Except for the return to the more child friendly formula, this is one of the best Gamera movies. Gaos is an interesting Kaiju design. The plot moves fairly fast and is fairly action packed. Gaos does actually reappear in a later film, Gamera vs Guirion. It's interesting to see the strength difference in Guirion and Gaos

This "black and white" version was phenomenal to watch! It was also the 4th time to see this film. It reminded me of when I was a kid, over 50 years ago, and seeing the Godzilla films on TV.

I own 33 different Godzilla movies, 6 different King Kong movies, original Mothra and remake Mothra I and Mothra II. I had never seen Gamera but I got the full Gamera movies set from Arrow. After watching the first 4, already hooked. Great movies!!

Aside from Cate, May, and Ken. I thought the show was pretty good. It's interesting to see the backstory of Monarch. Godzilla was cool, too. Didn't like the main trio. Thought they were too whiny. May and Cate, in particular, they just treated everyone like assholes. Liked the other characters, though.

I thought it was neat to see Godzilla before the Castle Bravo explosion, especially since we only saw snippets of him in the beginning of G 2014. I will agree on May and Cate. Reminded me a bit of Aaron Johnson's role in 2014.

Personally I don’t have a problem with what Legendary does with the Monsterverse. It’s a different take on the character. I’ll always prefer Toho’s portrayal of Godzilla but the Monsterverse has managed to finally portray Godzilla in a quality style

Nah, the Bandai America MG is pretty on-point to how Godzilla and MechaGodzilla scaled in 1974. They were both 50 meters in the movie, and there are even plenty of shots that show G and MG standing at equal height. It was in _Terror of MechaGodzilla_ where the MG suit was beefed up in size to be taller than Godzilla, even tho, again, canonically, MechaGodzilla 2 is still 50 meters in height. Good review nonetheless, tho.

Looking at the ending, once Godzilla turns into a magnet, MG still seems taller than him. Possible that Godzilla was hunched over a bit but it appears that when he tries to take off, they’re standing on the same level ground

Since this year marks Megalon's 50th anniversary, hopefully we might finally get G'73 in the Movie Monster series (not G'74/75, but close enough for the time being. Might get the real deal in 2024 and 2025, though).

I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the first half went by fast, but then it slowed to a nice, steady face for the 2nd half. The final battle was not what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. They did a good job paying tribute to the classic series, while also giving it a modern, clever update.

I enjoyed it, I would have liked the dub version more I think than Sub version, as it was to fast paced to read the lines and watch the action. I also missed alot of the original things of Orig series...(Grunts by Ultraman) the SSSP's Equipment such as guns/planes & a HQ rather than a tent or Office..I'd really like to see it fine tuned and would welcome a trilogy!!

As a new comer to Ultraman, I freaking love it. To me personally Shin Godzilla is a Godzilla masterpiece. This Shin Ultraman has made me a fan now. I don’t know if I’ll watch other Ultraman but I’m excited for Shin Ultraman universe. Now the wait for my most anticipated film of 2023, Shin Kamen Rider. I didn’t mind the cgi, loved every bit of it. Some people say they copied scenes from the early shows but to me as a new comer it was nice to see. You just can’t cater to old fans, you have to think about new comers too and that’s why Hideaki Anno and Shinji are perfect for this Shin universe.

Classic Ultraman is serious in sense, but due to it's target audience is kids to adult, the tone is much more lighter. Shin Ultraman kept the joke, but delivered the message effectively. Shin Ultraman is the definition how classic to modern adaptation done right. While they omitted the first monster that Ultraman fought, but the electric kaiju scene is much more memorable.

I loved it! Honestly my favorite toku/kaiju flick to come out of the modern kaiju renaissance. It's definitely gonna have some people mixes about it but overall I love the changes they did in the film.

I enjoyed it, I would have liked the dub version more I think than Sub version, as it was to fast paced to read the lines and watch the action. I also missed alot of the original things of Orig series...(Grunts by Ultraman) the SSSP's Equipment such as guns/planes & a HQ rather than a tent or Office..I'd really like to see it fine tuned and would welcome a trilogy!!

As a new comer to Ultraman, I freaking love it. To me personally Shin Godzilla is a Godzilla masterpiece. This Shin Ultraman has made me a fan now. I don’t know if I’ll watch other Ultraman but I’m excited for Shin Ultraman universe. Now the wait for my most anticipated film of 2023, Shin Kamen Rider. I didn’t mind the cgi, loved every bit of it. Some people say they copied scenes from the early shows but to me as a new comer it was nice to see. You just can’t cater to old fans, you have to think about new comers too and that’s why Hideaki Anno and Shinji are perfect for this Shin universe.
I was saying to a friend of mine that I have a feeling this will be a good intro film for anyone who may want to get into Ultraman
Classic Ultraman is serious in sense, but due to it's target audience is kids to adult, the tone is much more lighter. Shin Ultraman kept the joke, but delivered the message effectively. Shin Ultraman is the definition how classic to modern adaptation done right. While they omitted the first monster that Ultraman fought, but the electric kaiju scene is much more memorable.
I loved it! Honestly my favorite toku/kaiju flick to come out of the modern kaiju renaissance. It's definitely gonna have some people mixes about it but overall I love the changes they did in the film.
Some of the changes really threw me for a loop, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Top tier film and I’m definitely looking forward to the proposed trilogy they have planned!

No doubt they will. They played it in select Alamo Drafthouses this year for Godzilla Day as well
