Split This Rock cultivates, teaches, and celebrates poetry that bears witness to injustice and provokes social change. The nonprofit organization explores and celebrates the many ways that poetry can act as an agent for change: reaching across differences, considering personal and social responsibility, asserting the centrality of the right to free speech, bearing witness to the diversity and complexity of human experience through language, imagining a better world.
Split This Rock is dedicated to revitalizing poetry as a living, breathing art form with profound relevance in our daily lives and struggles. Our programs integrate poetry of provocation and witness into movements for social justice and support the poets of all ages who write and perform this vital work.

snap snap snap!
I would feel disrespected if someone snapped fingers while I read my poem aloud, but I have no idea how Mr Betts feels about it.
Ross Gay’s books and poetry. First time I e listened to him. His books are incredible
Interesting.
I just finished reading Solito. My takeaway more than anything was the aloneness he experienced, how he had to be so perfect to be accepted and how brutal the entire journey was.

God this moves me. I've listened to this 10 times today. It makes me cry
Danielle, this is so wonderful & beautiful. I soaked it all in. As someone for whom things slide out of focus very quickly & easily, this felt amazing to me. Your voice & delivery are so perfectly accessible. I loved hearing the words of your own & of Rachal, singly & combined. Very thought-provoking in all instances. No wonder you're the Poet Laureate of Fairfax, VA! I'm quite impressed with all the achievements I saw on IG, especially your beautiful wife & baby. You & Holly & Iris make a great family! I've never ever thought I could write poetry, but listening to this has inspired me to keep my eyes open for some artifacts of my parents as I go through my house, & maybe see what I can do. I've received teachings that said that, before we enter each of our lives, we have worked on planning what we need to learn while we're in the physical form. Before we come into it, everything is known about our own upcoming events. Thank you so much for this, Danielle. Carol Glidden
Thank you Naomi! I appreciated how you grounded us in our bodies. I’m excited to dig into these prompts! 💜🌵
This is amazing
wow, i'm hearing and loved watching the interpreter and following the tonality and unique tint he lent to the pieces. brought the poems (as well as the video generally) that much more to life!

Is chino still alive ?
I had the privilege to see this articulate, intelligent, enormously talented woman perform her poetry at Temple University in Philadelphia. I will never forget the ambience in the room.
Urban gentrification goes against building a strong black nation. What the crack cocaine epidemic didn't do to destroy the black community, getrication did.
😭💔
Interesting.

This was very insightful. Definitely worth the watch. 😊

Mr. Seibles! For now, I can only return the line you wrote in my high school yearbook. "You're a superstar!"

GLORIA A DIOS
Powerful poem I understand it but you have to know Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice so we all didn’t end up in hell. His destroyed us off once and before doing it again completely he gave his son. Jesus prayed to see if he could save us without going through that and god didn’t move not one time while he was being murdered to give us a chance at eternal life that’s true love. The devil reigns over this earth until Jesus comes back so it’s filled with evil and only gonna get worse

Here in 2024 🙌
A work of lyric, linguistic, controlled genius. A concise emotion that seems also to swell and burst. Give her all the great awards.
Love the voice of reading very much
Good translation and reading! However, I don't understand the reason why keeping Deutschland, which could be perfectly translated into "Germany". Furthermore, according to the original version, I don't think it is correctly translated "we are digging a grave in the sky" as it should be "...in the air" and "you'll have a grave in the sky" it should be "you'll have a grave in the clouds".
This is exquisite. Lucille Clifton. ♥
