At 4:15, the instruction manual says "use a good quality soldering iron" but neither the manual nor the video mentions the importance of tip size, shape, and material; nor does it warn of the prevalence of cheapo, junky tips made of steel being sold on the internet (They should be made of copper for fast, efficient heat transfer, but not bare copper which tends to pit and corrode from the effects of molten solder and flux; high quality copper tips are typically plated with chrome or similar metal that resists solder, except at the pointy of end of the tip, which needs to be plated with iron; iron allows solder to wet to it but will resist the dissolving and corrosive effects of solder. Tips should not be highly magnetic throughout, only at the iron-plated end of the tip. If you buy tips from ebay, amazon, aliexpress or temu, theyll almost certainly be junky tips made of garbage metal. For that matter, pointy conical tips are apparently the defacto standard for tip type included with a new soldering station, even though "chisel" tips are often a better match to the work being done; you'll have to buy them separately).
Tig & stick welding is harder but this is a good intro to welding metals👌
Soldering electronic connections has little to do with welding or brazing; nor does it it bear much relationship to soldering copper plumbing.

Can you clear up the insanity that is the tip compatibility between all your irons?
Got one as a gift used it twice never worked again think its the trigger but not to sure. Worked good for those 2x tho😅

Completely useless because it does not address the definitions for each position! Like why would I want to set offset?? Why would I want t o lock?? And other issues. Customers er service does not respond. I'm thinking of returning unit...it's garbage support!
we know how to press buttons and read words! How about telling us what each setting means? Like standby? What is that for? Why would I want to lock it? etc etc.....you know what I'm saying...where can I get these definitions from? I called support multiple times but no return call. The quick start guide was missing from box also.

I keep getting a sticky residue behind on my soldering pieces and I don't know why it's really hard to get rid of aswell it's like the sap from a tree
Most likely it is rosin or flux from the solder which prevents it from oxidizing. It is generally pretty easy to clean off with some isopropyl alcohol.

PRO TIP: If you get ANY of that 'activator', aka *paste flux,* on your hands or fingers, before you do anything else, *WASH YOUR HANDS. THOROUGHLY.* (Projectile diarrhea is nature's way of telling you that you shouldn't ingest this. Don't ask me how I know...)

Just so happens that the Soldering Tip Activator actually shortens the life of the tip. Reason being is the Activator has Ammonia in it and will eat away the soldering tip. I know this from many years of soldering. If you want new tips sooner then use it.
Hello! I have a WXA2 station with a lot of accessories. 120W heating plate, RT Ultra 150W soldering iron, hot air iron, micro soldering iron. 1. Question: The above accessories are suitable for new WX Smart Soldering Station? I understand that, can I use the peripheral things for that too? 2nd question For my WXA2 hot air station, can I practically connect the new "WX Air" unit? Will it work at all? Ich hatte Probleme mit der Erkennung des USB Sticks. Ich habe verschiedene Sticks durchprobiert, bis einer ging. Ich denke, dass der Stick in FAT32 und nicht in exFAT formatiert sein muss. Eventuell den Hinweis bitte in die readme hinzufügen :)

I tried with all USB flash I have, 128MB, 4GB 16GB and FAT16, FAT32 with default clustering size without success!!!. Update: After formatting the USB stick FAT32 with default allocation size, I had to unplug / plug it again and put the firmware in root, SUCCESS
your product is junk (9400) used it once for about 5 minutes and now it doesn't. I would not recommend it

one day, my Weller WX 2 stopped seeing soldering irons for no reason... it turns on, the firmware number does not display correctly, it displays 000 on both channels and that's it. The support service has not responded to any of my requests. Now I don't know what to do with it. I highly recommend not purchasing this station.

@WellerSoldering, I tried to update the firmware on my brand new WX1 with a FAT32, 32G USB drive and now I have a blank screen, unit is dead. Do you have a recovery procedure for such a cases?.
I was told that if you don’t use distilled water on the sponge 🧽 your solder will catch on fire 🔥.or may cause an explosion 💥.
