was my first time doing it,and it came out just fine,I was I bit nervous about adding water to the nitrate and discovering it,iam sure if I were to continue doing bp this way, I would master this technique down and it would come out better.i got my new belt on the ball mill and that seams to work for me,dump it and run it,takes long but it comes out just fine for fireworks

    Wait til you puck it under a 12ton press and hand coffee grind to sift into sizes. I lightly wet with 70% iso. That will be fast! I use 2grams dextrin for my 1/2lb recipe and 28bhn hardcast .490 balls, fishing weights are usually pure soft and will contaminate the powder more. Im starting to use brass bearings. The carbon source makes a big difference, try cottonelle toilet paper or hemp raw bast fiber.

    Your screen is very coarse. I've found that a piece of wire window screen is actually closer to the 16 mesh nominal size for 2F powder with 20 mesh being about right for 3F powder. There are Screen Size Charts available online if you do a little searching.

  • @zerocool6698
    @zerocool66983 ай бұрын

    thanks for the info,do you think if I used a different size screen,it would make it any better?I do have plans on buying some real screens,this is just something I had around.

    Brass or Zinc are better than Lead ,Lead weights wear down and Contaminate the Powder Glass is able to make Sparks as are Bolts and Nuts. If you use too much balls it slows the Tumbling down a Lot. I only need about 12Hours. Dextrin slows down your powder it's really only good for Hardening the Granules if you don't Puck the Powder with a Hydraulic Press or Jack. If you want to shoot your Powder in Revolvers the Pucks are a Much Much better way to go otherwise just use the 3% to 5% Dextrin Screened Powder for Rifles and Shotguns. My first 3 batches made Mediocre 12 Ga. Shells but Lousy results in both my Revolvers, now I Puck, Grind and Sift to 2F or 3F size and it's almost as good as the "Goex made for Graf and Sons) Powder I bought right before they had the Fire a couple of years ago.
