System Dynamics Society

System Dynamics Society

We are an international, nonprofit organization devoted to encouraging the development and use of systems thinking and System Dynamics modeling worldwide. The Society provides a forum in which researchers, educators, students, consultants, and practitioners in the academic, corporate, and public sectors can interact to keep abreast of current developments, build on each other’s work and introduce newcomers to the field.

We host an annual conference and many virtual and onsite meetings around the globe. The Society has several chapters and special interest groups such as:
Economics Dynamics
Healthcare Dynamics
Environmental and Climate Dynamics
Business Dynamics
Supply Chain and Transportation.

A Society membership offers access to resources and discounts. You can find more on our Website: systemdynamics.org

    Before anything you would have to be aligned with orbit in order to restore the climate activity here on Earth. I process I have active within my consciousness on a daily basis. without the cooperation of "orbit" nothing of our ecosystem gets restored. To create a system that connects the solar system and ecosystem I have created it. It is called "divine matrix". if you would like to gain knowledge of more please reply. peace.

    Sorry if i missed it, but what is that software? It looks pretty neat. I wonder if theres a python package thats similar

    The software is Vensim and it has a free PLE licence (for students and academis). For python there is PySD library but the documentation is very poor.

    This is a great presentation, can we apply it for understanding in system dynamics for drinking water supply sustainability?

  • @systemdynamics_
    @systemdynamics_8 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your kind words! Absolutely, the principles of system dynamics are versatile and can be applied to a wide range of fields, including the sustainability of drinking water supply. We encourage researchers and professionals to leverage system dynamics in exploring such critical issues. Keep up the curiosity, and please let us know if you have any further questions!

    This is one example of why I quit the Systems Dynamics Society several years ago. The modelers do not seem to get the concept of "complex adaptive systems" (i.e. living systems). Systems Dynamics can help us to understand those systems, but it does not provide a tool for managing them. For these systems to perform effectively and efficiently the elements of such systems (individual humans) must make their own choices.

    Thank you, Jim, for sharing your thoughts. We acknowledge that Systems Dynamics isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, particularly for complex adaptive systems. The discipline is evolving, and it can be a valuable part of a broader toolkit for understanding and managing complexity. Your perspective is important to us, and it helps shape the future of the field.

    Great presentation - best explanation I have have seen of SD in 30 years of following, The "Bottom Line' slide was spot on and I liked the 80/20 rule that it's the basic initial work that can be most valuable, The random walk "worm" visualisation was very smart 👍👍
