This is what I love to watch, the "old-fashioned" dance championships where there is more grace and softness. Today's professional dancing is very aggressive, almost athletic, yucch.

Ну да чемпионами становятся именно те ,кто быстрее бегает по танцполу и вращается как юла...а еще много зависит от судей,которые и тренируют тех самых чемпионов.У кого нет денег и знакомых тебе тренеров,как бы круто ты не танцевал тут делать нечего. Вот в этом весь танцевальный спорт.Знакомства,деньги и много чего другого. С высоты лет смотришь на это развлечение и понимаешь как тебя увели в сторону от самого себя.Роскошь,финансы,титулы это ширма властьимущих.

For me Lorraine and Andrew will be forever the epitome of high class, elegance and grace. They are my favorites. I spent a half a century in my academic and scientific career, but Dance (in which I participated as an amateur dancer for 3 decades in Folks and Ballroom), brought the most happiness and left the best memories.

This is Blackpool 2006 and in the Latin section I can see messrs. Alexei(Russia), Stefano, Eugene(US champ), Maurizio, etc...they are registered as amateurs...Peter Stokkebroe who won the Blackpool Latin pro later also won in this 2006 ama pack....and in the Ballroom section I could recognize only three couples....Benedetto Perrugia, Arunas Bezocas and Emmanuel Valeri...

This is a unique expression of waltz by Richard and Janet. The first 2 and a half minutes is the BEST video of this unique couple in the waltz. They are particularly musically expressive, and the atmosphere of waltz is throughout their body. It´s the Swan Lake performance of waltz. Like the 1980 Germany honor dance foxtrot is the Swan Lake of fox.

The Irvine foxtrot is unique, even today. Same with the quickstep. The same with Eggleton´s fantastic Gary Sharp video channel quickstep show. Note that Irvine and Eggleton ALWAYS place feet under the weight of the body, making the dance light, and relaxed. No long steps. This is SO different from the strenuous, long-striding modern quickstep. But Arunas and Katusha, and the Hiltons, had it perfectly. In the quickstep here, Irvine is supreme in timing and technique, even more perfect than Eggleton.
