Richter didn't raise his wrists half a meter just for show, it doesn't do anything. playing expressively is another thing, moving your hands and body doesn't change how the keys are pressed, that's technique. it's virtuosity. something this guy doesn't master otherwise the whole musical world would know his name.

@@soysauce4087 Personally, it bothers me in a performance to see a pianist who thinks he can balance the fact that he doesn't know how to play expressively by moving and making strange gestures with his hands. Very musical performance of maybe the best known if the 4thfminor Ballade and the perfume commercial years ago are not better known. The beginning of the Ballade is gorgeous exposition but it won't catch attention of people going about their lives. One ofthe Chopin etudes A loud scherzo or 3rdBallade n etude or one of the scherzi ,3rd or 4thscherzo, BRach etudeTableau or Kreisleriana or any ofthe Schumann Sym etudes can get people's attention .

i disagree. there's also sonata in b minor from liszt and the last 5 beethoven sonatas. at this level, there's simply no 'best' and everything is subjective. ballade no.4 is also comparable to these and beethoven's appassionata sonata.is also just as amazing as this.
