Sweet video! I’ve been trying to do a video on the history of the canyon, did any of the construction people mind that you flew over the dam, kinda scared of flying over them.

This park brings has a warm place in my heart after school me and some friends would always walk to Chatsworth park and climb on the rocks sit down and talk about life and see the nice view.

You can tell this is a manmade, artificial "lake".
You would think that the shot of the dam would give that away. :-) Also, the year I shot it, the water level was WAY down as you can tell by the ribbon of white around the waterline.

Glad you enjoyed it. It's also connected to the Gene Leahy Mall that I flew opening weekend of last year. Considering how much this is all nearby in the downtown area of Omaha, it's quite a collection of destinations now.

oh they finally finished that one?? It was under construction when I was there... Looking good. Thats where all the concert are organized today? When I was there there was some party going on on the yard north side of this place
Yeah, I remember you were staying downtown so you would have been fairly close to it. There are plenty of other venues, but this park is going to be great all spring/summer/fall even without concerts.

That whole sequence of in and out of reveals and timelapses was a programmed route. I actually flew it 3 times because I wanted a slightly different change in altitude, etc. My big problem from launch point 2 (just SW of Trump tower north side of the river) was trying to make sure I was getting a decent GPS fix. I had tried to launch from the south side of the river across from there but I was too deep in the canyon of buildings. Scary stuff.

*Good opening scene and smooth flight. Nice Autumn colors. Wow, this is one park? It's amazing! Multiple tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, baseball / softball fields, and a contemporary building (not sure what it is though). Very nice location to fly! Well done. 👍*
Forgot to mention in the info (will fix) that the building is part of their botanical gardens. But yeah, it's a neat place so close to downtown.

I wish I saw this sooner. Someone told me a "pedestrian mall" was being built in downtown Omaha. Imagine my surprise, a good surprise, when I found this instead. This is a park, not a pedestrian mall. I've been to pedestrian malls before. This is not one of them. However, It is an excellent park.
Yeah, the word "mall" is one of those that means different things to different people in different contexts. Kind of a hand-wavey sort of thing. Bottom line is that I have been down there a ton-both flying for this and a paid gig down there and for just time with the family. It's a nice wonderful place. And will get better when they re-open the redesigned Heartland of America Park and Lewis and Clark Landing next summer. (And I'm already scheduled to shoot those.)

Thanks for saying so, David. I actually did some paid work after this was shot for the lighting designer for the mall from the international company that did it. We shot on 3 consecutive nights because he loved the ability of night shots from on high.

Not sure about the color of the water there. Of course, on St. Patrick's Day, they dye the river green... but this was almost exactly as far away from St. Patty's as you can get in a year! As for that segment starting at 2:15, that was kind of part of the plan when I flew it-to do all those reveals like that. But I didn't know my music then obviously. So once that segment of music was heard, I knew that I could speed ramp my way from the Hancock reveal, to Michigan Ave. to Wrigley, to the distance, to Trump tower... worked out well. Thanks for swinging by, David. I'll be back more often now.

Admittedly, I did not see any monsters. Not even in my Lake Travis video or my Mt. Bonnell video. I may have to come back and look harder.

Sorry about the late response. No, I did not. I am FAA Part 107 certified, but that doesn't mean I can get away with stuff. However, it also DOES mean that I know the rules better than people that come up to me and give me a hard time. (And the license card settles them down if it comes to that.) Just research your location(s) before you fly.
