I was pleased Ron Atkinson made sure Manchester united were mostly just a cup team with no chance of significant trophy success in the 1980’s, nothing wrong with united being rubbish 😃✌️❤️🇬🇧

The constant use of the n word renders the programme close to being a parody on what is a serious subject Ron is playing dodge to an extent on what he said rather than owning it. You cant un say the n word. It paints him in a terrible life. I think Ron was an excellent manager winning trophies with three different clubs. He has however blotted his copybook badly with his outburst.

He keeps on claiming to over apologise yet he hasn't apologised to the person he directly abused. I think the answer to the question in the title of this doc is yes

This is a classic case of the old generation v the modern generation. Whilst it is totally unacceptable to use language like today to describe another human being you do have to put the overall character of the individual alongside the comments made to give balance to the argument. If you watch 70s and 80s TV you will be shocked at the writing and delivery from the actors many of whom are still respected today. We grow as people and we gain compassion and experience from our surroundings and growth....

Ironic. Ron calls Desailly a ‘thick n*****r’, and refers to the Cameroonian player as ‘not having a brain’. Mr Atkinson, look in the mirror you really are an imbecile.

Pity nobody appraised him that abstinence is NOT the only way, neither is it the most effective. Research "The Sinclair Method" (aka Pharmacological Extinction). Alcohol Use Disorder is completely treatable and effectively curable today.

I'm a big fan of Tony Adams, but strongly disagree that his 4 month jail sentence for drink driving was too harsh. Anyone who drinks & drives could easily kill someone. Gotta have a tough sentence as a deterrent.

The issue here is not so much whether Ron is a racist, and I don't think he is, out of idiocy he parroted something that was in the air in his community, the issue is that the public pronouncement of his offending words were like sticking a knife in an old wound.

  • @seangrogan3622

Irish jokes were still common in the 1980s. I never suffered anti Irish discrimination but I had such an odd feeling with those jokes and hoped people wouldn't pick up on my name. These racial slurs just exclude you, deny who you are as a person. For black people suffering discrimination it is horrendous to be excluded for something like skin colour which you have no control over. If you have any idea of this you will have no tolerance for the language used by Ron.

Answer - Probably, and should have been more educated by 2004. If not himself certainly by the TV station if they thought he was a flight risk? Question - Why is Sir Geoff Hurst still a legend for using the same word 14 years prior to this??? kzread.info/dash/bejne/qoF2pq5roc23Ybw.htmlsi=SwhH2XroX8x9ZCsb

The funny thing is, Adrian Chiles, while narrating this documentary, says the word "ni**er" several times. That itself is unheard of now in British mainstream media and historic utterances of it now often require an apology, regardless of the context.
