    This is far from my normal youtube content but im having a jolly good time imagining what the process was like to figure out the mathematical equation of horse. What kinds of studies exist for this? There's so much I don't know!

    I have had great success with effective microorganisms to prevent ammonia fumes from forming alltogether. The microorganisms munch away on the odor inducing substances and no smell whatsoever. I spray it on the clean floor and over the bedding and mix it in. Meanwhile there's even bedding with built in microorganisms on the market.

    Any tips for horses transition from shod to unshod?

  • @Leslie-es5ij
    @Leslie-es5ij26 күн бұрын

    Keep them nicely trimmed, and give them a chance to get used to being bare foot, minimize road, and hard rock work ! There's nothing wrong with bare foot horses that a little caution won't take care of.

    Plus, use some treatment for the soles, to make them harder/more resistant, so they don't become too thin from the direct contact with the terrain (Keralit for example), maybe even ask your farrier to not cut away too much from the soles when trimming. A food supplement for better hoof quality could also help, but has to be balanced with the rest of their feed rations obviously. If, in addition to the shoes, some kind of wedges or something was used to alter the knee action or something (which I don't recommend anyway), than never transition from wedges to nothing in one step. The tendons need to adapt SLOWLY! I have seen horses unable to walk at all because their wedges had been removed in one go. 😢

    Yes, yuuuck. TY for talking about this. Why haven't we in modern times TAUGHT horses to be toilet trained? The constant disregard for public peeing and pooing is a social & health problem everywhere they're still used. 19thC streets before cars were awash like that on streets with horse-drawn carriages. (The middle ages were awash with the human version!)

    Thank you so much. My mare has Cushing's and anhidrosis. I need to clip her to keep her cooler. Never done it. How long does it usually take? I am guessing 3-4 hours for a beginner? Also, if there is a groomer in the area, what is the general cost of a full clip? Waiting to hear from you in the Texas Hill Country...

  • @Proequinegrooms

    DIet! Ask your vet about a hoof supplement, and you can try products like durasole. Often pads under shoes are great too, to prevent pain and bruising or hoof boots if barefoot.

I truly wish I could link every single thing from every single video, but there is not enough time in the day for me to do that! If you want to shop direct from Wahl, you can go to www.wahlpro.com/animal/equine and use code LIV15 for a discount. I'm also happy to answer any questions about the products I use. Thanks!

    Rice bran is good, but you need to balance out the rest of the diet with the bran. Also there are high calorie supplements for this specific issue, and you could also add some legume hay for calories.

    @@Petersonzk I used a horse measuring tape for weight and height. You can do the math like I did or see what the weight tape says. It's most important that if you track weight, you do it the same way each time to look for trends.
