I was gonna service my ranger and change trans oil on the weekend but ran out of time. It’s done 150k, the next day blew the torque converter and she spilled oil all up the highway!!! Getting my mechanic to put in one of your upgraded torque converters and an oil cooler. Thank you for what you guys do helping us Aussie battlers out!!
Super!!! Thank you so much 👍
243k my18 ltz so far never had this issue. I get mine fluid serviced every 50k. I drive it hard.. like it's stolen... towing up to 1.5 tonne.... fully loaded with tools. But why is this issue only with some and not all 6l50 transmissions. Or did they do a fix on later models?
I took my 2014 Expedition to a "complete" car care center. I was told that my SUV had a sealed transmission and they could not change the fluid and filter on it. It is a 6R80 so I did it myself no problem. Some of these auto "service" centers don't even know what they are talking about.🙄
Hi. I have a 99 gu tb45 with re4. Ive got stock 3.9 diffs running 33s tyres, i can feel converter slip under hard acceleration between 1st and 2nd. It also has an m90 supercharger running 4 psi. Will the lockup kit fix my issue? Thanks.
Gday Stu , I have a 98 holden suburban 5.7 ltr L31 auto which are legendary for cooking auto transmissions . Will a lockup kit fix this and if so do you have a kit . All the best mate .
Great video mate After fitting should the servicing dealer be notified of a cooler being installed so that they can add the additional 2L of fluid or do they add like you did until it comes out the check plug?
I really appreciate the advice. I’m curious about the price range
Hi, what's the general cost of getting this fiasco done if you happen to be out of warranty??
tell us the price son !!🙂
roughly how much would it cost to repair this for good. not sure if i should sell my collie, it had a TQ converter done by holden at 80,000km and not with 110,000 on the clock im starting to get worried its going to happen again .
Need this for the GX460, however it's not available for shipping to the US 😢
What's it cost to do that, and where?
This bloke reminds me of bubbles off Trailer Park Boys.
Geezus how did they design these transmissions so badly. Do they die like this at high mileage or while towing? Or do they just grenade themselves for no reason?
Absolute brilliant boys.
Hi is the transmission cooler kit the same for MR Triton and QE Pajero Sport thanks
Hi is the MR Triton kit the same for Pajero Sport QE
Hi Guys, I have a 2016 3.2 diesel ranger. Auto Transmission is fine. Are these a problem say compared to Hilux. Just so I know what to buy next time. Thanks
What a stupid fuc#ing idea having no drain plug. Fill for life my arse.
What problems was this trans having with the old valve body ?
Great video ! Have use developed this for the 2023 4jj3 Dmax yet ?
Only two minutes in and the broad says if one prefers an automatic, they are automatically accused of not being able to drive. I have 1.5 Million miles with manuals in trucks, semi-trucks, cars, motorcycles, dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, etc. Automatics are superior in almost every type of vehicle. They are faster on the track, so fast that manuals have to have their own drag race classes so they can win. They are slottered by the automatics. Yes, automatics in drag cars with 4000hp. Look up Rossler. Yes, manuals are fun to drive. So are automatics with paddle shifters, or positive shift valve bodies. For offroad, choose the one that finds the most traction.... the automatic hands down. With two caveats, the driver must know how to drive with two feet, and the automatic must have a lot of external cooling.
Great video. I have tackled everything except an auto trans so I learnt heaps watching this. Keep them coming. Thanks.
Great video, it all makes sense. GM saved a few pennies here, and now we have to deal with it, usually out of warranty. Likely exacerbating the shudder issue - soft/slippy transmission programming and of course the lack of an external transmission cooler. It is stupid that the 2.8 diesel has an integrated in the radiator cooler while the V6 gets a big boy pants external cooler. They got it backwards, as usual 😆 I have a '17 Canyon with the 2.8, GDE engine and transmission tuned it at 10K miles and changed the OEM fill at 40K miles in favor of full synthetic. So far so fine, it sure shifts firmer and better after tuning the transmission's calibrations. I wager the tune + the hardware updates covered in the video would be awesome together. Wish you were in America as it is hard to find this kind of in depth knowledge here. As a nation I think we have gotten substantially dumber over the last 20 years or so in general, and too many repair shops and especially dealers are populated by code readers and parts swappers. Few holistically understand how systems work anymore...
