  I loathe that this is an example of acting and passes as appropriate, especially in a dignified activity such as speech and debate. No student should perpetuate disability drag as an acceptable form of performing. Actors play people who aren't themselves... sure, but there's a line, and this is well past that line.

  No it's not, it's a beautiful piece which brings awareness. Just because someone who isn't disabled is portraying a fictional character who is, that doesn't mean the performance is offensive. She isn't mocking anyone disabled, she is playing the character realistically.

  One thing that helped me with getting rid of nerves (totally unsolicited) is having a goal for a tournament rather than focusing on getting high scores. Like, get feedback from judges on blocking by trying something new, or add more emotion at the climactic point and see if they like it or don't. Either way you come out with something you can use,.

  @@jacksonkloes4967 That's a really good tip. I acknowledge its been a few years since you left this comment, but it's nice to remember that. I've always felt pressured to do things perfectly, so I almost always bail on doing anything new. It's really difficult to remember why we do those things though, to "come out with something you can use".

  Asutoaru Also been a while since you added this comment, but that’s exactly why i peak in the middle of season. Nearing the end, i’m used to it and since there’s nothing new, i just do the same voice inflections and gestures, essentially too comfortable. This year, three of our Dramatic Interpritators (or serious prose in our district/state) did our scripts with completely different voice inflections on parts. Helped a lot.

  Yeah you guys got the contensions from the pro-con cuban website but in that website they argue about should it be maintained. So in pro you should actually say that we should lift the embargo and con is the opposite.
