I was gonna service my ranger and change trans oil on the weekend but ran out of time. It’s done 150k, the next day blew the torque converter and she spilled oil all up the highway!!! Getting my mechanic to put in one of your upgraded torque converters and an oil cooler. Thank you for what you guys do helping us Aussie battlers out!!

243k my18 ltz so far never had this issue. I get mine fluid serviced every 50k. I drive it hard.. like it's stolen... towing up to 1.5 tonne.... fully loaded with tools. But why is this issue only with some and not all 6l50 transmissions. Or did they do a fix on later models?

I took my 2014 Expedition to a "complete" car care center. I was told that my SUV had a sealed transmission and they could not change the fluid and filter on it. It is a 6R80 so I did it myself no problem. Some of these auto "service" centers don't even know what they are talking about.🙄

Hi. I have a 99 gu tb45 with re4. Ive got stock 3.9 diffs running 33s tyres, i can feel converter slip under hard acceleration between 1st and 2nd. It also has an m90 supercharger running 4 psi. Will the lockup kit fix my issue? Thanks.

Great video mate After fitting should the servicing dealer be notified of a cooler being installed so that they can add the additional 2L of fluid or do they add like you did until it comes out the check plug?

Geezus how did they design these transmissions so badly. Do they die like this at high mileage or while towing? Or do they just grenade themselves for no reason?

Only two minutes in and the broad says if one prefers an automatic, they are automatically accused of not being able to drive. I have 1.5 Million miles with manuals in trucks, semi-trucks, cars, motorcycles, dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, etc. Automatics are superior in almost every type of vehicle. They are faster on the track, so fast that manuals have to have their own drag race classes so they can win. They are slottered by the automatics. Yes, automatics in drag cars with 4000hp. Look up Rossler. Yes, manuals are fun to drive. So are automatics with paddle shifters, or positive shift valve bodies. For offroad, choose the one that finds the most traction.... the automatic hands down. With two caveats, the driver must know how to drive with two feet, and the automatic must have a lot of external cooling.

Great video, it all makes sense. GM saved a few pennies here, and now we have to deal with it, usually out of warranty. Likely exacerbating the shudder issue - soft/slippy transmission programming and of course the lack of an external transmission cooler. It is stupid that the 2.8 diesel has an integrated in the radiator cooler while the V6 gets a big boy pants external cooler. They got it backwards, as usual 😆 I have a '17 Canyon with the 2.8, GDE engine and transmission tuned it at 10K miles and changed the OEM fill at 40K miles in favor of full synthetic. So far so fine, it sure shifts firmer and better after tuning the transmission's calibrations. I wager the tune + the hardware updates covered in the video would be awesome together. Wish you were in America as it is hard to find this kind of in depth knowledge here. As a nation I think we have gotten substantially dumber over the last 20 years or so in general, and too many repair shops and especially dealers are populated by code readers and parts swappers. Few holistically understand how systems work anymore...

I just installed mine yesterday 20 2019 ranger with65K on clock, what a massive difference, i have already fitted the bypass valve few years back, and my trans ran from 94-97 degrees, yesterday the ambient temp was 19 degrees, and now the trans oil only got to 55 degrees after driving for 30 minutes, i suspect in summer it would probable go 20-25 degrees hotter which would put it at 75-80 degrees is my guess, never the less very happy with the result, :)
