Your wife is technically very correct and here is why. Rain that falls from the sky isn't always as pure as it looks. You have dust particles, co2 or other micro gases which when mixed with rain water, form acidic rain. When you get soaked by this, it could lead to fever and other symptoms. Having a bath doesn't only mean water falling on you. It's also about being washed off any impurities. So yes, she's Correct.
