Hello my name is Michael,
I am a bladesmith, blacksmith, carpenter, construction worker, leather worker, and professional archer. On this channel I will show some of the work I do, and promote my business I am starting up (Bosco Forge). I am currently in college, and it can be hard to promote a business, and do school work. However, every break I get, is a chance to do more work. Thanks for watching and God bless!

How's summer going?
Oh, it’s been a lot of work. I have a lot of projects, work, and teaching.
So, a few people were asking about why there isn't a heat treat. If you want a full explanation, wait till the third part.
Timbers shivered
How amazing, what a great piece!
Thanks, I worked really hard on it.
Did you do the heat treat off camera?
Forgot to say it in the video, but this sword is being built for a group at my college. And because of this, there will not be an edge put on it. Therefore, it would. Be redundant to heat treat.
Love the symbolism of the project!
Thank you, I put a lot of thought into it.
@@BoscoForge Reason I was asking about the heat treat on Part 1 is the engraving you are looking to do. You may consider spray painting the blade and then copy the prayer over the layer of paint, then you'd scrape off the paint that reveals the steel under the lettering. Once that is done you can place the blade with the relief and the exposed lettering into a mixture of ferric choride and distilled water to etch the exposed steel. I've only ever done this myself with hardened steel so I'm not sure how it will react with a soft blade, but I typically let my blades sit 12-24 hours to get a satisfactory etch depth. Good luck!
@@hancockheritageknifeco Unfortunately, the blade is made of mild steal, so the etch wouldn't really show. See, this sword is going to be entrusted to a bunch of college boys, I don't want to have a hardened edge on it.
If there are any knights of the Holy Queen in the comments, let me know.

Nice work man.
Thank you for the support, and sorry for replying so late. Believe it or not, I am in Austria right now for school, and I am really busy.
@@BoscoForge i can totally understand, it's really not easy to manage both of the tasks especially at that young age. More power to you

Nice work! Love Turning.
this is literally amazing can’t wait to see it you could also ebonize one side of the set but that’s up to you since it might get rid of the natural wood look
nice knife but it is not a Fairbairn Sykes, the is no ricasso with gimping, the over all shape of the blade is wrong, the Fairbairn Sykes is much narrower and very pointed. plus the Fairbairn Sykes had a metal handle and the pommel is much to wide and rounded, it should be pointed
I know the blade shape isn’t all there, and as far as the wood handle goes, not everyone has a large piece of brass to use as a handle. Sorry to disappoint.
Nice work dude. You have done a great work 😍😍
I appreciate the positive feedback!
Dope AF knife, Bosco Forge! Now you've gotta stitch up an equally dope sheath for it as well (if you've not done so already!)
The scabbard is in the works.
I agree, awesome.
Thank you!
awsome
Thanks!
Excellent stuff big dawg
Thanks dawg

Great knife 😄😄
Thank you!
Hope everyone likes this! I spent a lot of time on this project and I think it paid off. Let me know what you think.

Hey everyone who just watched this video, there’s a part 2 on my channel. It’s been out for a while so go watch it.
I couldn’t get some of the small details like the face of Mary. Unfortunately the pieces of paper just kept ripping.
Nice job man! Question for you, how long is the blade? And how long did it take you to get to quenching heat with your forge setup? Reason I ask is I have a two burner propane forge and am looking to do my first Viking Sword with a 30" blade and I want to make sure I can get an even heat treat with my current setup. Thanks in advance!
My first blade was somewhere around 40 inches, but the second one was 32 inches long plus tang. In the video you see me using both my single burner and two burner forge to heat the sword. It took a while to get an even heat. I think I spent the entire night on the heat treat because not just was I quenching, but I was also thermal cycling it. I would give myself at least a couple of hours to do it. Keep in mind that the sun goes down faster than you think. To answer your second question, it took at least 10 minutes to get an even heat through the second blade. I think that you should be able to do it with a two burner set up. I was just using the second forge because I had it. Good luck and God bless!
@@BoscoForge Thank you for response, God bless to you as well! Also, I love that Andúril was your inspiration for this sword. My first sword I made was Orcrist from The Hobbit and I put similar time constraints on myself like you did. Planning on having more time with this build, but it is good to push ourselves and put time constraints on things to force ourselves to commit to a finished creation. Keep up the good work and I hope you are still able to create while you are at college!
I appreciate the support. Unfortunately while in college I am do not have access to my shop, but I will be joining a wood shop. Good luck with your projects as well.
Nicely done
Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it.
You guys wouldn't believe it, I spent 3 days on this ring and lost it at a gathering.
That was my favorite ring.
Subscribe for a follow up I will be making soon, where I talk about the struggles I endured in this project.

Amazing.
Tell me what you think about this knife design. I think that this is what I will sell once I finish creating my website.

Such a great knife 👍👍
Thank you! I feel that every new one I make is my favorite. I honestly had a hard time selling it.
I want to point out that I did lower the price, and asked for the client's approval before doing this.
Nice work dude. 👍👍
Looking forward to the next video 👏👏
Nice video dude, I’m on attempt 2 of trying to make a bow (my first one snapped in tillering) and I plan on building a 6 foot long bow this time since I found a nice board of red oak. I will be using your video as a loose guide because your bow both looks good, and shoots good. However, I only have hand tools. Great job on the bow bro! You’ve earned a new subscriber
Good luck, always remember that you can still make things without power equipment. I was able to do it once with only a knife.
I recommend keeping everything even on both bow arms, flexing the bow arms to get them more flexible, and most importantly do your own research.
I’ll keep that in mind, thank you! I wish you the best of luck with your channel brother! Keep pushing the great content

@@BoscoForge 101st. May your steel forge strong, and your hammer strike true; may your arrows never falter, and your bow arm serve you well.

I thought there was actually gunna be knife making..
I'm sorry that it disappointed you. I could make a video about making a knife on a budget, but I thought that people wouldn't find it interesting.
