    The best part of this video isn't even the medical skills but how seamlessly the different providers at home, ambulance and hospital worked together as a Birth TEAM. America does not know how to do this yet....

    Propofol have me a nightmare and I woke up crying. They also told me I said some disturbing things when I woke up and asked me about that. I got more upset about that! I don't think that was the 'light' sedation I was promised!

  • @ventilator98
    @ventilator983 жыл бұрын

    Well, medications like Propofol, Ketamine, and Versed do that on occasion! And it's obvious that you didn't mean what you said. You were simply under the influence of the medications, and some eople act rather unusual when they're waking up from the administration of these medications. I've done that. I've had Versed and I was told later I was fiddling with another patient's IV Pump whilst I was waiting for the Anesthesiologist to take me back to the Operating Room.

  • @KatJ3st
    @KatJ3st Жыл бұрын

    @@FlashCave31 it wasn't 'general' anesthesia, it's for day surgery - considered 'light sedation' but often with a big kick in the dream department just before you wake up. It was likely the Ketamine they weren't supposed to use on me. That fact surprised the heck out of the anesthesiologist when I had my hip surgery later that year. I told him about the Prop/Ket mix for day surgery and he was like 'WHAT????'. So from then on I tell the staff I have an allergy to Ketamine.

    Very useful, I’ve just had my first ever operation and I wish I’d had found this before, tbh though the needle in the hand was the thing I was most nervous about as I’ve never had one there before and I’m terrified of needles... after that I wasn’t too concerned as it was a low risk surgery, but this is very interesting to know what goes on and it’s pretty accurate too for within the NHS.

  • @snoopyfan07
    @snoopyfan073 жыл бұрын

    Danielle a little but it wasn’t really that bad, I’d say having a needle in your arm is worse, plus you’re put to sleep pretty soon after having the needle in your hand so you don’t really have the time to think about it lol. For me the worst was coming around from the anaesthetics as that hit me pretty hard, but I think that was just because of my small build. Hope that helps and hope it goes well.

    Why does the UK put people to sleep outside of the operating rooms I would think this would cause way more work. I’ve never understood that because then you have to transfer for a unconscious person onto an operating bed instead of having the person get comfortable before they’re put to sleep on the table

  • @ednabmode9223
    @ednabmode92235 жыл бұрын

    I think it probably depends on what you are having done. I had an operation at the hospital that made this video and I went under on the operating table. It was a fairly short, non-major operation. However, my next one will be a major operation and, so I gather, I will be given the general anaesthetic outside of the operating theatre and then taken in. Perhaps it varies between hospitals and what you're having done.

    The Rheumatology Dept at Royal Berks, in my opinion, is second to none. I was first diagnosed around 2004, in North London, but the Drs were reluctant to give anything but analgesia. When I returned to Reading in 2009 I was fortunate to register with a GP whose interest was RA and he also covered rheumatology clinics so I was quickly referred. The disease was uncontrolled and I was admitted 3 times in about 18 months. Now I am on the correct treatment and my inflammatory markers are normal. The rheumatology specialist nurses are very good as are all of the Consultants. Thank you to all the Rheumatology Team.
