If there is a 1 on the left and a 2 on the right, then changing the 1 into a 3 is too much, so the 1 is instead changed into a 21. Only the last digit and 0 on the left gets added by 11.

thank you. i have struggled for years with any form of math, nothing i try works and my japanese friend just suggested i use a soroban she said my issue is in holding and manipulating temporal and spatial information and that i should be fine once i start using one as it will develop those abilities. so today is the day i start fixing those issues with the hopes that one day i too can math lol :)

@zubby well its deffinitely helped, i dont have the issue of forgeting values half way though when using a soroban. its also in some part rubbed off when im not using it. its like my brain has started to change how it handles a number for example before i saw the number 6 in my mind when i thought of 6... now i see the equivelant in beads. im not sure how effective it is practically but i have seen a mild improvement in speed, accuracy and a reduction in losing track in the middle of working with numbers then having to go back and start again(big issue before). i havent been very diligant in using it though maybe a few times a week or every other week as ive been obsessed with sound design. but yeah im glad i started using one.

I also start learning soroban, from my view this is 1st step for beginning. In the higher level, they no longer use abacus . instead, they will calculate with imaginary abacus. This is the golden key to practice mental arithmetic and activate the right hemisphere of the brain

@lumpia85203 жыл бұрын
Its the same process. it wont subtract evently, but untill the number you keep adding 2 towards is greater than the number your subtracting from, than you add the one and divide by two and still get the answer of 89 for sqrt 7921. ill try it with the other one and let you know if it still works

I’m trying to approximate sqrt(2) with this method, but I don’t know how to end it since, because sqrt(2) is irrational, a difference of 0 will never be obtained in the subtraction. Any tips?

@@jimurban5367You just stop it earlier than that point. You can still get a good approximation of sqrt(2) that way.

Hello, I see that you have submitted videos for the Khan Academy Talent Search. My name is Barry Desborough. I am keen on producing educational material and making it freely available on the internet. Here is a project that I have started. Basically it is an “educational wikipedia for children” (and for adults who have not benefited from an adequate education). The home page is home.wikidia.wikispaces.net/Home+Page To find out more, go to home.wikidia.wikispaces.net/About+Wikidia I am looking for people who are keen on helping me create content and making this idea fly. It is easy to embed videos in Wikidia, but you may also add text and still images and all sorts of other content too. Wikispaces is a feature-rich and easy to use system oriented to creating educational content. Try it out by going to the Sandbox sub-wiki @ sandbox.wikidia.wikispaces.net/home and experimenting. Please feel free to contact me via Google+ or [email protected] Best regards Barry