Thanks for the video it was very interesting. I tow a caravan with a LC200 and on a hot day the TC and pan temperatures can get up to 110-115c when going up hills, at what temperature would you be concerned?
What an awesome video.. great information !!! nice work .
I've seached so long for this video, Thanks.
Now i have a better understanding of my auto gearbox .Thailand Thank you both.
Hey guys I appreciate the information. This video is fantastic 🎉 I was wondering if it is better to bypass the radiator completely and have the cooler independent, running directly to and fro the transmission? What do yall think?
Do you guys have these for Y62 patrols as I think mine is on its way out.
Does adding a thermo fan to aftermarket cooler worth it?
can i install for ford territory 1.5L?
Did ford already addressed this? Is it okay to buy the 2024 ranger wt or still no?
Would on oil cooler be fine on my ford ranger px 1 ?
What a beautiful education you just gave me, thankyou sir
Got to love Aussies, just a nod, yeah nah, we do them also, no pretend BS
you have to take off the front of the car?????
Currently going through an issue now with my NP300, apparently got water in my trans mission, torque converter and diffs need to replace it all 😢
A great video. Thank you. Do I need to check with the manufacturer as to whether such a cooler will affect the warranty. Do you have a recommended installer in Canberra? Thanks
What about a 2019 Ranger Biturbo 10spd thats had a brand new box fitted under warranty from Ford, and still has upshifting issues, and erratic drive ? Are you saying you can fix a brand new box with 300kms on it?
i have a 2017 Everest just fitted radiator coolers to gear box, my first trip only got me 50 km pulling caravan 2.5 tonne on flat road and the drive lights went of 4 wheel drive light went of and had no trick tonic gears then the spanner came on the dash with in 10 km more then stopped at the lights and went to go and it crawled to the kerb i switched it of and that was it would not re start and no dash at all had it toed to mechanic. The mechanic advised me you cooked had it toed home what's your thoughts thank you.
Roam Life bought me to this video. Very interesting build on his GU, and this is also very informative content. Much appreciated guys!
Great, informative video! Does the 200 series have a thermostat in the transmission cooling system? Cheers!
Hi, great video, I'm about to buy a used colorado, in your opinion should I buy a manual transmission? Do the manual transmissions give any trouble. I'm in New Zealand. Cheers Ian
Thanks guys how funny my MY18 Colorado is bringing looked at tomorrow by someone i won't say but on the Northern Beachers Sydney haha for the same problem only done 77 thousand great video
OK so I get this straight. I can use this lockup on the highway, downhill and manual shifting for engine braking but not everyday driving.
The Nomad Lock-Up kit can be run both ways and is normally programmed to run all the time with the exception of when you manually override for extra engine braking.
@@WholesaleAutomatics Thanks so I can use it for normal city driving ? All the time? I thought it was only for towing. I have a US spec 200 Series.
3 transmissions on my 2001 Dodge diesel truck burnt up before 2nd transmission shop found oil cooler was plugged up. Hopefully the 4th transmission lasts longer with the new oil cooler installed.
Amazing Job! Would this conversion be applicable to an ex-army 1991 Land Rover 110 Perentie 6x6?
Yes it can be done as long as it also has the 4BD1T engine.
@@WholesaleAutomatics Very good. Roughly, what kind of money are we speaking for a supply and fit?
I just installed mine yesterday 20 2019 ranger with65K on clock, what a massive difference, i have already fitted the bypass valve few years back, and my trans ran from 94-97 degrees, yesterday the ambient temp was 19 degrees, and now the trans oil only got to 55 degrees after driving for 30 minutes, i suspect in summer it would probable go 20-25 degrees hotter which would put it at 75-80 degrees is my guess, never the less very happy with the result, :)
