Thanks ✌🏻😎🇺🇸
That turned out really good!! That smoke ring was beautiful. What charcoal did you use?
Got mine for 150 at Walmart. Its called expert grill though at Walmart. Same thing
Great video
Very informative ! Thank you Sir!
Gabby's works for a few years, then will warp and mine kept slipping out of the side. Junior, the owner, never addressed it and after being in business over ten years, he's only got ten biased reviews ( not including mine which he never posted). There's way better grills out there for a Santa Maria attachment for a Weber.
Like your video, but Gabby's grill sucks in my opinion.
Epic review man…I just got myself a 2023 Master Touch Ocean Blue and it looks identical to yours! Did yours come with the raised warming rack? Mine did not come with the charcoal baskets, there’s some new variation of that that are racks that you insert which basically do the same thing. Glad to know it’s a solid grill, so far so good! I’ve had it for about 2 months now.
Daddy
The lid at an angle is to keep the grill from tipping over.
Couldn’t you just add a small stack of washers to each side that would allow the lid to sit at more of a 90° angle
Rusty grate
Closing upper and lower vents it will not put out the fire. The sweeper apparently is not air tight.
I wonder if this guy's wife ever yells at him for having all those Kettles in the back. Lol. "ANOTHER ONE?!" Lolol
How do these perform when outside temperatures are below 25 degrees farenheit???? Anyone know??? I know the Broil King Keg will keep high temperatures in the cold weather, but if these do as well, I'll gladly get one of these and save $800.00!!!
I love my Akorn! Mine is exactly like yours. My only gripe is that the thermometer in the lid reads low-almost 50°. But I have an electronic grill/meat temp reader so I use that and ignore the lid thermometer. Besides that, it's an amazing cooker for $300!
Excellent cook!👍💪
$730 in new Zealand for this but im saving
I’m considering getting this or a Smokey mountain from Weber. Seeing you have both what would you recommend
If you’re looking at primarily smoking, I would would recommend the WSM. If this is going to be your only cooker I would get the Akorn. It does grilling and smoking very well. I’m saying that the WSM is a better dedicated smoker.
@@littlepigbarbeque9756 thanks brother i like do do my research and your opinion is greatly valued
Gonna give this a try today for some memorial day ribs! Thanks for the great vid
Very informative. You have a talent for this & should make more videos.
Thanks for taking the time to make a very informative video!
So why didnt you use any wood to smoke?
Thanks so much for your detailed instructions!!
My first kettle should be delivered in few days, I went with rock n roll blue 70th limited edition. On sale if anyone else looking to buy one.
I’m gonna start making videos for fun too and your first video was actually really good, brother! Keep it up! - Fired Up Kamado
Greets from finland✋🏻great stuff😋🔥
If it was even close to being a similar price in the UK, I'd be buying one. Sadly this larger version borders on the equivalent of $745, while the Jr is roughly priced similar to yours at $290. Just not sure I can justify £550+ though.
looks really good i will try it on my weber.
I've put a Boston butt on the grill with only black pepper and salt. Best ever
You hit it on the head…pay good money, give us the best lid bail
Great video on how to make the viewer hungry bro lol. I like how you keep it all simple. Great BBQ is always meant to be fun and easy... My only issue is how long I have to wait LOL. Thanks for the videos.
Actually making the food is the best! You’re welcome bro!
New to a Weber. Got a Performer off Craig's List and saved a bunch. What did you set your vents at? Do the wires affect a cook at all going under the lid? Santa brought me a SNS...how long do the coals usually last? I'm going to try a PButt when it warms up here. Thanks
I have never had an issue with wires and lids. I run offset stickburners, pellet smokers, kettles and barrel cookers. I know some people are more particular (fuzzy) about lid seals etc. I do not believe in making harder to cook. 😁 I wish this unit had hole provisions, but it is what it is. I am sure this guy feels the same way. Good luck with your craigslist find! Happy food days ahead for you I am sure.
Picked one up at lowes today. Will season it tomorrow.
I just bought a 26 inch weber charcoal grill with a slow and sear charcoal holder,I love using butcher pink paper, any pointers on my new grill?
My best pointer for low and slow on any kettle is to set the bottom damper to about 1/4 inch open. Adjust the top vent from there to get to your desired temp.
Do you use butcher paper,I love it?
I use butcher paper when I cook brisket and ribs occasionally. It definitely keeps the bark intact!
Did you move your thermometer on the lid? If so, how did you close the original hole? Great video!
Sorry for the delay. I did not move the thermometer. This kettle is stock!
Just got mine. Thanks for tips.
Good cook ! Bisides wings, is the Vortex good for cooking other Q? Thanks
It sure is! Anything chicken related it’s awesome. Cooks a great steak as well because of the ability for a VERY high sear. Then you have a cooler side to move the meat to.
So where did you get the stone?
Ordered mine from Amazon. amzn.to/3N7WaSQ
Had mine for over 20 years and still use it almost every weekend. holds heat very well and has cooked more meat than some restaurants. One of the best cooking investments we've bought in 39 years of marriage. Hard to regulate below 200 degrees. Only warning is that if both upper and lower vents are open you better keep your eye on it when searing. Once you pass about 450 degrees, it can take off like a rocket to over 700 degrees. I actually cracked the cast iron grate. But she will flat cook, can smoke with the best out there and fitting a stone, gets hot enough to do pizza, no problem. Walmart currently has em, on seanal clearance for under $250 here in Georgia
Dude I’ve accidentally left mine unattended for too long when trying to get the coals going. Both vents wide open…the grate was glowing red and the thermometer was PEGGED. It can get dangerously hot if not careful. Lesson learned. It smokes like a dream though!
I love my Char-griller (even if I still find it a bit fiddly and haven't quite worked out the finer points of an 8 hour cook lol)
It’s great for the money! There are obviously better and easier cookers out there but learning a cooker is half the fun.
Good job, so along the way, how many time did you add charcoal?
This cook was a while back so I dont remember exactly. I likely would have added some unlit coals about halfway through.
Now that was a good cook…thanks for sharing that one.
What is the website for the kit to make a drone
That’s a super nice, inexpensive Kamado!! How many inches is the cooking surface? 18 inches? 20 inches? Great video too, bro! Smoke on!
Cooking surface is about 19.5 inches. It’s a great size!
Thanks, bro. What I liked about your vid is how you covered coal amount, temps and vent positions in detail. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Good luck my dude!
Thanks for such a thorough video. I have spent hours viewing BBQ videos and you covered some great BBQ tips on the fine aspects of cooking ribs, not just a review of the Akorn only. I own a gas grill, pellet smoker, and offset smoker. I am deciding between steel kamado vs ceramic, and you have given me some great info. One caution was using Akorn as low as 225 and the fire going out, and you said not to worry. I intent to use a kamado grill for slow smoking poultry, and simple hamburgers and steak over charcoal. Great tutorial.
Thanks man!
You did not show adding charcoal, yet it appears that charcoal was added????
It was added. I likely edited it out due to poor video quality or something.
@@littlepigbarbeque9756you replied to someone that you DID NOT have to add any more coals. Now you say you did. Which is it?
Thanks for a great video

Expert Grill Kamado Charcoal Grill 200 bucks at Walmart.
Not a bad deal. Never had any experience with it.
