  I want them all. Every stage of a Chow's life is amazing. It's the only breed I will ever own. I'm 75. I'm raising my 5th Chow. He's 10. I've had several Chows living to 13, 15 and 16. I'd like to think my guy will be around another 6 years. My goal is to live to be 100 and still have a Chow at my side. I've had Chows that weighed under 70# several that were over 80#. My guy is the largest Chow I have owned, 120#. All muscle. We walk 5 mi everyday. He is 6 inches at the withers taller than the AKC standard. He is a big boy. He gets two meals a day. One with beef. One with chicken. I cook his meals everyday. I don't use processed or canned food. Every month, 10# of ground chuck. 30# of chicken quarters. Broccoli and white rice along with a vitamin bone meal supplement is on the menu with the ground chuck. 4 oz of deboned chicken, rice, 1 teaspoon of chicken fat and 1/4 cup of chicken bone broth. You get a healthy dog, that has never been sick or has ever thrown up.

  I have a 1 and a half year old chow and cannot find a groomer. Planning to do it myself, but she is a very nervous girl. How can I get her used to this? I do brush her lots, keeping away the "horns" behind the ears. I just want to be able to trim her a bit for tidying. She does not like her paws held, especially the back ones. Your girl is so behaved!

  Incredible video! Keep them coming! It’s so discouraging to see all these irresponsible breeders producing these “rare colors” in any breed. I grew up with chows and I hope this breed doesn’t get completely ruined for the sake of pride and money.

  The Chow Chow is the only dog that is almost as cute as an adult, as it was as a puppy. My cream chow is my Meaty Face Polar Bear Buddy.

  @@ampungi1 They are not like other dogs. They have 2 more teeth and a blue tongue. They behave more like a cat. They don't lick and seldom cuddle. My chow will show affection by sitting next to me, and putting her paw on my shoe. They are the perfect dog for people with allergies, because the dander is under such thick fur. The fur is softer than mink. They are intelligent, independent and stubborn. Grooming is not too bad. Twice a year the under coat falls out, and they shed lumps of fur then. Nature regulates the length of the coat by how often the hair falls out, so short hair dogs shed worse. I brush her about once a month.
